#Xbox pc app wont work

If yours just started Cool, there's an outage that started within the last 45 minutes or so.

I actually reinstalled windows like what others did, because I literally did everything. Though is Microsoft flight simulator the stupid dlss would not show.. they only way to fix that is to mess with registry and last time I did that… I had to reinstall windows

First time I messed with registry to fix a msfs problem. That did not go well. It was so bad the the bios was the I onlything working. I did a factory reset

The outage was resolved yesterday evening Pacific time in the US, it should all be working now

I still get icons saying ‘unable to display right now’ if I click on a game that shows an icon in the store it’ll say ‘looks like your stranded, there might be a problem with the app’
I’ve tried repairing, resetting, and terminating the Xbox Pass App on Pc but nothing seems to work.
The app was fine 2 days ago and since last night it’s been like this
I’ve also signed out and back in. My games don’t show. I’ve restarted my computer and internet multiple times and that’s not the issue.
I thought it was just me at first but I created a Reddit post and multiple people are having the same issue
Can you file feedback through the app / feedback hub for the xbox app?
At the end of the flow, it will give you an option to share a link to that feedback, if you can share that link here, I can pass it along.

Open up the Feedback Hub app (which is what launches when you click report a problem in the Xbox app)
Then click on "Feedback" on the left side, then "My Feedback" on the top row, and then click on the feedback entry you just created. In that page, you should have a "Share" link option

Ok, open up feedback hub again and go to file a new report against Xbox app. Start recording the reproduction of the issue there. Then open up the Xbox app and make sure you see the errors on the screen (when you get to this point, go back to feedback hub, click stop repro, but leave both Xbox app and feedback hub open and don't click anything further)
Let me know when you're at that point

The app is actually back to being broken. When it fixed it only worked for a few minutes

There were additional steps to do before submitting to include additional files
what are the additional files?
Additional log files from the Xbox app since your Windows settings were preventing any logs from being captured at all
so we were going to manually capture them
Yes, because the previous feedback you submitted had very little data in it
start over with the instructions I had above and when you get to the point of having stopped the capture, before continuing (don't submit the feedback yet, don't close either the hub or the xbox app), then say so here
I'll go log back on my work PC and grab the other instructions
Once you're at that point again, you're going to bring up the start menu and you want to type: run
This should get you the program called "run", you want to run it 🙂

You'll want to put what I have in my screenshot into your run box:

Then press OK
Next, Press the Windows key and E at the same time and you'll bring up "This PC"
In the address bar of that window, put this in for the location:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.GamingApp_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\
You should see something like this

Ok, select all the files and directories in that folder, and right click and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) Folder
You should then end up with a zip file in that directory containing everything else
That zip file is what we also want to attach to the feedback before we submit
so attach the folder to the feedback ?
Ok great, go back to Feedback Hub, and select Attach a file
In the location bar for the file selection, put this again:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.GamingApp_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\
That will take you to the same directory, select just the zip file and click open. That should attach it.
Feedback Hub should look like this now
where you have the zip file attached at the bottom

@true crown it still hasn’t been working for me. I’ve dealing with this for days. As you can see above I was able to speak with an admin and sent my feedback for a fix. I hope I can get an answer and I’ll be sure to pass it on to those who are having the same issue as me 😔

@true crown yeah i would not take the step to reinstall windows. We shouldnt have to wipe our computers clean for an app that is not working the way it should. I know its frustrating but ill be sure to share the solution if they get back to me with one

@mellow zodiac im thinking it might have something to do with the pc im using, i tried downloading it on a different pc and it worked just fine, unfortunately i dont think my progress will transfer over though

The issue started when I updated my windows and gaming services
no idea, i havent used it in a day and its been off so i dont know if its been updated, in all honesty now that you say that i might try reverting some updates to see if it will work again
Tried reverting updates and using a vpn, didnt work
@mellow zodiac I heard back from the team and for some reason, either your PC or your network is blocking most of the traffic for the Xbox app. It's getting 100s of "Network request failed" errors. Do you have any network filtering like a raspberry pi or firewall software running on your PC / network?
@timber ether I'm heading home to check. My firewall settings haven't changed at all tho. Regardless ill look it over and give you an update
@timber ether I disabled my firewall and any antivirus software that my computer might have. I then restarted my computer but I'm still getting the same results
There may be some filtering happening at the router level then? I'm not sure, but the team who took a look told me they were seeing lots of network errors, something was blocking it along the way 😦
So basically i should disable my firewall and other pc protections and see if it changes anything? Or would it be something i would have to switch to a different wifi/router for? Cause its only happening with this one pc
mine just stays on the loading screen for a good 2 minutes then closes itself

I have no idea, I don't know what the issue is that you're hitting
basically infinite loading, but before i uninstalled it the app wouldnt let me sign in at all nor launch any of the games i had
@true crown mine does what yours is doing plus everything i have mentioned in the past. i already tried disabling my firewall and disabling all antivirus software. Plus i checked my router for any blocking or filtering and there are none. After all that the app still doesnt work.
The only solution i found was reverting to the previous version of the app but its nowhere to be found unless you archieved it. The older version that is out there for download is too old and the MS Store forces you to update.
in conclusion the App Is Broken. ive been in so many forums and there are many more ppl experiencing this. Ive tried everything i could find but nothing works. It'll probably never have a fix until someone decides to look deeper into it and hopefully release an update that will fix it.

You literally have multiple Microsoft employees looking in to it trying to help you, lol. I get that you are frustrated but remember to be open minded and thankful for getting a level of assistance that 99% of customers don’t get
i never said i didnt appreciate the help. This is a place to express my concerns and seek help and thats exactly what im doing
i found some random redit forum and made progress using powershell commands, the app is now saying its updated and it let me sign in but now its just stuck on "100% updating launching the app" its been saying this for the last hour now with no change, when i go to close it and re open the app it just goes back to normal and shows the default loading

Checked youtube, reddit, tiktok, google, and i still cant find any fixes and yet 85% of the xbox reviews from microsoft store are all raving about the same problem (which is crazy cause this issue has been happening for years apparently and theres still no actual fixes)
Yeah I know how you feel. Hopefully they are looking into it because all I really want to do is play my games and use the app for new downloads

Nothing yet, but i found out the game i bought can transfer to other pcs so atleast theres a backup plan incase i can never get it to work

it works if you turn off and then back on your ipv6 on the router settings but if you close the app you have to go thru the whole process to turn off and back on the ipv6

I found powershell commands that make it update but it never opens
So I officially fixed mine but I’m not sure if it’ll work for everyone. Tomorrow I’ll be posting the solution that worked for me.
