Flight sims have traditionally been a PC market "game", filling a niche market with people who typically dive into the hobby fairly heavily and invest it (I make no comment on my ~$1K invested in flight sim hardware over the years mae_lol ). As such, that's the primary platform to target first.

That's already what xCloud does. You can play on your phone (provided you have a controller or a Kishi).

It's currently only for Android phones, though. iOS only has remote play, which isn't the same as xCloud.

Doing that from xCloud servers is problematic as they need permission from the publishers to add their game to xCloud. There are also differences in licensing involved.

Streaming from your own console doesn't require any change to licensing because you're still running the game on your own hardware, just accessing remotely.

Like the sites that let you run steam games, they are just renting you a VM. They don't have any deal with the publishers.

@rocky axle you have 2 licenses to 2 different edititions to the game. 1 that you own that is not cloud enabled that is ultimate. And 1 that is cloud enabled that is normal.

Yes I can read thanks very much. You can use a ps4 controller on xcloud, I am aware that the op person is asking about ps5 and that may not work, but you can use other controllers there is loads that are supported. and i sure they add support for ps5 in the future if it isnt there yet.

You can play them from your console remotely as long as the disc is inserted. if a title is on xCloud and you have an active qualifying game pass subscription, then you can play the game remotely in the cloud.

Xcloud is coming to ios soon but no date yet. You should i think be able to use Remote play and stream your console to the xbox app on your phone but you may find if you have a Series X controller it may not work on I phone till apple support it

Yeah that page says it supports iOS 10 or higher but then on the Xbox controller page it says Applies to: Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

Hello, I am owner of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and there are blog posts about the gears legacy games being stream-able on xcloud/cloud gaming, and on the most recent post about Xbox Game Pass Backwards compatability (March 32,2021 @8AM) the entire gears series is stated to be playable via "the clouds"
But I simply cannot find on which app or which area of an app the games listed that claim to be playable in this blog post are, it might be because i'm in Australia and there might be restrictions but i dont know. Help?

there 2 differnt things under cloud streaming (Xcloud) You have Game streaming that is streaming your games from a data centre to a supported device such has a andorid phone or you have Remote play that is streaming your games from your console to a supported device. both are live now in supported regions. You do not necessarily need a controller there is 50 supported games with touch controls.

yeah they basically have Xbox-equivalent hardware in Azure data centers that can run these games. When you start up a game via the streaming app, it finds an available "console" with the game you requested (I don't know exactly how that works; they may do some fast-load tricks from a storage cluster rather than having to have all the games pre-installed) and tells it to start the game up, then points your stream to that. You don't have to deal with the dashboard UI, it just sends you straight into the game

Remote play (streaming from your own console), you do have access to your console's dashboard and can run most things that are installed on it, unless they're blocked (media streaming apps, X360 games are the main examples)

Apparently flags for invites are set faster than emails sending invites are sent. So people have successfully been able to log in and play at https://www.xbox.com/en-US/play without the invite coming. But unfortunately, I am not one of the lucky.

Well, 8.1 likely won't have up to date browsers capable of using the service.

It's also in beta, so they may only officially support Windows 10 right now, but there's nothing stopping you from running it on macOS. As long as they've updated things properly to fully support the Xbox controller, as I know they had issues for a long while where not all buttons would be acknowledged.

Yeah that makes sense. I understand that they don't want to commit to Mac working at this point, while they're busy testing Windows and iOS. Mac also has this weird 'location services' network disruption on the regular (unless you turn it off), and that is for Apple to fix. It's not like that on iOS or Windows.

I got my invite played a bit last night. Playing bards tale (so not fast twitch) and it was mostly good, although there was some noticeable stutter occasionally. Particularly noticable in the audio stream that suddenly cuts out. Graphics quality seemed good, no mpeg artifacting (which I can often see when I play stadia). So needs some work, but I see it on the right path

Other than the initial slow sync, it loaded okay for me with a 150h save (according to TA).

I tried launching it on my iPhone, but I’m still getting the white screen. I’ll try loading it on my pc. I have 91 hours according to ta.

It loaded up fine for me on PC. It took less than a minute to sync my save file.

Just repeating this cause Iris's solution worked for me. Initially, when I clicked the invite it just showed me a page saying I need to be invited. Try logging off and logging back in. For some reason that seems to have flushed out the issue in the system and now I can access the cloud games.

I got in today, when the family arent hogging the Internet and depending on the game, tried a handful to test. some are working better than others which I was expecting.. is a slight delay but yeah I can see myself using this more often

Games are stored in a datacenter powered by tons of One S machines, and linked to Game Pass. when you pick a game it sends a signal to a machine to fire the game up and to stream that to a browser,mobile device etc.. but yeah its in limited testing at the moment and you get invited randomly by email

I have my invitation to xcloud on PC and I think it's great. Just playing my favourite games on a linux machine in browser. Sadly my internet connection here is quite slowly, so you can see that the cloud does downscale the graphics. But the games were always playable. Ohter than stadia, where the connection gets cut if the connection is too slow. As far as now I am really satisfied about MSs Approach of gaming.

I was testing cloud gaming ios on public wifi to test connection and compare to home network (to see if using it elsewhere was viable). When I tried to leave feedback, cloud gaming crashed and has not been able to load since. Trying to launch it from the home screen of my phone (iPhone 7) leads to a black screen after the logo screen and nothing ever happens.

Yeah, that's the advantage with targeting mobile phones to start with. Easier to scale up to a faster connection/bigger screen than the other way around.

I find it funny how I've been putting off buying an Xbox since the 360 era for financial reasons. I was ready to jump back in this generation, but when they announced xCloud I decided to use that to dip my toe in the water first. But here we are coming up on two years since the announcement and I (On Macbook Air and iPhone) still can't access the service. Recently I've been making half-hearted attempts to buy the thing but the Series X isn't in stock whenever I look. At this point in my life I've spent more time anticipating and reading about when I can play Halo, than I've ever spent actually playing the darn thing. I did get a Switch and now I'm just going to forget about everything until they figure it all out, if that takes 6 months or 2 years... either is fine with me. I can't keep wondering about gaming instead of just playing something. Quarantine must've been making me crazy

No, because they're console games.

You're not playing the PC version. And for any console games that do have M&KB support on Xbox, they won't support the input when streaming to PC.
