I mean, I'll continue to play gamma max and keep climbing as I have been. Trap damage is inconsistent enough that I'd much rather just have my "I oneshot rapids" button.

A trap for me is the same at level one as it is at level 9. It's not a damage option I can rely on.

It's cover. It's zone control. It's a punish for enemies having poor awareness.

But the gamma is just monstrously good right now for dealing with the rapid meta. One second of space in a fight (which your traps give you regardless of their level) and suddenly every Hawks, Iida, Ochaco, or Twice eats 200+ damage.

I only play city map and I'll continue to gamma max. It yields the most consistent results, especially with its verticality (it hits pretty decently high above and below.)

My other logic is this; rapid meta is pushing people towards a certain style of play. A lot more hit and run, a lot more "hide from Hawks inside."

What that means is both a meta buff to traps and to gamma. But I think gamma wins out because the first half of the above is leading to more whole teams being alive at endgame. Final circle regularly has 5-6 teams at this point.

Where gamma hits all of them.

Gamma 9 --> Alpha 4 / Beta 4 --> Max as needed.

hold a rapid card at all times. Rapid card + Gamma = a free kill on almost any character. It modifies the properties and shoots the damage to near 300.

Play buildings, play corners, play to your strengths. Tech dabi is weak as heck compared to most of the cast, esp in the mobile season we're in.

I don't play on old map anymore when I'm on tech dabi. Only UA Island.

You preemptively place a trap somewhere you know someone will run or dodge into, then while you are fighting try forcing someone who is trying to get away from you to run or roll into the beta you placed previously

The gamma just gives you more time to do stuff

I took out a full team of 3 yesterday on Tech Dabi while my teammates who were both Rapids merely tickled them.
Also gamma into double melee when the opponent is within the ring is something I barely see other Techs do but it's tasty damage, especially if they get pushed back into the flame wall for extra pain.

Air melee is underrated. I use that occasionally after the gamma but the input to jump doesn't always respond for me directly after so I usually just use the 2 grounded melees for consistency.

So for dabi melee out of gamma, there's two options (@ the earlier convo.)

Double grounded melee reads a roll in and punishes it pretty severely as your second melee will track.

Jump --> air melee will read a roll out and depending on shield/hp you may be able to follow with more.

I find the correct play is almost always to play to the optimal situation, meaning if they're on shield after the gamma, I'll go for the jump air melee (since it can lead into a grounded M1/M2.)

If they're on flesh and ~above 50% I go for the roll in read. If they're on flesh and below ~50% I go for the roll out read.

What more people on dabi need to do is M1 stalls, tbh.

always get your gamma at level 9 early

and make sure your alpha or beta to be at level 4

Work around your traps in every fight, don't just place them blindly and then move away from them. (Though spread them out a bit so they're not all just bunched in one spot)
They can take hits for you and obviously trip up Strike Dabis, Iida or Denkis that try to get the jump on you.

Try to lock down interiors as much as possible, if you're forced into the open keep on the move (jump around a lot with alpha rather than standing still as you throw them)

Always keep blue cards on you for mobility, though if you think you can land it you can activate a card before using gamma on someone to make him place 2 at once and deal double damage.

Gamma maxxing is best however some people beta max which is also incredibly useful, especially on the city map and for end circle. Alpha doesn't need to be prioritised with levels but do at least get it to 4.

If you land a gamma on someone, try to do a double melee at them, or air melee followed by the 2 ground ones for extra damage while they're briefly stunned by the fire wall.

If dealing with Hawks don't bother using traps to try and knock him out of his beta because it doesn't work, instead use the gamma, that's what will interrupt it.

Tech has always been a strong pick for people who have the patience to learn him.
A skilled Tech player is damn near impossible to get close to, let alone take down.

Because you can't spam one button for an easy KO though he actually takes brain function which a lot of people don't seem to like using, so they think he's bad.
But he's been seeing a rise in popularity lately despite no buffs. People are hopefully just starting to figure out "Oh, wait! Dude can actually kinda cook!"

True, I usually play him because you have to be very tactical with, it's always fun to actually try and understand how and when the enemy will move and attack to intercept them better (and it's very fun to see a guy die to a trap you have forgotten in a corner XD)

Real. It's fun and feels far more rewarding when you perform well with a character like that.
10KOs with Tech Dabi = skill
10KOs with Hawks = it's Hawks

Also I remember chasing a Denki one time around the USJ firezone and he got very low so he tried to bail. I did lose track of him but 5 seconds later I got the Down notif. Bro had managed to pick the ONE alleyway to try and heal in where I had placed a single trap, it was amazing.

No they shouldn't.
The balance for big models comes from having high damage outputs and punishing people who try to approach carelessly, and in All Might's case strong escape mobility too.

Have you seen high Rank All Mights or Endeavors? They're difficult enough to kill even without extra hp, yet can kill most other characters easily.

all might case i agree he could be hard to kill but he still get focused down by other characters

thats why you dont see them as much as before after nerfs and rapids taking over (i still play all might and do well tho)
