I got a 3080 for like 1100 a while agoš
It is
Gameplay isnāt for everyone
But they fixed a couple of the bugs it had from launch within the first week and now itās rock solid otherwise
same, I thought I was getting higher prices from the store but I went to a place for replacing my headphones with warranty and they happened to be the people who manage the stocks for the stores, so they said "yeah thats the correct price"
huh
I just saw multiple messages dissapear
deleted my previous messages
ah, I thought you got banned an the bot deleted all your messages
got a bit scared there
nah, I don't think any bot can do that anyway. Messages would have to be manually removed. Sorry for scaring you there
btw did you try the things I suggested above yesterday? (might have to scroll up a little)
np
Here in Brazil this price is different, it is almost 11 thousand
It can.
I just got a 25 ft micro usb cable for my controller and all it does is blinking and not working
what did you expect?
Is charging only? Or data cable?
Nah doesnāt charge further reviews said the cable doesnāt work gonna return it
Micro USB cables aren't meant to exceed about half of what you bought.
got to love setting my monitor's picture mode to dynamic contrast. Screen gets really bright during light pictures etc and can go really dull with darker pictures etc. Eye poppingly bright. Wonder if my phone can capture how bright this is. HDR is not enabled either
PC GAMER HAS ARRIVED š
i need supportok ok ok soooo....I bought minecraft bedrock on pc for windows 10 and now it says i have to rebuy it. Is there a way i can fix this if i cant can I like transfer minecraft from xbox to pc also im pretty sure i have the reciept for mc when i bought it
wtf did game bar crash my pc come on
Minecraft is not play anywhere. If you buy bedrock on Xbox, you need to buy it again on pc
No idea. Contact support
Also Iām deleting your com support message. Stop cross posting
The real cost of IGN Entertainment's acquisition of Humble Bundle has finally surfaced.
Default charity donation will be 5% percent, with a hard cap at 15%.
Primary focus shifted from supporting charity to profit margins.
The charity aspect is no more than a marketing tool. https://t.co/VvrQhgc3XI

Oh. I thought the page glitched and didnāt load the slider.
if i get the xbox game pass for pc for a month, do i get to keep them after the month ends?
No
It's hard for me to understand how anybody expects that to work
You mean you don't want to give people permanent access to 200 games for a buck?
Sadly we don't live in a Perfect World
Thatās called a dream world
Whatās a 8 monitor setup called?
Control room
Well I guess thatās what Iām getting then
4x24ā, 2x27ā, 2xUltraWide for two builds
8 monitors? I still struggle to imagine what working with two is like
One for gaming the other for rendering and work
Well Iād always liked the way that games made multi monitor setups look
so since I can well afford it, Iād might aswell
I've heard nvidia GPUs can be awkward with multimonitor setups
like being able to combine all the screens into one picture and still have the ability to use each one separately was such a cool concept to me
Thatās why Iāll have 3 top of the line gpus in each
The one for work will have a thread ripper obv
woah!
The gaming one will have 2xRyzen 2080 and 1xRTX 3080
The one for work will have 2xRTX 3080 Ti, and 1xAMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X
Beefy machinery because why not
sounds like your work is very intensive
Yes,
Sounds hot. Like in thatās a lot of heat.
Rendering, CGI, FDVR MMORPG developerment, very intensive
Yes thatās why Iām also having a specialized room designed just for the rigs
I'd wait to see if Zen 3 Threadripper launches this year. Could feature even more cores than that 3990X
Ye Iāll be preordering it once itās announced
Iāll need all the processing power i can get
something tells me going for gaming GPUs might not be a good choice outside of gaming
Definitely going to have a threadripper with zen3
I'd love to know what it is like to work with a CPU that has as many cores (64!) as the 3990X has. The sort of workloads it requires clearly even push it to the limits
The question is, when
But. Tbh
They could just launch a zen4 one
Zen 4 releases this year
I've heard Zen 4 may end up being more like Zen 3+ kind of makes me wonder why AMD didn't take the opportunity to really rub salt into Intel's wounds by releasing their CPUs on a tick-tock like model, something Intel were known for doing up until 14nm hit. Could have gone Zen, Zen+, Zen 2, Zen 2+ and so on. New fab CPUs every second year with optimizations to what they have in between
Intel should make gpus
they are but either I've been under a rock or the Intel GPU department has been silent these past few months
Ik someone who uses a threadripper for gaming
It will be zen3+ but with a universal performance gain across both single and multi-core
And I think they said it was going to be on 5nm
I've heard 6nm. Bit odd but ehh we'll see closer to the time I guess
I remember them mentioning process shrink during the announce last year
No. They said which specifically
I think it was 5nm
Cause I know it wasnāt 3nm
I think 5nm is set to be Zen 5 that may include RDNA 2 graphics, instead of Vega
Nope
It was 5nm
Just checked
They confirmed it back in June of last year
Then made the public announcement with their event last September/October
hmm I must be reading too much into speculation. Never mind then
oh yeah, how could I forget that. I remember reading that. 25% IPC gain over the reported 19% IPC gain Zen 2 to Zen 3 had sounds insane! 40% overall performance increase too?!
btw, a threadripper is extremely overkill for gaming. At least depending on what generation it is. Threadripper's debut started off at 8c/16t I believe and I recall seeing a comparison between that 1920X? and the 5600X and idk but it is pretty amazing to see how far CPUs can come along in just a few years. This is what I love about PC gaming and it's ever evolving hardware
ok, I was wrong about that core count. 1920X was actually 12c/24t
Ik its overkill
What cpu would you recommend for gaming?
I was just gonna get a ryzen 7
Ryzen 5 is plenty for gaming. Though I see a lot of people suggest to others not to get a 5600X because of the price. Pretty sure the 3600 is still a solid choice and can be found around half the price of a 5600X
The stock cooler for ryzen processors are decent right?
they are pretty bad from what I've heard. Loud and doesn't do too well keeping the CPU cool - idle temps in the 60s and under load temps in the mid to high 80s
this was the image I saw a few days back. Really shows how far AMD have come in such a short space of time
for cooling a Ryzen CPU you don't really need an AIO cooler. The cooler I use is a dual fan air cooler. Arctic Freezer 34 esports duo. Cuts the temperatures down compared to the stock cooler by some 20c
cost me something like £40
Doesnāt do much for ambient temps though
So if youāre concerned about roasting in your room Iād use an AIO
Can't say they've been an issue for me. Room does get pretty warm but nothing unbearable. Big test will be once summer comes though. Worst case scenario my room window will be wide open all summer long. Been great in the winter though.
I'd get the xbox game pass for PC. Will give you a lot of games to start out with
True
I planned on getting mc java assassins creed Valhalla and some others
Sub howcome u never talk in #general-chat anymore
I do, quite a bit lately. I just pick my time or lurk an awful lot š
š
Itās a bit different when the average spring temperatures fluctuate from 40-50F to 80-90F
Toastiness matters then
that's what it's been doing the past week or two where I stay and it's not been too bad. Hottest day my area has had was something like 16C, whatever that converts to in Fahrenheit but forecast says it is to get colder again. Got to love spring! š
My room currently resides in the high 80s since I havenāt gotten an AIO for my system there
hottest temperature I've had since moving back in December 2018 was 30C and that felt horrible. The night that followed it wasn't much better either. A warm, muddy 20C night. Lucky it was only one day
Thatās average here
And also why XLR8 and I stated that AIO do make a difference
The cpu doesnāt have a chance to reach those significantly higher temps since itās being cooled more efficiently therefore heat runoff isnāt as high
I am learning a lot of new pc stuff
I still believe it is subjective really. Going from the 6700K I had that used an AIO cooler to the 5600X that is running on air I honestly haven't seen that great a deal in temperature difference between the two and we're talking a CPU that has 2c/4t less and is clocked some 600MHz lower than the 5600X is. During gaming both my 6700K and 5600X averaged around 65C and idk but I find that impressive how a £40 air cooler can compete with a £100 AIO
An objective temperature difference isnāt something subjective lol
The actual core temps may not differ but the ambient temps are tangible
things likely would have been different had I gone for a higher end Ryzen CPU. 5900X or 5950X but I have no use for either of them and couldn't afford either of them so they were never in my scope of interest
Obviously thereās going to be differences is one cpu gives off more heat than another
But itās still an objective and tangible difference
well then, I'm sorry for my ways with words. Sometimes idk how best to word some things but what I've seen from the two CPUs I've owned is almost identical in terms of temperatures reported. My room gets warm either way due to insulation so I've got used to that part
both CPUs as far as I can tell are/were (in the case of the 6700K) stock
only real difference I can remember was the idle temperatures were lower on the 6700K by some 5C or so over the 5600X but again, I still find that pretty impressive. So much so it would take quite a bit for me to return to an AIO cooler any time soon. Save quite a bit of money and still get some pretty decent temperatures. As long as my CPU isn't warm enough I can cook dinner off it I'm fine and happy with what I have
why the hell does ur room get hot from a processor and how?
Wait a min........... can u toast bred on it? š„Ŗ
pls say u can.
rockin that core duo
Intel CPUs in 2021 š

anyone know how I can disable touch screen on my laptop
Check your user manual
Should i have my cooling pad fan running 24/7
i dont see an issue doing so, its just a fan, unless its dusty in your room its probably fine
sometimes dust can clog a fan but its basically just cleaning it to fix it
there's a setting in AMD's Radeon Software that I'm trying to learn more on but every time I search about it I don't find out much about it. Anyone here know what it is? (not to be confused with color depth btw, that has it's own option)
HDR.
10-bit and HDR are not the same
there are 10-bit displays that do not support HDR
It's color depth per pixel
color depth has it's own option though or do you mean to say there is two levels to this color depth thing?
Here's the separate option
I don't have a PC š š š
https://www.techpowerup.com/281550 now this is interesting. I wonder how AMD could pull this off considering the current size of the whole CPU package. No way could they fit big cores, small cores an iGPU (APU) and still fit the I/O die in there too
AMD launched the 7 nm Zen 3 microarchitecture which powers Ryzen 5000 processors in late 2020, we expect AMD to follow this up with a Zen 3+ on 6 nm later this year and a 5 nm Zen 4 in 2022. We are now beginning to receive the first rumors about the 3 nm Zen 5 architecture which is expected to launc...

Can u explain for a person new to pcs
Pls
@smoky flame
explain what exactly?
My 5800x cpu comes in soon]
the radeon software looks SOOO much better and looks way easier to navigate than nvidia control panel
and I can tell that just by the settings tab
just looked at some screenshots, I wish nvidia had that kind of software
who want to play minecraft java edition
hey guys
I want to ask something
I was playing sims 4 and have been getting low fps (anywhere from 7-80) and when I checked why, The CPU usage was around 10-19% when the GPU usage was around 30-40%
I wanted to ask if that was normal for that game and if not, why is it doing that
I guess sims 4 isn't that demanding of a game, at least for the GPU
I saw somewhere that the CPU should be getting around 30-40% usage so im kinda confused
My crome use 100% cpu and 100% ram help
what CPU and RAM you got?
I have 2 pcs the 2 is going
a computer and older pentium p6200 and 4gb ram
and my newest is i7 10 generation with 16gb ram
ahh, well it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see Chrome using 100% of both the CPU and RAM on the first computer. Second computer though! I've heard Chrome can be resource hungry but wow!
Usage is entirely GPU dependent
Could be 100% of a 1060 or 40% of a 3080
Ok
it could also be malware @floral quail
bitcoin miners etc
and chrome is unsafe, they store your passwords on your pc so you should use something else
What else would u use
Razer laptops are š„
I am 70% sure I dont got malware, did a windows defender scan like an hour ago
Crome bandit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb_FcABVkrg so, this monitor is finally releasing and honestly? it screams ridiculous. Price tag is crazy, as I thought it would be and it doesn't even support HDMI 2.1... Would rather buy an OLED TV that is like a 3rd of this monitor's price. Supports HDMI 2.1 and still has up to 120Hz refresh rate. Big win for the TVs here now
Check prices on Amazon below

how much is this monitor?
$1600 for a 50 inch mini LED TV vs what appears to be $3000 for a 32 inch, Gsync ultimate monitor. Can nearly buy two of those TVs for one of those monitors
appears to be around $3000
well that TV, right up to 65 inches is 4K, supports HDMI 2.1 and 120Hz and still works out cheaper than that monitor
oh yea would much rather get that
that perfectly fits the description of the perfect tv for me
I'm getting my first PC!
My current one is a mac that i play minecraft on
Its going to have really nice specs! I am so exited!
ooh nice! what's the specs?
Well, it's going to have a i9 10900k, a RTX 3090, 2tb SSD, (i forgot the motherboard), 64 gigabytes of ram, and 850watt power suply
*supply
I'm really exited to see it!
hope you plan to play way more than minecraft on a system like that. Way overkill but really nice, powerful system!
Thanks!
guess you'll be streaming as well as gaming? perfect specs for that
heh your brother may even be blown away by such a system š
what you got for a display?
hmm not bad though that 3090 should make light work of both that resolution and refresh rate
@smoky flame what are your pc specs?
my PC specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
32GB (2x 16GB kit) 3600MHz DDR4 RAM
AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (Power Color Red Devil)
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB NVMe SSD
can also list some other stuff if you'd like but that stuff I often list seeing as it is the most important parts to a PC
Hmmm Asus or msi motherboard
This one https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00112797
OR
This one https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00112973
The ASUS, NewEgg.ca has it for the same price as the MSI, plus then MemoryExpress will beat it by 10%
Both have the same chipset, both are in my price range, both have a good amount of USB ports
what CPU is this motherboard being paired up with? just out of curiosity
AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
They're finally in stock
That CPU is also in my price range.
and paired to 16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM
I was using a msi x570 board with a ryzen 5 3600
It was a tomahawk
That one has 2 USB 3 headers for front I/O. WHich could be useful to me
How much does your build cost total
ok, so a couple of things to note. You may require a BIOS update to get the CPU working at its fullest and by the looks of it neither of those motherboards support any rollback feature should anything go wrong. Another thing, neither of these motherboards support wifi so if you need that at all neither are good options. Out of which one I'd pick it is hard to say really. Both are similar in features
To who me or him?
that was to Matt, sorry
I don't need WiFI. I have Gigabit LAN in my basement.
MemoryExpress will mount the CPU and flash the latest BIOS to it for me for free. If it goes sideways, they'll replace the board
ohh nice! still doesn't quite settle what one of those two you linked would be a better choice š
I'm going to go for the MSI x570
gimme a moment and I'll ask around on one of the other servers I'm in. Quite a few people in there really clued up on motherboard stuff
oh, ok
My specs:
Ryzen 5 3600
X570 mobo
1tb ssd
750 psu
16 gigs of ram
should i get a xbox series x or pc
i mean for 500 bucks u cant build a better pc
I know that
But I can't play DCS World, Command & Conquer, or my old PC games on my Xbox One. I can use VR on my Xbox One
Both will be pretty hard to get just now and depending on budget, the Series X may be your best choice
I can't play SoT and stream it here and interact with the community on Xbox One
Oh shoot, sorry that was to Ahmed
My apoligies
So very sorry
Sub good specs or no?
I shall slink away to my corner and hide lol
xbox one i said series x because cant u play like so many old xbox classics
Sorry Ahmed, I thought the comment was directed to me.
pretty solid specs š
oh no i was asking for my self sorry for the confusin
I honestly perfer console gaming myself. Its easier, with fewer issues
I installed a 4GB update (yay alpha-skip ahead) last night. Took about 15min or so, then I fired up MLB and was gaming in no time. On my PC, there is so much more to deal with.
I love PC gaming, don't get me wrong
down here in ontario there arent really any memory expreses mostly just canda computers and best buy
There's a MemoryExpress in London
I know, I'm from there
Hamilton, London, Ottawa has locations
yeah, PC gaming can be quite a bit more complicated but it has its perks. Being able to install hardware as you please and cheaper games. What's not to love about that? consoles do work out cheaper in the short term but over time costs will build up and the may even leap past PC depending on the type of user
london i spretty far from milton
hamilton isnt far but isnt close
yeah tru i have family in london so i might check it ou after covid
what's up with it squishy?
Nothing just pricey
But im fine with it
As you can see im very wishy washy
But total my pc cost 1k so im fine with that
@smoky flame
That's just X570 for you. They launched pretty pricey (and still are). No reason to get another motherboard over that though I'd say. Save your money
what's up with your graphics card? you have pretty much the same one as me. I guess you feel the need to upgrade like me?
Nothing but the best within reason
No im still building my pc i got the part list now im ordering
But my friend said he may give me his graphics card
Why do you wanna upgrade?
I'm quite a performance user. Originally bought this 5700 XT to unlock the full potential of my monitor as my old GPU couldn't, even though that was a 1080 Ti. Next step is to get closer to 1440p 240Hz in games while maintaining ultra settings (with some exceptions)
Oo
Im honestly fine with a decent gpu
Im not tryna push it to the limits or anything i just want a build that is good for all the games i plan to play
plan to get a 6800 XT some day as that will near double the FPS I get now in some titles or at the very least provide a nice leap in performance
an example of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_xednvzG1c
Amd rx 6800 xt vs RX 5700 XT - 1440p | Test with i7 10700k
The RX 6800 XT is a worthy competitor to the RTX 3080, and it's more than capable of 4K and 1440p gaming. AMD now has to prove it's able to deliver ray tracing performance improvements and deliver super sampling to really compete fully for next-generation games. It is built around the c...
Because when we looked at his pc we couldnt figure out which gpu it was
It had amd on the fans
And it had a red dragon snake thingy on it
And it had two fans
Have any idea what it may be? @smoky flame
well, Red Dragon is from Power Color and it could be anything but dual fan is pretty common with that model. I have the Red Devil which is Power Color's flagship air cooled GPU and that is triple fan. Only thing past that is what is called the Liquid Devil and as you can guess it is liquid cooled
does it look anything like this? https://www.powercolor.com/product?id=1565953800
Yes but on those little circles where the fans are it said amd
The red dragon was at the top left of the card
And it was a long snake thingy
hmm might be older than the 5700 XT then
not a clue
is it possible to gift a 15 dollar card to someone on pc so they can use that to purchase game pass?
You can buy gift cards from Amazon and similar places. Or just PayPal them $15
*game pass
Yes
But make sure they have a payment method on the account first as they will need one.
no i mean can i give my friend a 15 dollar card whcih he can redeem for game pass pc
Again, yes.
thanks a lot bro
But they will need a credit card or PayPal on their account in order to set up Game Pass, even with the account credit. Make sure they have that first, or you've wasted the money.
I5 11 th gen or i7 7 th gen ?
Depends.
what are the exact CPUs?
11th gen
If itās a gaming i5 then Itāll outperform a 7th gen i7
If itās an economy i5 it will not
something tells me it is laptop processors
would have been nice to get more info but 11th gen being newer should have the upper hand in most workloads. I don't want to say for sure until I know what exact CPUs we are talking though
Hi
This
https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00115072
Or this
https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00114504
Those are the 2 in my range. I already have an Asus monitor (tuc 27" curved) so I'm thinking Asus to keep brands the same.
They both have the same resolution, response time and both support that amd sync
I guess neither of these will be used for gaming? if so I'd just get the cheaper of the two. Which appears to be the Acer after factoring in the discount on the site
Ya. That's what I was leaning towards
Any motherboard suggestions for a intel processor
I have an msi Z370 Gaming Plus that I quite liked
what Intel processor we talking?
I5 10400
Worked really well. 2 usb 3 headers, multiple fan headers, supports water cooling
you'll want a B460/H470/Z490* motherboard with 10th gen. What one idk. I'm not even sure of what limitations the other chipsets have
*Z490 being premium probably isn't worth getting for the 10400. They likely come better into play for the unlocked CPUs
I agree
By the time you want to upgrade your cpu, that socket will be superseded, so thereās no point in buying a z490 if youāre not going to be able to use it to push a cpu
Hmm im looking
only two that really leaves then is B460 or H470 but as I mentioned above, I'm not sure what limitations, if any (I'm sure there is) there are
are intel or ryzen processors better for gaming?
right now, the latest generation AMD have the upper hand in pretty much every workload. Gaming being one of them but you do have to pay a premium just now to get your hands on an Ryzen 5000 CPU
Intel 10th gen is better value for money though will perform worse than Zen 3 (Ryzen 5000) while 11th gen is pretty much some sort of fill in to try and disrupt AMD. You may or may not see some improvements with 11th gen but higher end the value drops significantly. Even core count drops from 10th gen on the 11900K from 10 cores to 8. Not that it really matters for gamers, most will be fine with 6 cores if strictly just gaming.
all AMD's CPUs are unlocked and their motherboards (at least down to A320/520) support overclocking and do not limit RAM speeds. Though they might have some other limitations
You want a x570 mobo with a ryzen cpu right?
b550 works too
even past generations work fine but will require a BIOS update to support the latest generation CPUs
Might just get a b550 tomohawk
I believe Ryzen 5000 CPUs are supported on motherboards right down to X370 and B350 though that support does vary and may even require additional kit from AMD to update the BIOS to get it all working so while I say these motherboards support these CPUs I'd opt for no less than B450/X470
Last question
check the price of the gaming wifi from MSI. If you need wifi it may be cheaper than the tomahawk
Gaming edge wifi?
yeah, that's the one. My bad
pretty sure the tomahawk supports wifi too
So with the cooling situation..the stock cooler for the 5600x is it enough?
It has onboard ethernet? But it says no wireless networking
stock settings while gaming? maybe. I bought another cooler as I wasn't too confident with the stock cooler. It'll work but temperatures will be pretty high, especially while gaming since the CPU will recognise it as a load
Btw im talking about the b550 tomohawk
Ill get a liquid cooler but i have to get additional thermal paste right
most coolers should come with some pre applied thermal paste but you can clean that off and apply your own, probably better to do that since it isn't really much that tends to be pre applied
So what does it mean by onboard ethernet
also, on the tomahawk I think there is two models. One with wifi and without. Difference being in the name it should state wifi (B550 Tomahawk Wifi for example)
Yea the wifi one is the x570 i think
onboard ethernet is as standard. Ethernet connection to connect an ethernet cable to
Also thanks for helping me i have a lot of questions š
And you are very kind to answer them
no problem. I like to help where I can š
with an AIO cooler be sure to keep in mind there are some measurements that may be required. Like the size of your case may prevent some coolers from being compatible and may obstruct other components like RAM or GPU depending on where you place the cooler and the fans
Oh i was just gonna get a nzxt elite case
should be ok with that case but still keep it in mind. If you are building the PC it really is just like lego but requires a screwdriver. Take your time with it and be sure to read through the manuals and nothing should go wrong š
Thanks man
So with the b550 boards and older you just need a bios update and your good?
Wait nevermind i figured it out
with a Ryzen 5000 CPU it will require a BIOS update. Some B550 and X570 motherboards may already be Ryzen 5000 ready and Ryzen 3000 CPUs will work out the box. Overall I'd still update the BIOS to the latest non beta version available as they provide various fixes and improvements
When i start ordering parts if the 5600x is available ill get it
But if not ima get a 3600
Because its still a decent cpu i think
yeah, the 3600 is a great CPU still. In terms of value for money you are getting 6 cores for less than Ā£200. One of the stores I see it on have it for less than Ā£170 even. Which is pretty good imo. The 5600X at the same store sells for Ā£300. I hope you find a 5600X. Think you'll like it š
how come it says my ultimate subscription will bill me may 11th but if I turn off reoccuring billing to cancel it says itll end may 4th?
It should be active until may 10th no?
Contact support
A friend sent me this I'm like whoo dude
interesting the xbox app says it renews may 11th but the website says renews may 4th
Thanks man fingers crossed š¤

that looks cool
I dont got RGB ram but I wish I did, eh, ig I'll save up for a huge upgrade in 2023, like 5800x and corsair vengance rgb DDR4 3600
and maybe a few extra NZXT aer F fans cuz I would like all my fans to be matching
by 2023 DDR5 should be a thing and newer, even more powerful CPUs around. Prices on the DDR5 ram will probably suck for the first generation or two so I really wouldn't buy into it from the off. Look how far DDR4 JEDEC speeds went in a little over 5 years. Intel 6th gen was one of the first sets of CPUs to support DDR4 and all the CPU could do was 2133MHz. Obviously you can push it further on the motherboard with XMP but now we have 11th gen Intel and Zen 3 from AMD that support 3200MHz on the CPU end
Is it true that Samsung have 10ghz RAM?
No.
With gaming laptops do i buy a new laptop by gpu generation or both gpu and cpu generation
@smoky flame ddr5 is coming later this year and the CPUs to support it as well
I know but I thought I'd just take the current situation and that first gen or two of new memory into consideration and 2023-24 seems like the best time, maybe to get into one of these DDR5 supported CPUs. Obviously some will buy the first gen from the moment it releases but prices could be crazy
is apex a play anywhere game
No, but it's a free to play game on all platforms, so doesn't really need to be Play Anywhere.
Unless your carrying stats across platforms...
Thatās cross-save. Which is up to the dev.
Gigabyte doesnāt make memory
Hynix does.
The gigabyte uses either Hynix, Micron, or Samsung memory
If it uses Hynix memory Iād avoid it
Gigabyte does make SSDs, Hynix themselves do too.
Not the memory flash itself, in general.
@full flint Iām referring to the cells
Not the ssd
The only thing youād compare the rest of the SSD for is the controller is uses
And he's asking which SSD is better.
And the quality of flash cell effectively impacts that
If itās only a temporary storage solution then pick either
If itās long term then look for one that uses Samsung or Micronās flash
Hynix flash memory has higher fail rates.
Microns is slightly slower than Samsungās but lasts longer
And is a touch cheaper as well
Yeah
This is so weird my monitor is flickering but it's not turning on or off, it only happens when I play games. Idk what to do
what monitor and GPU you got?
Asus vp249qgr xfx radeon 580
is the 580 fully up to date? Latest AMD Adrenalin drivers are 21.4.1 and it is a pretty big update. Changes quite a bit. Besides that some past drivers were known to have issues with flicker relating to Freesync under certain conditions so that's why I brought this up
apologies if the text is too small. Had to zoom out to fit all the patch notes in one screenshot
welp its updates so lets see if that worked
I spilled food on my laptop
I stopped and cleaned it up, got into some of my keys but I wiped everything I saw up
should I be worried? Keys are still working n stuff
Grease buildup?
Hmm. Yeah there was
I wiped down with a damp paper towel over the laptop, lightly on the keyboard so water didn't get below the keys
I have game pass ultimate, Iām trying to install octapath traveler on pc but it keeps asking me to pay, help
Please don't post the same question in multiple channels.
playstation is better
We don't care.
you dont wanna start this do you
no one asked
There was no need to continue that 5 hours later, was there?
@keen bloom apologies for the ping but I didn't want to post this in the general channel and keep going on about PC there but here's a desktop 3060 against my current GPU, the 5700 XT.
Couple of things to keep in mind. CPU used was a i9-10900K so the GPU overhead issue on Nvidia's end shouldn't be present (will likely be present on most laptops with Nvidia GPUs though) and these are desktop components so may have higher clocks than laptop counterparts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU7BggrF9gg
Silicon chip shortage or something like that
I didnt know the 5700 was soo op
Only game the 3060 really did better in was cyber punk
put a weaker CPU in there. Something like a 10400 and the 3060 might lose more ground on the 5700 XT. I was pretty surprised at the results too when I watched the video
I want the nzxt elite but its kinda expensive
So im stuck between choosing the nzxt elite or the h510
new update for AMD GPU owners. 21.5.1
yeah i saw that and somehow it fixed death standing menus lagging on my end
aye nap time are the best
Imagine pc
okay the lag is back so i checked what wrong in task manager and
oh no oh no no no no
what program is that using the GPU to its max? if it's a game you are fine if not I'd suggest reporting this to AMD
it might be the game is lagging because of the controller
my computer the same thing
in ram
4/4 gbs ultilizad sad
word going about AMD's FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) could release in June. Won't require any AI like Nvidia's DLSS and will even support Nvidia GPUs... AMD are too kind with all this open source stuff
Hello, Anybody wanna play Minecraft?
It requires AI but not the same type
It runs different calculations
Sub
I may buy a 5600x like now
To have for when i get the rest of my parts
Because its in stock right now
nice š
Hi
hey guys, is it possible to update xbox series x controller firmware to the Insider's version by using PC? I don't own Xbox console but would love to update firmware as it fixes SteamLink wireless connection (based on the notes).
I don't see that in the notes. Insider is normally testing console features. You maybe reading the actual release notes or the steamlink notes. to update the controller using pc: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/controller/update-xbox-wireless-controller
Thanks. Its a bit weird though they fixed issue for steamlink but require xbox console to upgrade the controller š
it doesn't require an xbox to upgrade. see the link above.
I have seen it many times. There is no way to select beta/insider firmware version. Only latest stable.
I believe we're working on getting that new build as the stable build to PC soon pagenoare
@thorny cypress Thanks!
I think I might need to upgrade my CPU cooler.
All I'm doing right now is copying my Steam library to another drive so I can format it, installing DCS World and some PC (Xbox) games on an SSD
Stock
That should be fine then
Ya. Gonna toss a 2nd F12 fan on it too
that cooler should not only be quieter than the stock cooler but also lower temperatures quite a bit too
btw what CPU is this Matt and it appears whatever program that is, is reporting that your RAM is running at 2400MHz
Will a gtx 1650 pcie 4.0 work in a motherboard which supports 2.0
I'm also running an Intel i7 2600k
my dragon center doesnt show cpu usage
or does it show the cpu usage if you have a msi motherboard
Man the nzxt h710i is wayyy better for cooling that everyone was telling me, I was getting like 60c in cpu with spikes to 70, and around 65-70 on gpu
and the gpu and cpu are rly good
In running a Ryzen 5 5600X, and the ram is 16gb ddr4-3200
nice, I'd double check your RAM is actually running at 3200MHz as it appeared to only be running at 2400MHz on whatever program that was
Alrighty, after loading in my other games I've noticed my FPS really down like between 1-10 range. So RE village wasn't the problem it was the 21.5.1 update
So yeah guess I shouldn't have refunded that game now.
Got the new cooler installed.
Holy carp does it make a huge difference. And my PC is so quiet again

I'd avoid letting a program like that take control of anything like fan curves etc and all that game boost is likely doing is enabling PBO which will have the CPU run hotter as the stock limitations are lifted. 5600X is solid even having PBO set to auto, which at least with my motherboard auto = disabled though other vendors implementations may vary
I think looking back, GameBoost wasn't helping any. I still wanted an aftermarket cooler that would do a better job and make it quieter. The stock cooler was loud.
I have the CPU and case fans set to PWM and SmartFan so they'll ramp up as temperatures increase. And I turned off GameBoost. Though I did enable A-XMP this time (which I forgot to last time) so now my RAM is running at full speed (3200Mhz)
What's PBO?
Oh it's a Ryzen thing. Precision Boost Override
Precision Boost Overdrive. I'll find a link that better explains how it works. Zen 3 CPUs also support PBO2 which adds support for a new type of undervolting through a feature called Curve Optimizer. I'll find a link for that too
I found a link for it.
as good as it sounds I really wouldn't bother enabling it. I done that one time and my CPU's temperature went up quite a bit. Near stock cooler levels! As long as you have your CPU set to stock and it is boosting to 4.6GHz properly everything is fine. No real reason to adjust anything else
My OC days are long behind me.
if anything just make sure your chipset drivers are fully up to date. Might need to remove any existing chipset drivers and install/reinstall the latest
I just want things to run without much issue (which is why I primarily console game haha) and last me a while.
Heck, it's why I removed my PFSense router and am using the one from my ISP. I was tired of fiddling with and configuring so much stuff.
I just did a fresh install of WIndows last Friday. This is a brand new build
nice, should be all set up then š
Ya. I'm pretty happy with this.
Now I just need a 6000 series AMD GPU haha
Thanks for the help, really appreciate it
same boat as me there with the 6000 series GPU and no problem. Glad to help where I can. I love PC hardware and could go on about it for hours š
I used to be like you, but then lol I took an arrow to the knee. HAHA Once I had a family my days of doing all this PC stuff were behind me. Heck, I wasn't that big of a console gamer 10yrs ago. Once I had my first kid, I lived on my 360.
I have a Radeon RX 580 that serves me well right now. Does VR well, FS2020 and DCS World both look good and run well on it too. SoT I get around 100fps, even ReCore and Halo MCC look and run smooth as silk
pretty much the reverse here. Was a console gamer up until mid 2016. Built my first PC, was really chuffed about it. So much so I got more and more used to using it and I still had a PS4 up until February 2019. Something like 16 years of console gaming and I put it to rest then. Been PC only since and slowly learning all I ought to know about the latest hardware and features
my upgrade to a 5600X was my first CPU upgrade since building my PC in 2016. From a 6700K to 5600X. I'd say it's quite the upgrade!
I used to be exclusivly AMD until I had to replace my desktop when I was doing more VO work. AMD didn't have anything with an IGP at the time and I didn't want to spend money on a GPU, so I went with a Corei5-8300 or something. Then had a Coolermaster Hyper 212 with the Noctua F12 fan and it was cool and quiet. But my server needed an upgrade (Corei7-2600) so figured why not. I could finally get a Ryzen 5 5600X
btw, an RDNA 2 upgrade from an RX 580 would be immense. Even the 6700 XT should be a really impressive leap. I'm going for a 6800 XT - or rather trying to but my attempts at saving up are going south and with prices flying it hasn't helped any š¦
I don't have to worry about that right now as no one has them in stock
I don't mean to hype you up but here's the sort of performance you can expect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfl59W3AKuM

their CPU is slightly overclocked and has SAM (smart access memory) enabled
LOL 56FPS at everything ultra
That's nuts
For FS2020
Temps are pretty low on the CPU and GPU considering
RDR2 looks amazing
FS2020 though. My god that looks real
I'm just glad to see AMD is back kicking Intel's butt.
Intel has reigned king for far too long. I remember when AMD and Intel were forcing eachother to do better, then AMD fell hard
I never got to see AMD doing it first time but I'm glad to be seeing AMD doing it now and even taking the fight to Nvidia too!
I remember when AMD Broke the 1GHz barrier
ooh
just for some fun btw. Here's the rest of AMD's GPU line up in action. You'll see why I want a 6800 XT so bad, lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMjgFJBRHVY
I remember back when video cards with 64MB of RAM, with a tiny fan were good
sounds so long ago that compared to what we got now haha
IDE?
The precursor to SATA
Was a long, slim ribbon connector
Read/Write speeds were sllooww compared to what we have now
Even a mechanical SATA drive reads/writes faster
that looks like it would have made for some horrible looking cable spaghetti and management š
It was not pretty
You had to ensure the jumpers were set correctly depending on where the drives were on the cable
You had a maximum of 4 drives in a PC, 2 per cable.
yeah, I've not even got a SATA HDD or SSD connected to my PC. M.2 NVMe only. Massive upgrade in the storage department when I upgraded my CPU. Going from a 250GB Crucial MX200 SSD and a 2TB Western Digital Black to a 1TB Adata SX8200 Pro NVMe. Might have lost over half the storage space I once had but read/write speed gains are huge
I eventually want to replace all the mechanical drives in my server with equivalent SSD, but I need 4tb and 6tb drives to plummet it price first
ouch, good luck with that there's a cryptocurrency that can work off storage. Storage prices have likely gone up in price since.

speak of the devil... https://www.techpowerup.com/281979
Chia, the new crypto-currency that relies on storage as proof-of-work to obtain, rather than processing power, is already causing widespread failures of storage devices that have a finite write endurance, according a report by Chinese tech publication MyDrivers. We've detailed how Chia farming works...
i just have to wonder if they actually make significant money considering how many forms of crypto there are and how many have failed, kinda wish it would just go away so stuff isnt overpriced
bitcoin has given me 3$ since i started investing in it
regular investments have given me more
Hey! I recently just bought a Gaming Monitor, and on the manual, it says it has sound. But when I connected it and stuff like that to test, nothing came out (sound wize)... So if someone could help me solve this problem that would be great. Thanks!
what monitor? what connection?
more often than not when a monitor's spec sheet says it supports sound it may also mean sound through headphones since it has a headphone jack. I know my Samsung Odyssey G7 specs show that
anyone know if cumulative update previews can be hidden? I'd rather just check for updates and not have some preview show like this
Oi, what was that program called that you needed with re village on the pc
Program?
news to me
Steam...

idk man my system has been a bit wonky after the installed re
Probably uses Denuvo like all the other capcom titles
idk man i heard denuvo is bad but so bad thatll make my system hic for a mintue and run a game at 3.7 fps?
Well
Thatās a bit of an exaggeration
But at the same time
I wouldnāt be surprised
Yeah. Update your GPU drivers lol
Stop trying to run it on a potato? (I'm helping!)
but all the gpus i wanted to get are out of stock or are up in the 800-1.5k range
my plan b was getting a 2060 super but thats now in 800 range
if your pc is out-date, might go for a pre-build. that's what my brother did just get a 2080, and upgrade everything else as a plus.
well everything is pretty good its just the gpu thats a radeon 580
I still think the game should be somewhat playable even if you have a 580. 8GB card, still plenty for 1080p and 1440p gaming today. Might be a little on the slow side now but it's by no way ancient. No other reports from other players with a similar set up of the same sort of behaviour? not everyone out there has the latest and greatest hardware in their system so I'm sure you are not the only one in this situation.
Is ford gt 2008 a good car in gta v?
Because my most fav chosen car i want is ford gt 2008 in gta v
Ford GT isn't even in GTA V. All the cars in the game are generic, made up
@smoky flame wrong. There are real life cars in gta5 but theyre named as fake companies and models.
That's what I meant, in a way. Like I can pick out the model of certain cars but they are not named the same and stuff
Haven't played GTA V in so long but I remember the first time coming across a car that had a model very similar to a Bugatti
was only a matter of time to see some talk of these GPUs https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-radeon-rx-6600-and-rx-6600-xt-start-listing-at-eec.html
Tbh I thought radeon was all IGPs
you know i might want to get a radeon 6600 xt
I'm dumb

its okay
the 6700 XT should be quite a nice upgrade from a 580. Every game will be more than playable then and you can make use of all the latest features
which is better gtx 1660 or gtx 1650 super
there's only around 10% of a difference between the two but overall, due to the slightly higher specs the 1660 is better
how did you update to the most recent drivers?
Yeah telling you after getting re village has done something to my system
also, what CPU you got?
I meant what steps did you take when installing the latest driver, sorry
I highly doubt a game could mess up a PC that much. If so your best option may be to fresh install windows if you haven't already tried that and RE: Village should be removed from sale for such trouble
Amd ryzen 7 3700x 8c
Armory crate
I'd ditch that armory crate program. Install driver updates etc manually. Leads to less issues
But before it needed a program was it direct x12?
RX 580 should support DirectX 12. I'm not aware of any DirectX 12 program requirement
Idk didn't you get a small white window when opening re v for the first time saying hey you also need this system wanna download it?
No I don't I really can't remember the name
I've not got RE Village btw. Too much of a chicken to play it, lol. So I'm in the dark about it. Checked to see if others have reported similar issues on forums, social media etc?
Hey uhh for a laptop what xbox controller should i use
Whichever you like. Personally, I use an Xbox One S controller when playing xCloud on PC.
hi im looking for a sqaud need 3 and need 1 igl 1 fragger 1 clutch atlest centender leuge im in champs dm me if you down
hi guys
#rules š¤ 2. Use English only. Communicate in English, but be considerate of all languages.
I have a Laptop specifically Acer Nitro 5.
It has an SSD and additional slot for another SSD and HDD. How do I know what SSD and HDD are compatible?
Check the manual?
^ that and most laptops, if recent will likely support 2.5" SSD and HDD. Probably even M.2 NVMe SSDs. Always check the manual though to be sure. My advice and knowledge on laptops is definitely lacking
Welp, idk what to do here
It only does this when I play games
I went back in driver updates, cleaned the inside of the pc, cashea is cleared from gpu, and when the game isn't the focus it runs
Game back on main screen boom back down to 2 fps
How do I get pic perms to post my pc?
Iāve got a Ryzen 5800x with a 2070s and 32gb ram
Iāve got a mining pc as well

Switched from an intel i7 9700k
hmm do I see a second monitor in that pic? make sure your main display is the one with the game active. That may be what is causing these issues!
what you mean one on the left is the main one
it would seem you have to switch them around or something. Dual monitor looks more complicated than I thought š±
3 monitors?! multiplying like gremlins! lol. Only thing I can suggest and idk if you've tried it is shutdown, disconnect all but the one display you would use for gaming and boot up. See if the issue persists then. If not then it points to something being up with multi monitor setup somewhere. Try adding one of the other two displays after that (should there be no issues with the one) repeating the shut down, connect and boot
hmmmm okay
you can monitor FPS and GPU usage in game through radeon software by pressing ctrl + shift + O
also how do i scan and repair my gpu something a guy in another discord has said
hmm scan and repair a GPU? not sure what they mean by that. All I know is nuking the drivers through a program like AMD Cleanup utility or DDU. DDU is a bit more advanced though so I suggest the first one. All it does is remove all installations of GPU drivers to which after restarting once or twice you then reinstall the latest drivers and it should be a clean install with none of the previous drivers potentially clashing with it. Last two (21.4.1 and 21.5.1) in particular may have caused some users problems when going from 21.3.2 or earlier since there is UI design changes and various new features, improvements etc
Ooof I will have to find
it, i think I still have it but not sure where it is
you can find manuals online too usually pdf format
@azure flickerapologies for the ping but have you had any luck with the monitors or drivers? š¤
It's alright, still no idea what's causing the the fps drop.
i need help with signing in i cant sign in and when i go to xbox app it closes after 5 seconds help asap pls some1!
anyone got a solution?
i tried all the ones of youtbe and xbox support but it wont work
š¦ I think the only other thing you can do now is report this to AMD. A friend on another server has been having issues with some mining rigs they have been building up lately. RX 570 I think it was and they seemed to have problems with the latest drivers to the point he had to go back to using 21.3.1/21.3.2. If the issues only came about from 21.4.1 then I'd nuke that driver and use one of the 21.3 drivers. Just note that performance might not be optimal and their may be a few issues that you unfortunately come across again that were resolved in the more recent drivers if you do this
have you tried going into settings - apps - Xbox app - Advanced options - repair?
How do I report this and besides me and your friend has anyone else reported this?
AMD have a bug report tool with their drivers if you installed the full thing and also support forums through their website and no, no one else from any of the other servers have reported any issues like this that I'm aware of. Beginning to think this may be a Polaris (RX 500) vs Driver issue. Really hope it gets fixed for you š¦
yeah
i have
reset option too? even uninstall the app to then reinstall it? if you've tried all that then I'm out of ideas, sorry š¦
yeah
i also cant sign in to microsoft on the store
it just closes the store
and in settings when i go to sign in with microsoft it says something about being their problem bla bla
also i have all services running n stuff
hmm try going into settings - account and see if it requires you to verify
rather drastic but you might have to reinstall/fresh install windows. Something is clearly up but idk what and if you've tried about everything then that looks to be the only option left unfortunately
well i saw someone resseted their pc and it still wasnt fixed
and im not resseting i have alot of important stuff
well then, I don't know what else I can suggest I'm afraid
Your only option there is to reinstall. If you do a repair installation your files wonāt be deleted
If you completely reformat then install they will
It sucks that Sunset overdrive sequel won't be on xbox just ps5
Do you mean the opposite?
No, Sony owns the IP now.
Which games on Steam would you recommend to use with the Hyperkin Duke?
That is a personal preference
idk nothing has worked
i tried looking in services and stuff
but nothing
i tried repair, and reset
also for some reason i cant connect to it in xbox game bar and i cant sign in in microsoft store
guys should i use a ryzen 5 2600 or i5-10600k, i just nee 1080p 60+ fps
why a 2600? that comparison is pretty one sided. 10600K would win it
had that been the even more recent 5600X it changes things. I may be a little biased being a 5600X owner and Intel do have some good offerings and have reduced their pricing to be more competitive but pricing aside Ryzen 5000 series are currently the best CPUs out there right now and the 5600X is more than enough for gaming at 1080p 60+ FPS
just had a quick look at 11th gen (11600K) pricing and it is very competitive! £50 or so cheaper than a 5600X at one of the stores I looked at.
Only thing is I wouldn't be the right person to ask about motherboard choice and I've heard some controversial stuff coming out about some of the motherboards. Generally with an unlocked Intel CPU (those with the "K/KF" at the end) you will want to go for the Z590 chipset (Z490 for the 10600K) as they pack most of the features you'll want with no limitations compared to other chipsets but on the other hand they are also the most expensive so be prepared to spend quite a bit I'd imagine on a good motherboard. Cost may even be greater than the CPU itself!
any fixes yet?
Does it work? If yes, then yes. If not, then no.
But no one else is reporting any issues, so sounds more like an isolated case on your side.
Can anyone recommend a good pc game (except minecraft, minecraft dungeons, halo, forza horizon, resident evil)
Gears 5, Hellblade, Doom, Prey.
Crusader Kings 3, Phogs
Thanks a lot

Is there a way to connect my speaker to my non built in speaker monitor and play the sound from there
As was said in General, if the monitor has a 3.5mm audio jack, then that should work.
Make sure you have checked the monitor settings, set the correct sound source and turned up the volume on the monitor.
I did
It didnāt work
And the sound from the controller comes in very bad cuz itās squeaking
@smoky flame sorry for the pin but lets see if this will work and maybe fist the fps drop
Thatās due to the 3.5 being a different design jack
The connection isnāt stable
Apple EarPods are the same.
well is there any fix

if only DLSS wasn't an Nvidia only feature that required AI and an RTX GPU to use it
sounds like a personal problem
more like an Nvidia problem. Don't see AMD releasing features that only works on specific hardware. Even that FidelityFX Super Resolution feature is said to support a lot of AMD's GPU and even older Nvidia GPUs. To be left behind only to be picked up by the rival, idk the word for it but I find that pretty funny
I mean if you develop a game changing feature, why would you make it for your competition as well
When you can just keep it to yourself and sell more cards
different technologies require different things
you're complaining because you don't have a compatible gpu, that's entirely a choice of your own volition. sure there are different reasoning why you would make that choice, but it's still a choice made

3090 Ti anyone?
https://www.techpowerup.com/282412
ZOTAC may have inadvertently leaked the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The latest version of its FireStorm utility mentions support for the RTX 3090 Ti. This would indicate that NVIDIA has been working on a new top-of-the-line graphics card that replaces the RTX 3090 as its most premium consumer graphics offe...
$3k
I mean
Itās not really anything new
I had a feeling as far back as when the 3090 launched that we would eventually see a 3090 Ti. Glad that feeling was right but that is going to suck for any current 3090 owner. That BFGPU Nvidia made such a big deal out of suddenly won't be so BFGPU depending on how this 3090 Ti turns out.
I mean with that logic let's not buy 3090Ti because there will be new 4xxx cards lol
true and I agree. People are crazy for even buying the 3090. I now feel like an idiot looking back for hyping up the 3090
i can't run halo master chief collection gives me error 0xc000012f
these RTX 40 series cards will probably end up playing out just like Turing to Ampere did. 2080 Ti performance in the XX60/70 tier and at half the price or less. I look forward to seeing a £650~ 3090/Ti successor soon
the cost of turing was due to the die type
don't expect prices to drop from what they launched at
Itās not gonna be that better of a card
The bus and memory are already maxed, thereās barely any cores left on the die, so pretty much just a better binned 3090 with a few extra cores
heh and probably going to cost an extra $400 on top of the 3090 because Nvidia
know what to expect now, Dark. Hence why I said $650~ for this RTX 40 series successor to the 3090/Ti. Would be similar to how Nvidia compared the 2080 Ti ($999 launch price) to the 3070 ($499 launch price) just 3090 ($1399 launch price) to 4070 ($650 launch price) GPU prices are going up though surely there will come a time when they drop otherwise customers will be lost since it outprices what many can afford. The thought of a $1000 XX70 card from Nvidia soon is horrific
bad enough we see that with how desperate things are right now but a $1000 xx70 GPU without a pandemic, scalpers, miners or shortage? I'll be heading back to console or looking at AMD or Intel GPU offerings thank you!
Having some fun overclocking my 5600X. Managed to apply a slight boost with PBO to PPT, TDC and EDC over stock while enabling and setting curve optimizer to negative 30 on all cores. The result? All cores are running at the same frequency as the single core stock was, 4650MHz and it appears to be stable
stock all cores is 4.2GHz so I've effectively overclocked some 450MHz while keeping the temperatures almost the same (70C~)

I lost you at overclockingš
So are you saying you boosted your processor and it went well?
yeah, pretty much š

I nearly bought that game. Glad I didn't. Hope that gets fixed properly
Biomutant hype!
or anywhere
I need to do a little bit of research on biomutant
when does it release again? 23rd?
or was it 25th
25th iirc
hmm. might just jump and go ahead and buy it
was hoping there'd be a punch on xbox though
had it on pre order for about two weeks. Quite like the art style of it and the game itself looks a lot of fun (and has loot!)
I...really don't care for another looter
but as long as it doesn't end up getting infested with MTX later on
lol, I love loot games. Few exceptions but I'll likely still play them all at least once. I find they can keep me playing for quite a while. In some cases way longer than a lot of non loot games
yeah, no MTX please!
I value as much of my time as I can get
the name just made me laugh "Windows98 Tech support" idk why š

because the "GPU" PCI is simply an x16 slot
the x1 cad will only use a small portion of its bandwidth, but it is compatible
Long story short, a x16 PCIe slot will pretty much support any PCIe card. The card will only use the lanes it has contacts for.
Ok thanks for the help

Does anyone have a good usb cable they recommend to use a controller on pc
Buy the dongle from microsoft
Brands vary from country to country, but I'd recommend getting one that comes with a ferrite protector on it.
Dongle imo is much better because you get full functionality of the controller and its features
if its an xbox controller it works well with the microsoft dongle no need for bluetooth, it uses the same as with xbox console
@livid brook Im guessing that it'll use up the battery as well right

How long before gpu market will go down Iām wanting to build a pc it a $400 5700 Xt is $1000
A while
Once everything else in the world goes down as well, aka when the worldwide semiconductor shortage ends
why a 5700 XT when the 6700 XT now exists? Sure, it costs more but you get better performance and access to the latest features. I have a 5700 XT and it is a great GPU. Certainly opened my eyes up to AMD but in my case I need even more performance than what the 5700 XT can give me so I'm targeting a 6800 XT and let me tell you. These things are expensive.
Idk Iāll have to look at it Iām trying to not spend a lot
Oh itās not that much more
You think that will be better then a 5700
heh same here. Things clearly aren't in our favour though I hear the 5700 XT is great at mining and miners want it so I may be able to use mine as some kind of bargaining chip and have it take off so much of the cost of a 6800 XT. Though I kind of want to keep it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3sGYaojRSk here's a look at how they compare
ASRock Radeon RX 6700 XT Challenger 12GB
ASUS ROG Strix AMD Radeon RX 5700XT 8GB
intel Core i7-10700K
MSI MAG Z490 TOMAHAWK
Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 1TB
Corsair RM850x White 80PLUS Gold 850W
RAM: 32GB (2x16) DDR4 3600MHz CL16
CPU Cooler: Corsair iCue H150i RGB PRO
Games : 1440p
Cyberpunk 2077
Assassin's Creed Valhalla 1:01
Shadow of the Tomb Ra...
Thanks
pair it up with a Zen 3 CPU and 16GB 3600MHz CL16 dual rank memory and you'll get even more performance on the 6700 XT than that shows
intel or amd?
AMD. 5600X might be a bit on the expensive side but it is one of the best CPUs out there right now for gaming and 6 cores is plenty
where is the best place to get parts
depends, where are you from and what stores have you got access to? I'm from the UK so my suggestions may not apply and prices/stock where you are could be very different
im in US
ahh, that makes things somewhat easy then. US should have lots of options. I hear Best Buy and Newegg are pretty good for stuff. Best Buy you might have to go into the store to get one of the GPUs though. Past that idk though. CPU should be fairly common. RAM might cost a little more than it should
just be sure to get a decent motherboard and PSU. NEVER cheap out on either of them. Your system will thank you for it
ok thanks for the advice
no problem. Good luck with it and be sure to get a monitor with a good refresh rate. 1080p or 1440p 144Hz+ and Freesync will work nicely with this sort of system. Oh and if you can, avoid monitors with TN panels. Go VA or IPS.
ips is good for colors i find
although va has nice colors too and higher refresh rate for the price
yeah, IPS is the best for colour accuracy or whatever the more technical term for it is but has TN-like contrasts and backlight bleed. Also tends to be the most expensive of the three.
VA isn't too far behind in colour accuracy but where it lacks, it more than makes up for in contrasts and is a good middle ground in terms of pricing. Only drawback I hear of with VA is ghosting at lower refresh rates. I don't notice any ghosting with my 1440p 240Hz VA monitor though
I have no idea what is being said here tbh
technical monitor and PC hardware stuff. Welcome to the PC gaming channel! š
All i know is response time, resolution, and how big a screen is
For monitors
And should i pay extra for the gtx desktop or stick with the gx desktop
Or whatever its called thats not rtx
response time doesn't really matter unless you are a competitive player that plays esports titles and at that point you will want a TN panel monitor with as high a refresh rate as possible and as low a resolution and screen size as is comfortable. Anything else would be too slow but TN lacks in about every other area besides that of response time. Colour accuarcy and contrasts are often poor but they are the cheapest of the three monitor panel technologies
I dont think im a esports player asmim below average at most games
But is gtx worth it or just stay with gx
Its on a desktop at dells website
what's the specs?
Hold on lemme pull it up

No, this is PC
Do I have a Forza Horizon problem pending, and I am destined to delete it, and I cannot do my appeal, but
hey guys, i got a xbox one controller and a windows wireless adapter... i already played several hours with those things.
Nba2k21 came out for free on epic game store and i wanted to play with my controller again... first of all the controller wasnt connected anymore, idk why but ok. Then i tried to pair them again but it wont work, i press xbox logo on the controller and pressed the pair thing on the front, then i pressed the button on the wireless adapter and both of them blinked, the controller fast and the adapter slow-ish but they wont pair...
less goo
i had that problem with my wirless adapter too. I dont really understand it, or what happened, but I think the adapter eventually broke. Since I have a very old controller, I'm going to try and get a xbox elite controller which is compatible with bluetooth on pc. If that doesn't work then idk what will
I got borderlands 3 digitally on my Xbox I was curious is it possible to play that on my pic
I don't understand an article like this, especially AMD CPUs https://www.techradar.com/news/amd-admits-budget-ryzen-cpus-are-suffering-the-most-with-stock-shortages
shouldn't the higher end CPUs be harder to achieve since they require multiple CCD? Lower end likely only requires one and it doesn't even have to be good. I thought that was the whole point of this "binning" process. If die doesn't make it as X CPU bin it as Y CPU

obviously not a gaming GPU but wow! I'm imagining two 6900 XT chips together as one GPU, along with "next gen" optimizations. Such a GPU would be a complete monster. Though I'd hate to see the price and power requirements for it š
I had the weirdest dream
I only wanted to get a rx 580 and i got one and then my mom stole it from me and so i got a 3060 and was disappointed with it
Weirdest dream ive ever had
Thatās not at all what the article is talking about. Itās saying AMD is focusing on making the higher end chips because thatās whatās currently experiencing the shortage since the demand is so much larger for them
Basically everyone wants 5900x and not many people want 5600x
Months of speculation can now start to come to an end, with NVIDIA themselves officially teasing the soon-to-be-released RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti graphics cards. These come in to supplant NVIDIA's previous category leaders RTX 3080 and RTX 3070, updating and increasing their performance so as to ...
5600X is still a solid CPU though. More than enough for the gamers out there but yeah, those that need the higher core counts will of course want the higher end models and now I get what the article meant
3060 is a pretty poor GPU. Performance on it is comparable to a 5700 XT just with support for ray tracing and DLSS - the latter likely gives it some advantage over the 5700 XT in supported titles when enabled but not a great GPU. Only thing it really has going for it besides DLSS support is 12GB VRAM
Itās a solid cpu but itās just not what people want right now
Hence why theyāre in stock literally everywhere now while the better CPUs are still getting resold
6 core CPUs are pretty much budget CPUs now, just for the sole reason that the performance gains from having 8+ is so substantial now
I agree with the 6 core CPUs being budget now. In fact, with Zen 4 I could even see 6 cores being moved to Ryzen 3 and 8 cores Ryzen 5. If the talk of Zen 4 turns out anything like what I've seen so far 12 cores could occupy Ryzen 7 and we could a 24 cores Ryzen 9 CPU. Not to mention a 96 core Threadripper
also, quad core Athlons anyone? š
3060 laptop is lit for me so far
Noice
so when is this new windows update gonna happen
what one?
Well considering he said coming soon
Kind of silly to ask here like any of us know more
well i only saw that article so maybe someone else saw a different one where it has a date
The Verge reckon they'll be an event in the next few weeks or so on this https://www.theverge.com/2021/5/25/22453222/microsoft-windows-next-generation-announcement-sun-valley-build-2021-keynote
Soon is a relative term.
Playsation
What about it @golden ocean
I hate Playsaturation
I donāt even know what that is
like Ps4
why?
If that update is actually big I'll eat my shoes.
I mean, I can't think a single feature that would greatly improve current Windows 10 experience.
Drake hollow?
guys I have a question
I booted my PC today, and I could notice that the taskbar didnt have any app icons on it, and if I hovered my cursor over it, the cursor changed to the blue spinny cursor
same when I pressed right click
and the apps werent responding, and when I pressed the windows button the screen would turn black, and If I tried to shut down and restart, shutting down took an abnormal amount of time
like above 15mins
f
This may be caused by the App Readiness service, as I have encountered this same issue after a CPU change and when I disabled that, it helped.
Can you use the xbox capture button on computer?
No
Possibly in the future.

hi
I got a free GPU upgrade on Friday. So hyped ya'll. ā¤ļø
what GPU?
yay congrats! Yeah which one did u get?
I traded my ASRock Taichi 5700xt for the Sapphire Nitro+ 6700xt š @smoky flame @hard nest
ooh nice!
ohhh nice
had time to install it?
Yep! Was about to test some games last night but all of them needed updates. And then my kiddo woke up. š
Haha nice. @viral crest well hope U get to play soon!
Yea should be able to here in a bit. š
lol
Just keep in mind ray tracing performance won't be that good, at least not yet but there are many features in some recent games that will have them run even better than your old 5700 XT could. I look forward to being able to hopefully upgrade my 5700 XT some time soon too. Only I'm going for a 6800 XT
the 6800 XT sounds like the next step upgrade. I've also got the 5700XT - though tbh so far it's handling games pretty well
it's more of a leap of an upgrade I'd say. Even the 5700 XT to 6700 XT is something like a 20% improvement. 6700 XT to 6800 XT is 24% or so on to of that again so near 50%. Features like SAM/resizeable bar like take it into the 50% region then then there is also Radeon Boost with VRS support (VRS something RX 5000 cards don't support). Possibly even FSR to add to that real soon
Yea I don't care about Ray Tracing much yet, but going from 8GB to 16GB is huge
Also, post up your card on local sites like Facebook. That's how I got my trade. You could easily get a 6700xt straight up. The 5700xt is a good mining card which is why people will do that.
6700 XT is 12GB and yeah, I've been tempted to try just that but 5700 XT for a 6800 XT + some cash to make up the difference but I doubt I'll get that :( Most sellers likely looking for full cash or a 3080 for swap
hmm then I might give this a go. What were the 6800 plus cash offers like?
The ones around Minneapolis wanted like $500. Way too much imo.
ouch, yeah. That is a lot. Had hoped to spend no more than £400 on top of a 5700 XT swap for a 6800 XT but that doesn't look like that will be possible. Here's how the pricing looks in the UK on ebay for the 5700 XT I have. Crazy considering I bought it almost a year ago for £395!
does any1 know how I can get game pass on pc to download/update games while i'm on a tethered connection?
Uh get better connection or use phone hotspot
i am using my phone's connection via usb
Oh damn hm try to use a vpn to a place with better signal it works for me
i don't want to use my home's internet as it'll take up all the bandwidth and lag other members in the houseshold
Yes yes
i'm connected to a vpn server that a city next to my own
Ight well then I shouldnāt see the problem
when i try to download a game via game pass it'll download a couple of MB then it drops down to 0
