U should not have gameshare outside ur own home. Make ur xbox as the home xbox.
It's not game share
It is him using the xbox app to remote play off of my own xbox
I always changed the password, redone my 2FA, redone the authentication app from Microsoft
And every time I do that, he is still logged on all his own devices when I'm logged off of my own
You could turn off remote features at least
Well i did that one time
But issue is, when I'm playing and he remote plays
I sometimes click A by accident making me accept remote play to be turned on
Because it appears so sudden
That... doesn't sound like Remote Play
There is no prompt to turn on Remote Play that can be triggered by someone using the Xbox App
How so? He does click on remote play through the xbox app which gives a prompt to me on whether I should accept remote play or not
Huh? Can I send an image here?
Are you sure you're not seeing a "Someone is playing on another Xbox" prompt?
I am, he doesn't own an xbox
He is logged onto my account, and remote plays through his phone/PC
That isn't remote play
It sounds like you mean he is playing Cloud Gaming from a phone/PC?
Not cloud no, remote play
He gets control over the entire xbox
I turned off remote play right now and went to my xbox app
Says I need to set up, I click on existing console
A pop-up on my xbox appears saying "set up remote features"
I can click enable or cancel
Huh. They added a new feature that I didn't know about.
Hm. Let me see if there is a reason why what you did didn't force sign-out devices.
Not sure I can promise an answer though.
Thing is even if I do disable remote play
I still don't want him to be logged onto my account
Why is he logged into your account in the first place?
I get signed out of my own devices somehow
Even my main xbox
But he stays logged on there, he doesn't have the new password either
We wanted to share playing with one another
It was fun for a while but it got so annoying because he doesn't listen to when I tell him to not play, I go to play then he's just remote playing without my permission
So my only way is to log him out but I haven't achieved that whatsoever
It's like he owns the account and not me
The right way to have done that would have been for him to sign into your console and then set up remote play with him signing into the phone app with his profile. Then you could remove the profile from your console whenever you wanted to stop that.
Obviously with no sharing of account information, which is against TOS and something you should never do.
I know it was a mistake for me to do that
How can I check that?
Cause I am seriously so tired of this
And if that were to be true how comes he's able to use my own account and remote play off of my account and not his
changing the password on the account should lock them out. But it may not happen right away.
So at some point he will be prmoted to sign in with the new account info
I have done that
He doesn't get logged out of a single device, he's still logged onto his PC and Mobile
I get logged out, my xbox and phone gets logged out
He doesn't get logged out
right
. But it may not happen right away. you missed out the important bit to my post
I've waited for weeks
He still isn't logged out
If he's signed into his profile and he remote plays, he doesn't need your account on the console if his account is on it
He doesn't even have his own account logged on the Xbox
The real question is if he's logged into the remote play app with his account or with yours. If it's his account and he's somehow able to connect to your remote play (which shouldn't be possible) then you won't be able to sign him out by changing anything on your end. But that shouldn't be possible. If he's signed in with your account he can do whatever he wants to your console as long as he's signed in (which is why you never share accounts). But yeah, I would have expected the things you did to force him to be signed out.
What is even more suspicious is that
His device isn't even on the list of devices
On the Microsoft website
If he's somehow able to do this without being signed in as you on his device, then factory resetting the console should prevent him from connecting to it in the future. But if he's signed in as you, again, that won't stop him.
What can I do then
Cause there's 0 possibility that I am able to sign him out anywhere
Even the devices website doesn't show his device there
I went to the authenticator app
Went onto the device he used to log into
Clicked on secure my account
And I get a text saying "You've secured your account since this activity occurred." Even though I never did
Have you tried disconnecting your Xbox? Hard force him to disconnect, and hopefully after his device will ask to relogin.
Tried it
Nothing I do logs him out, he always has a way to log in
Doesn't Microsoft do this where if you click forget password it'd ask for your old password and let's you through?
Forget password is steps to resetting the password
Try removing your account from the Xbox
I know but doesn't it ask for you to input your old password or is that not an option?
Done that
Try disabling remote play on the Xbox again. And then do a console restart. Check that remote play is disabled. Because something went weird with your Xbox, I disabled mine and I couldn’t connect.
I did disable it, but when he remote plays and set up a new console I get a pop-up
And it automatically has enable selected so when I press A whenever I'm playing a game, I effectively enabled remote play
No, it would force you to create a new password.
That doesn’t sound like remote play. Sounds like you’re getting the prompt for quick setup. There’s no stopping your friend to keep trying. Just have to wait for the app to auto logout so he can’t log back in.
Can I send you a picture on DM for what pops up?
Sure
Sent
That's what pops up when I disable remote play
And then try to remote play off the app
Issue is semi resolved
I resolved the remote play issue with @small plank
But I still can't figure out how to force sign him out if his device isn't on the list
Thanks so much
I was able to unlink the pc version
But what about his mobile?
did you go to the link?
Yes that's how i unlinked the pc
It says 0 devices linked
it says the same for me
