What does holding the Sync button until the Xbox One S controller does a long vibration and turns off do?

I've been trying to find information on this behavior with no real luck

Is that really what it does?

I had to do that before pairing the controller to a different Bluetooth device (otherwise I got some weird issues like a disconnect/connect loop)

But pairing works fine without doing that now (maybe there was some update on my phone or Arch Linux?)

It definitely wasn't a controller update as I would have to plug the controller in to do updates 🐸

wireless updates are supported at least on xbox

I actually bought my controller for non-Xbox use (because of the Bluetooth support) so I obviously don't have a Xbox
