To help us help you, make sure to answer:

  • What did you try to do and what happened? (Be specific—mention your Xbox model, PC version, Insider ring, or anything relevant.)
  • **What have you tried to do to fix it already? **(List everything you’ve done to fix it.)
  • Have you searched the error code or for similar problems? (Tell us what you found.)

1. What did you try to do and what happened? I adjusted the settings to have the xbox perform at 120hz but it never does that.
2. What have you tried to do to fix it already? I've gone through Video fidelity and overscan setting everything to the maximum and display set to 1080p at 120hz. (The monitor displayed that it can do 1440p on the xbox settings)
3. Have you searched the error code or for similar problems? N/A

#

Even though I somewhat explained it, I filled this out either way

Does your monitor have hdmi 2.1 port

#

Cause iirc a pc can do higher frame rates without 2.1, but the Xbox cant

#

Even if you have the right cable

rugged tangle
#

This may sound stupid but where can I check if I have a 2.1 port?

#

ok nvm

#

i checked

#

apparently the monitor i got does not have a 2.1 hdmi port

#

iti is a 27-inch ZOWIE XL2731

#

it has 2.0 and display port 1.2

#

although i did check the monitor's system and information, the optimum resolution is 192-x1080@144

#

i also checked the actual website of the monitor, supposedly it supports 120hz on xbox

compact pelican
#

it depends on the game itself. and what the game devs set the framerate to. not every game will do 120fps

rugged tangle
#

so im thinking, is there something wrong with the monitor or the xbox itself?

#

Samething with forza games

#

bear in mind in xbox settings it shows 120hz

compact pelican
#

forza forza games dont support 120fps

rugged tangle
#

I see

open thunder
#

iirc Halo has performance and graphic modes. You want performance for 120.

rugged tangle
#

i dont have that setting weirdly

#

something i just learned as well is that my monitor on minimum resolution runs at 1920x1080@60 but as mentioned before, at optimum can do 1920x1090@144. There is no 120hz setting for it

#

kinda clueless here to be honest

#

I dont mind keeping things at 60 but 120 would sound very nice

compact pelican
#

hdmi 2.1 is only required for 4k120

rugged tangle
#

mine is a 1080p 144hz monitor

#

27-inch ZOWIE XL2731 to be specific

compact pelican
#

sorry i havent played infinite in over 2 or 3 years

#

i really dont remember the settings for the game on xbox

#

did u check under video settings in infiinite?

rugged tangle
# compact pelican did u check under video settings in infiinite?

Infinite settings won’t help until I sort out the Xbox TV and display options as well as the monitor settings. I am trying to get the monitor to run at 1920x1080 120Hz instead of 60Hz, as it is not supposed to be limited to 60Hz. I saw a video from the brand itself showing how to do it on the exact same model, and for them the current resolution already allowed 120Hz, so there is definitely something wrong on my side. Additionally, the resolution setting in the Xbox settings has disappeared, and this is the first time it has happened

#

Also

#

whats annoying is that

#

on some games if I want to go max quality, it caps at 30

compact pelican
#

again as i said depends on what the game devs set the framerate to

#

most games i played on quality mode is set to 30fps

rugged tangle
#

Alright

compact pelican
#

which isnt surprising as performance mode will usually be the one set to 60fps
