#I have two gamertags

I payed 10$ to have my gamertag changed. In the policy, it says that paying this 10$ will make it so my old gamertag will no longer be associated with my account and be available to the public. Yet despite this, the old gamertag still shows on my xbox profile after multiple days of waiting, and it is not available to the public. My new gt only appears in game. My new gt is original, and has no # numbers next to it or any non-English characters, so I really have no idea why it’s doing this, it’s going against the agreed policy that I paid for.

That’s what it says on xbox social website

right sure I wouldn't take that meaning it be available
It could be available right away or it maybe 12 days 12 months or 12 years or never

Where did you change your gamertag? Website, xbox current gen, xbox 360?
how long ago did you change it?

I’ve waited over two days, yet the old name is still associated with my account somehow

spark swallow
#

where do you see the old name?

frank tulip
#

I changed it on Wednesday

frank tulip
#

My new name is under it, in a smaller font

spark swallow
#

did you use fancy letters with font or accents or anything in your new name?

frank tulip
#

It’s the standard alphabet

spark swallow
#

when it shows a secondary gamertag on your profile like that it generally means that your new gamertag is somehow incompatible with legacy games written long before the modern gamertag system was implemented

#

if your new gamertag doesn't have any weirdness in it, then you may need to contact official support for assistance figuring out why the old one is still being saved for legacy games

But also note that it can take several days for the change to be replicated around the world

frank tulip
#

But the new one will always show, even in old games

#

i'd wait a few days and then see if it disappears. if it doesn't, contact support.

and note that just becuase you played a specific old game on your current xbox, doesn't mean that that specific game is one of the ones that would have needed to use the legacy name.

But yeah I guess I just have to wait

#

It’s just odd, I’ve never had to do this before. And like I said, both names use the standard alphabet and are original, I’m not sure why it’s doing this.
