Ok
hello guys, I've spotted a program that I didnt download, what is it, cuz it just shows up as a black box in my screen
I did, all I got was download voice recognition engine and stuff
I may have found out what it is and it only took one search
it's not a virus so you are safe. Part of another program you may be using though
No you are died!
o no
what program?
o ok, I use that, cuz msi gpu
It’s listening for Bitcoin
btw, how come some gaming mice have additional weights? My Logitech G502 has some optional weights included in the box but I haven't used them yet. 5x 3.6g
I don't get that either but the G502 (without weights) is almost 50% heavier than the mouse I had. Logitech G Pro (wired). 85g vs 121g
I have g502 and i use all 5 weights
idk i feel like i have more control with the heavier mouse
@smoky flame its all preference, i dont use the extra weights in any of mine, but i do think the G502 remains the best all around mouse on the market
Heads or tails
Can the share button on the Xbox One controllers be mapped as a normal game button (like the normal XYAB etc) or is it limited?
M2QG2-6WK7J-GR67G-QCC6Y-TTXMZ un codigo para xbox que yo no tengo xbox
Can you keep it to english please as stated in the rules?
My PC #teamlaptop
Weow
I can't believe it. I'm actually logged in and playing SWTOR.
i need some help
specs?
Ohh it's pc gaming
RIP Flash Player, now downloading an update titled "Removing Adobe Flash Player". Interesting that MS actually bothered with that when Adobe were already offering an unistall option.
There will be a lot of people who aren't aware of it, or care enough to download the remover. It makes sense for it to be removed at an OS level.
I mean it literally spammed "Adobe Flash Player is not supported and will not run any Flash based application after 2021" each reboot, it's kinda hard to avoid tbh. But good job anyways.
You underestimate the ignorance of the average PC user. 😄
People close warnings all the time because they're too lazy to read them.
I've had users store super important emails in the trash in Outlook, then kick off when they get deleted after 30 days because they thought it was a safe place to store things.
there are also some system level components for flash that that doesn't remove that the update does
just seen a 6700 XT come in stock here. Wish I had never clicked the link. Hard pass from me when I could have had one just last week for £490
and here's another that just popped up in stock. With those prices I'd sure hope these cards are amongst the best. Though they definitely aren't worth what we should have been paying for a 6800 XT
AMD Ryzen 5 4000 Series. Nvidia GTX 1650 with 4 gigs dedicated VRAM, 8 Gigs of Ram upgradeable to 32 (which I need to do). 256 gig SSD but it has a total of 2 SSD slots and 1 HDD slot. So when I get the money I will upgrade storage and Ram.
Also a 1080p Full HD screen with 60hz refresh rate
Not 4k but its better then most of the stuff I have
For $720 specs arent bad. They basically give u crappy storage for a decent GPU and screen
rip
Is that a acer? Kinda blurry
what game pass games can run on my pc? it is 8 gb
and it's an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40GHz
can I download games for free on my computer through microsoft store if I already have them on my xbox
if you get a microphone such as this https://www.amazon.co.uk/microphone-Tdbest-Professional-Podcasting-Silver/dp/B08CSB1XGP plug it into a splitter and plug any headphones into the other port of the splitter, will it work on the controller ?
With Gamepass ultimate kinda. As long as their available on PC Gamepass as well as Xbox Gamepass
unless they are play anywhere titles, or a select few other, no. you have to have the pc version
even if the game is cross compat with pc and xbox
damn, my laptop(which I dont use no more) had a i7-9750H and a GTX1650 with 6GB VRAM and 16GB of ram and a 500gb ssd and a 1tb ssd with 1080p 144hz screen for like....2070usd (1.5lakh rupees)
I thought it was like 1200usd
heh, 2070, thats funny cuz thats the gpu I wanted before the 30series got announced
U can get a laptop with a 3080 for 1200
oh
so like the store that is like one of the most popular in my country is selling laptops with 1650s and 1660s and i7 9th gen for more than the retail price of a FE 3090
idk what to tell you but that sure as heck is a SCAM
Laptops are always expensive
is it normal for a keyboards keys to switch finishes ( like from rough and not reflecting to a glossy finish and then back)
or is it just my sweaty hands
dont open that^^
thx to whoever deleted it
tbh i feel interested in trying quake at some point. seems like a good fps
well i did enjoy doom, so maybe i'll enjoy it?
ok
and quake is only 5 bucks on steam. not bad
sometimes the cheaper games can be good. like quake and doom
k
those two u could try sometime shadowfury
tbh what would be some nice fps games on steam that are like 5 to 10 bucks?
totally accurate battlegrounds
it's insane, hilarious and stupid at the same time
ok, what about something like quake, or doom, or even half life
maybe wolfenstein if u will
okay cool

A lot of it is also based on your CPU and Storage when running at those speeds
As your CPU has to unpack, decompress, and allocate the files onto tour storage
So they’re as equally important as your Network Adapter and Network Speed

can anyone tell me how I tell what drive i installed a game to?

oh that works. thanks.
gee that is long
So pc gamers, here's a question for u. is call of duty warchest on steam worth it? it's 29.99 and comes with call of duty 1, the call of duty united offensive expansion pack, and call of duty 2.
I don’t think so. I rarely pay full price for a game on PC.
https://www.techpowerup.com/280278 clearly this isn't consumer level cooling. I don't see why extreme overclocking records are even reported on and marketed seeing as the conditions for it are so... extreme. it's just silly.
not like anyone is going to be actively gaming on a PC cooled by LN2. I'd love to see how that works out. Would take more than one person to maintain it all and overall would just be a major inconvenience to the user. Intel's marketing sure is getting desperate to try and one up AMD right now lol
if i'm right there is a amd fx-8350 that reached 8.7 ghz
yeah, again LN2. Not something anyone would actually cool their CPU with on a day to day use. Most will use air coolers or liquid cooling, whether that is with an AIO or a custom loop
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/mf9u73 damn, $3000! Tbh I expected that though if it is still g sync ultimate with no support for Freesync Premium Pro I can't help but feel costs could have been cu- oh wait, it's Asus and Nvidia we're talking never mind
HDMI 2.0 too. Well this monitor is pretty much DOA. Might as well not include HDMI 2.0 ports when the only port capable of powering the display to it's fullest would be Displayport 1.4 or HDMI 2.1
You're paying the tax for quality
It doesn't need 2.1
as it stands right now FreeSync isn't actually capable of pushing 360hz with those response times
for $3000 I'd expect it to be flawless and idk if that is even possible with tech these days. Monitors in particular. Always something up with them
it's the hardware module that makes it even remotely feasible
Don't tell the console channels but PC is the best place to play Xbox now.
PC + PS5 (+ Switch if that's your thing)
I don’t agree
They all have pros and cons. Series S + Gamepass is the best bang for your buck
And I only play on pc
Only if you want it to be
I mean, the cheapest way to game is to invest in a good PC up front and then not pay for an online service and only buy games on sale
Even the Series S + Game Pass gets more expensive (over time)
You won’t even get close to the series S + gamepass in terms of cost over 5 years compared to what you get
$300 + 180 a year for ultimate. That’s $1200. That’s what most people spend on a pc to do the same thing, and that’s without buying any games
Well then let’s factor in your games
Because I’m sure you don’t have 300+ games and haven’t gone over 1200
Are we going to factor in the extended storage cost on the S
Or the games that aren't on Game Pass
Let’s throw that in just to benefit your argument
$1400
Get me a pc plus 300 games, including some games day one on launch, that won’t cost you over 1400
I don't want 300 games
You know what, don’t even include day ones. They can all be sales
My PC library is Halo MCC, Forza, Gears of War, and then a few Steam tactical shooters. I actually lose money with Game Pass because I won't touch 295 of those 300 games, but that's just me
The point is, you can build a cheap pc and buy like 6 $10 steam games, but your experience is going to be bare bones and miserable comparatively
I’m in the same bucket as you
That's fair, the Series S is definitely the best value in gaming right now, but price is just one slice of it, IMO. I don't object to owning an Xbox console either, they're great too.
I have an Xbox, PS5, and PC. I just find myself with less reason to use the Xbox console these days. That might change when the Bethesda exclusives drop, because I like playing games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls on the couch.
I've saved a lot of gas money not commuting to an office during the pandemic haha.
I play on all of them, but even with my Rig I mostly use it for production work
or games that I ether double/triple dip on, or ones I want to see in their full glory. I enjoy xbox's ecosystem overall so I find it easier to just pick up and play on there while doing other stuff on my PC to save resources
even comparing the X+Game Pass can still be an excellent value
is EA play on PC now included with ultimate?
yes
what do I need to use the games?
A Pc?
yeah, get that but do I need an app or something? lol
The Xbox app
k so the thing is, I'm "game sharing" on PC, and the account that I want to play on doesn't have ultimate. is that not a thing with ea pass? normally it just says the store is in a different account.
There’s no game sharing on PC. You need to be logged into the account that has Ultimate to play. Or buy a separate subscription.
there IS game sharing on PC. as long as your account is signed into the store, you can use a different account on xbox app.
Discussion of that is not allowed here
wait, why?
it's not illegal, MS support suggested to do it.
🚨 12. No piracy, sexual, NSFW, or otherwise suspicious content. We do not condone discussions of illegal or suspicious activity. This includes content that break Xbox terms of use, game sharing outside your household, emulation, discussions of self-repair, disassembly of hardware, and more.
As with all technical support from pretty much any company, sometimes they give you the wrong information
There’s a human on the other end. Humans make mistakes
Then sign into the account and play?
There is a setup guide on the xbox app
no, I only use it for the annual sub. I play on an another account that has no sub. can show proof.
works fine with the xbox app, but not working with the ea app.
No idea. I’m only familiar with Xbox’s systems
The account that is linked to your EA Account is how it is checked
the account containing the sub will need to be linked to your EA Account
It’s a different app. Follow the instructions on the xbox app to setup and link the accounts.
I don't see how to link it
On the Xbox app, select an EA Play game, it’ll take you through setup if you haven’t. If you’re still having issues try #233805809346150400
coded
On the EA play beta app, log into your EA account. Make sure it's linked to ur xbox ultimate account.
I imagine linking it would be on ur account settings for ur EA account
What i did was when I tried to play NFS rivals I created my EA account and then linked it on my xbox
anyone having trouble with the xbox app?

Mine logged me out and says i need to install a bunch or stuff thats already installed
yeah im having the exact same thing, we were just talking about it in community support
hopefully they figure it out and fix it soon, so i can go back to playing moar bethesda games
okay so its not just me
yeah, not just you
okay. well. I guess i just wait then
it might be related to some change they made due to integrating EA play, the timing would be roughly correct, but thats just speculation on my part
we'll both just have to wait it out
It’s not
That change happened a bit ago
Not today
yeah the issue popped up for me last week, a reinstall fixed it, for a day, now its back, google says tons of others have had it pop up since at least the middle of last year, so i have no idea whats going on, i just know its broken and i cant use my pc game pass
hmm I must have missed it but AMD added Radeon Boost support for Cyberpunk 2077. Strange thing is though I enabled it and nothing seems to be happening
cyberpunk bug maybe
probably lol
would have been crazy to see the FPS I could have got enabling both Radeon Boost and setting it to 50% then enabling Dynamic CAS in game and setting the FPS limit to 240 FPS and minimum resolution scaling to 50%. Was getting up to 90 FPS with just the dynamic CAS in game option but it looked really blurry
all this still on a 5700 XT
Anyone play deadspace 1 off gamepass yet
If you're looking for someone to play with, please go to #587074461770186765
@smoky flame i still think its funny that your 5700XT gave you far better performance in most modern DX12 titles with your old 6700K than even the 3090 would have
that sidegrade off of the 1080Ti was a blessing in disguise
sure was. Early on I was doubting it but as time went on I grew to like the 5700 XT more than I liked the 1080 Ti and with stuff like that driver overhead issue being exposed it only proves I was right to move on from Nvidia. Never doubting the actions I take ever again. Most of them lately have turned out, over time to work out in my favour one way or another
yeah, in modern games, even a 5600XT or a 5500XT would have beaten a 3090 with your old cpu
not that it would be much of an issue with your 5600X, but as next gen only games come out and push cpus harder, that issue will pop up even on modern cpus, more and more
certainly any next gen only game that pushes the console cpus and is 30fps will see that issue happen even on a cpu like the 5600X pushing for higher framerates
so stick with AMD if I don't want to deal with any of this overhead issue Nvidia has? - at least until they fix it, if it can be fixed that is
basically
nvidia's decisions with how to manage scheduling were quite deliberate, and in the past it wasnt an issue because the cpu in the consoles were potatos, but its becoming an issue more and more now
it was an intentional choice to get a lot more performance back in those days, but as a result, they're still doing all of their scheduling in software and cant fix it without new gpus
Can't wait to some day get an RX 6000 GPU and enable SAM. Probably one of the first things I actually do when I get one. Even more performance!
so ampere is crippled, and they need to address it in hardware, the same way amd addressed it quite literally over a decade ago with the first gcn card, by handling scheduling and dispatch purely in hardware
amd solved the issue before it became an issue, and their push for low level apis way back then reflects their hardware design choices, nvidia fought low level apis until they became required for the effect they wanted to push (raytracing), because they knew that it would cost them
nvidia will fix it, if not this next gen, then the one after that
but its too late to solve it for ampere (or older gpus)
no doubt but the damage has been done. I wonder how many will switch to AMD going forward considering next gen GPU pricing will have been impacted from all the crazy stuff that's been happening about the past year or whatever. I fear we might not see a recovery out of this mess 😦
things will recover, eventually
intel is opening its fabs up to third parties, samsung and tsmc are building brand new facilities in the US this year
in arizona iirc
all that still takes times. Sounds like 2022 might be the start of some recovery but that sounds some way out and in the meantime things are hardly going to get any better. Hell, I bet that evergiven ship had some GPU stock on it and some vendor (MSI or Asus) will try to use its delay as a further excuse to increase prices on this stuff
maybe
Eh dont count yur chickens till they hatch with nvidia.
nvidia gpus don't have the ability to handle scheduling purely in hardware, there is quite literally nothing nvidia can do to solve their current driver overhead issue, it was a blessing in the DX11 days where the cpu would have tons of resources to spare and you could just push cpu usage higher and end up with better performance overall, but now, game cpu usage is very high in low level api titles, and they just don't have the headroom , so they hard bottlneck to the point that $180 amd gpus beat $1500 nvidia gpus in those situations
they need a new hardware design to solve the problem
which they no doubt will, but that aint on current parts
I still don't know if it was pure luck what I done or coincidental but something about Nvidia for a while just seemed off to me. Long before all this GPU overhead thing was exposed. I can't quite describe it but I'm glad I took the chance to try an AMD GPU. No regrets. Paid around £100 less than it would have cost me if I went for a 2070 Super and I'd have been faced with the overhead issue so would have made for worse value for money, even factoring in DLSS in supported titles
yeah it even pops up with gpus as slow as the 2060
where amd just runs away with it in modern api titles with cpus like the R5 1400 and even the 9400F
This topic is something I really wanted to cover last year, but due to work scheduling (hah!), I was never able to fully formulate it into a presentation format. But I felt it had to be covered before Vega's release.
Hopefully the presentation makes sense for you guys, it's not an easy topic to talk about in simple terms.
To better clarify, I...
Years old but does a better job explaining why nvidia CHOOSE this
nvidia chose correctly, 10 years ago, that choice for hardware that came out at the end of 2020 was poor though
they knew they had issues in low level apis years ago and still made the same choice, and fought against devs supporting DX12 until they couldn't fight anymore
and now, they pay the price for that choice, where nvidia's flagship is slower than low end amd gpus if your cpu isn't zen3, or a 9th gen i7 or faster
it was very much a choice, but that choice reflects in the hardware design as well, and they cannot fix it on any of their current parts now that its actually a major issue, so they'll do what amd chose to do 11 years ago with GCN, and switch to hardware scheduling
got to love how Jensen said it was finally safe for Pascal owners to upgrade yet unless you were lucky enough to get one and have a system that may minimize the overhead problem it sure doesn't seem a safe time to upgrade after all. With AMD I get no bad, off putting feelings about them. They seem warm, welcoming and open
the issue even happens with 9th gen i5s, which aren't slow cpus by any means, and this is before next gen only games start pushing cpu requirements up way, way, way higher than they are right now
I blame intel for that just because it seems like something an intel would do lol
this is happening in games designed to run on potato netbook cpus from 2013, what happens in games designed for modern cpus that have 5 - 6x the cpu requirements?
the issue will become far more commonplace
I have an r5 2600 and a 3060 ti and honestky idk what ppl talking about
Like i still get 100fps which is what i expected from my 2600
in DX12 titles a $200 amd gpu from literally 4 years ago would be faster than your brand new $400 2021 3060Ti
with your hardware combination
i get higher fps with dx12 on smite
yes, but you dont get higher fps than an equivalent or even cheaper amd gpu would, and thats the issue
you're getting far less performance than you should be getting
won't that be a double whammy? CPU bottleneck and GPU overhead issue
you should be able to roughly match a 6700XT in basically every game, give or take, and yet, in anything using DX12 at any resolution lower than 4k, you'll lose to a 5600XT that's half as fast, with your 2600
I feel like thats because its a 2600
no, its because of nvidia's hardware design choices
Spaced out lmao
games designed to run on ultra low clocked netbook cpus from 8 years ago are having this issue with modern cpus like 9th gen intel and 2nd and even 3rd gen ryzen
when games start being next gen exclusive, the issue will become apparent even on zen3 cpus, in a lot more games
I really feel like amd making the gpu and cpu would idk give them an idea how to make drivers work well?
nvidia knew full well what choice they were making with their hardware and driver design, and that choice served them well in 2013 - 2016-ish
but low level apis made it really apparent really early on that nvidia were hopelessly outclassed in that arena
How many games use dx11 still?
I don't get that though> How can these consoles cause so much problems for Zen 3, a CPU that is past the spec than the one found in the consoles right now
not many, most new AAA games are DX12 now
the last high profile DX11 only title was microsoft flight sim, and its getting converted to DX12 exclusive sometime this year along with major performance overhauls, since being on DX11 is crippling performance for them
zen3 doesn't exhibit the problem @smoky flame , zen2 does still though
zen3 will exhibit the issue in a big way once games are designed around the 8c zen2 parts in the XSX and ps5, rather than being cross gen
Also isnt most of this issue caused by just the sheer bloat of the drivers? Just so much random stuff included nowadays
no, the issue is caused by the fact that nvidia's still doing scheduling in software, because it used to be that cpus had tons of headroom to spare since games a decade ago werent doing much interesting with cpus and were largely dual threaded at most
that isnt the case anymore, modern DX12 titles push the cpu pretty hard, so nvidia's design choice is now a hinderance, they dont have half a cpu to spare to brute force scheduling anymore
wait a year and toss a 5600X in there on the cheap
you'll be fine for a decent while with it
next year zen4 comes out, at which point, zen3 cpus will go on firesale prices to clear out stock
this happens every time a ryzen launch is going on
I thought zen4 was out?
no
ryzen 5000 is zen3, and the last cpu generation that will appear on am4 motherboards
zen4 will be the next generation ones, new socket, DDR5 memory support, all that fancy stuff
Yea but i have faith in nvidia doing something. Thsy have to with akd having some stock compared to them lol
nvidia can't magically redesign all of their existing gpus
their driver overhead exists because their gpus can't do scheduling purely in hardware
that's not something nvidia can change, at all
if they could have fixed it they would have fixed it with kepler, maxwell, pascal, turing, or ampere, and yet the issue still persists and the design choices remain the same
They can improve them
again, how?
Sure not a complete miracle fix but streamlining might help
they have to do in software what amds been doing purely in hardware for literally over a decade, because those were the choices they made in design
Looks at 7970
Drivers can be improved, streamlined, and optimized
Sure maybe not the architecture
but none of that fixes the problem that's causing all of this
Never said it would
But id rather something of an improvement over nothing would you agree?
- nvidia gpus cannot do their own scheduling, they rely on the driver doing it cpu side, and 2. even if nvidia could mutlithread their scheduler, nvidia gpus can't execute things asynchronously no matter what their driver will report to software regarding doing so, so the gpu still has to wait for every command to be sent in-order, so the bottleneck remains
Nvidia gambled on dx11 lasting a few more years but they lost. Now they gotta go work the software fields for next gen and fix their poker face
I wouldnt be surprised if nvidia foynd a way to speed up the sending somehow. Dont ask me how im not an engineer
Its just nvidia has to be at least working on something for fixing it. They knew the time would come
if nvidia could have solved it with a new driver we would have seen it fixed 5+ years ago when it first became apparent that there was an issue with nvidia gpus in low level apis
there are other issues that popped up in some games for the same reasons
it wasn't as widespread, but it was known to nvidia more than half a decade ago and they've done literally exactly nothing to solve it, because they can't on existing parts
I mean u could say the same about amd in some regards
amd's had exactly zero major issues with low level api titles that persisted for more than a few weeks post launch
you can't say the same thing, because david wang at least had the good sense to design the hardware in a forward thinking manner rather than relying on bribing devs to keep supporting the old api and cripple the companys competitor's cards on purpose
Not low level apis but there were def issues with amd drivers
Now we wait like we did with amd and see what they do to remedy the situation
amd's issues were purely related to software, software can be fixed
nvidia's issues are purely related to hardware, and you cant change existing hardware
nvidia hasn't even acknowledged that the issue exists as of yet, and its unlikely they ever will, since reviewers only ever review gpus using the top of the line cpu, rather than the cpus their viewers are likely to be using, which are a generation or two old
if reviewers tested with the cpu that 90%+ of their viewership was likely to be using with the gpu in question, the issue would have popped up years ago all over the tech press
Probably investigating something good to say before they admit they scrwwed up
the only reason that ppl go with nvidia is because the software is easy to use and have a easier card ranking
like gt 710 bad gtx 1060 good
Humble bundle with control a good buy?
Anyone from the UK able to link me a good 1440/120FPS monitor?
@smoky flame good thing i moved over here like Rhinne said, so we didnt mess up all that chat going on in general right now, even though the conversation 1. started in general and 2. was about televisions originally and has nothing to do with pc gaming specifically and 3. wasn't started by me 🤷♂️
Drop the snark
you're the one singling me out and picking on me, making me chat in channels that arent even specifically on-topic, for a conversation i didnt even start, im not being snarky, im upset that the mods consistently single me out to pick on me for no reason, i haven't even broken any rules or anything and you're on my case
I'm not picking on anyone. I made a polite request to move the tech talk over here so that other people can talk in General. Drop the victim act.
pc gaming is about pc, the conversation was about televisions, so its not even on topic here in the first place
Just drop it and stop arguing. You're making an issue out of a polite request based on how chat ends up when you and Sub get talking about specs. Scroll up, there's hours of it filling this channel.
I've had people tell me when General gets filled with PC/techy talk they don't want to talk.
No one was picking on you at all, so stop playing victim and get over it.
Do you have nothing else in Life to complain about?
They could have just said and I would have stopped, like I did when you said to stop. I didn't think us talking about that stuff on general would honestly cause some to feel like they don't want to talk. That was never my intention. Just friendly discussion when the subject pops up, as I'm sure you know by now how passionate I am with most PC related subjects. Though tbf I don't know when to stop sometimes 😄
That wasn't directed at anyone specifically, it's just a thing that has been mentioned when General can get that way. That's why I asked for it to be moved here once stat charts started being posted so that General can stay more, well, General.
You two enjoy talking specs (or at least you do it a lot), so I didn't want it to get too heavy in there.
yeah, no worries. I'll keep it to this channel more often in the future. 👍
Thanks for being understanding about it. 👍🏻
man, this wait for some stock notifications on GPUs sucks! Some days my phone gets flooded with notifications, other days hardly a thing
This past six months has been flooded with so many stock notifications for a bunch of different things. It’s been ridiculous.
Thankfully I’ve got everything I need, for myself and others, for now. Although may be after a GPU myself at some point. Depends on whether I just get a custom prebuilt from a work gift.
last week was crazy. Kept getting stock alerts from Overclockers UK. No idea how many I got in the end but it sure annoyed me. I kind of wish the site I use to check for stock on GPUs could also select specific stores then I wouldn't get anywhere near as much spam as I got then
hey @full flint sorry to bother you but do you know any other sites that are reliable where I can keep up to date with PC hardware news? I frequently check Guru3D and TechPowerUp but want more sites to stay as up to date on all this as possible
their hardware review team are steve and tim from hardware unboxed
and they post a lot of news content as well
nice, I think I can definitely trust that source for news. Really like Hardware Unboxed's content on YouTube. Thanks! 🙂
btw, I also may have found out why Radeon Boost wasn't working for me with Cyberpunk 2077. It might not be a bug but rather it supports the VRS side of Radeon Boost meaning only the RX 6000 series cards are supported when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077 and Radeon Boost
LG 27" 27GN950-B 3840X2160 4K NANO IPS 144HZ 1MS HDR 600 FREESYNC/G-SYNC COMPATIBLE LED WIDESCREEN G - is this a good gaming monitor for the series x? @ruby spear
doesn't support HDMI 2.1 so you won't reach 4K 120Hz on the Series X @full flint
Biomutant on EA Play Pro day 1, can check yourselves
Oh sub did I show you my new setup
The outer ones are hooked up the the second pc and working is a breeze now
that looks awesome!
what does XLR8 mean?
I'm still struggling to imagine what having two monitors would be like. Three looks somewhat crazy but I do like how it looks and stuff. Pretty happy with one monitor just now but after I upgrade my GPU. Pretty set on trying to get a 6800 XT, I may look at 1440p ultrawide - Something I never thought I'd say. Just that G9 that really interests me. It's 49" display with the 1000R curve just looks so futuristic
I returned my G9, faulty panel
It's amazing otherwise though
There's a newer model coming with a newer panel though so hopefully that version isn't as bad
I'm running dual 1440p 144Hz now with my second display in portrait on my left side
yeah, that's the one I'm eyeing up but half expecting it to be very expensive. Heard it will be miniLED and HDR2000 and the 240Hz remains. All that on top of the Samsung Odyssey branding is sure to be premium. Won't be surprised if it is in the same sort of ballpark as Samsung's upcoming Neo QLED 8K TVs
i thought it was pronounced as "exhilarate"
I started with one, then got a second one for content creation, then over the span of a year started to have moments where I could’ve used a third to make things easier, so I eventually got one. If you would’ve told me two years ago that I’d have 3 I’d say bs
All I could see myself using the second monitor for is to check Discord, browse the web and watch videos while I game. Currently I don't keep Discord or Microsoft Edge open while I game but that would change with a second display for sure

Knew nvidia had something in the works
that is just Nvidia's equivalent to AMD's SAM that's supported on their Zen 2 and Zen 3 CPUs and Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs

11600k review, still loses to zen3, and sees regressions in some games, as expected
even with a max OC it fails to match any zen3 part, even when those are stock
on average, the 11600k is wholly outclassed by amds 6 core equivalent, for gaming, and still loses in productivity
seems like ian's review of the 11700k was spot on afterall, despite being early
regressions in a lot of games, fails to match amds months old parts, core for core or clock for clock
tbf though that sort of FPS on Rainbow Six Siege would hardly be a noticeable difference. Even the 1% lows on the majority of those CPUs tested are greater than the current highest refresh rate seen on a monitor (360 Hz) so it is one of the few titles that can actually make full use of the 360Hz without dropping any settings, albeit at 1080p and 3090. Definitely overkill as hell for 1080p gaming, lol
ian's 11900k is ~1 - 2% faster than the 11700k for games, as expected with its clockspeed bump, and still loses to zen3
right, but its a game that can be pushed in that way to see what gains you actually get
I don't see why Intel bothered with an 8 core i9 considering it is a minimal improvement over the 8 core i7. The i9 pricing puts it right in the firing line of a 5900X and that is trouble considering it is 4 cores short. As I thought, there is no contest in value there. Even if I didn't need a 12 core CPU I'd buy the 5900X over the 11900K any day. I'm sure those extra cores could be put to use some day
11700K would compete directly with the 5800X. Haven't really seen the price for the 11700K but I've seen the 5800X sell for £420 or there about. If pricing is identical it would all come down to what CPU can game better and handle productivity tasks faster. Otherwise the cheaper of the two wins that one
ok, the 11700K is £390 from the same store. Only a £30 difference. I'd call that pretty close
11700k loses to the 5800x in nearly every workload
and motherboards costs 2x+ what they do for the 5800X
you can get boards for $70 with full overclocking and memory oc support for the 5800X, you need a $170+ motherboard for the 11700k, and with it pulling 291w, you need a much higher end one than that for productivity
so its still no contest on value @smoky flame 😉
if you want to push the 11700k for productivity, you're gonna need a $250+ board, and a very high end cooler
for a 5800X you can use a $20 air cooler and a $70 motherboard
so it still costs $300+ more for an 11700k build, for worse performance in 99.999% of apps and games
guess that settles that then
one thing I've been wondering about. What's that feature to do with SSDs, mainly the NVMe ones Nvidia spoke about some time ago? Does it only affect PCIe 4.0 NVMe or will PCIe 3.0 NVMe also see a boost once this feature goes live?
I feel really bad for this guy 😦
that's nvidia marketing for DX12 directstorage
amd supports it too, and its also how the xbox series X manages to have load times that match or beat ps5 in multiple comparisons between the two, despite the ssd being less than half as fast on paper
directstorage only requires that your SSD be connected directly to cpu managed pci-e lanes and not chipset lanes
so, the primary pci-e slot on intel Z590 motherboards with 11th gen parts, or uh, all ryzen parts since 2017 because am4 has always had a 16+4+4 lane config for its pci-e slots
ooh nice so once this feature arrives on PC I'll be able to make use of it with my NVMe SSD since I connected it to the CPU slot
heh so much relying on developers to add these features. SAM/resizeable bar and this directstorage
for example, the divison 2 loads much faster on the xbox series x than on ps5 with their respective next gen updates, loading a full ten seconds faster at only 6.45 seconds
any idea how much of an improvement I could expect to see in a supported title? NVMe SSD I have is the Adata SX8200 Pro 1TB (pcie 3.0)
depends on the game and implimentation really
the divison 2 takes about 20 seconds to load in on the pc verison iirc on roughly any ssd you're using
so, if ubisoft were to support directstorage for it, you might see it load in 6 - 10 seconds like the xbox series consoles
oh damn and that with an SSD that is about half the speed or less that of what's on the consoles?
less time loading, more time gaming can hopefully some day soon become true for NVMe SSD users
yeah it can be over a minute on last gen consoles at times
and your ssd is faster than the one in the series X
it is? I thought it was way slower?
heh glad I didn't buy into any of the pcie 4.0 storages then
the difference is in the way they interact with the storage, as well as the compression they're using, and their hardware decompression stuff
at least not just now
ps5 should beat the XSX for load times in every single comparison, but it doesn't, because directstorage, and a few other things
now this is interesting stuff
by the numbers, the divison 2 should load in in less than half the time series x takes, but it takes 2.5x longer
could be any number of things, but the point is, that kind of stuff is possible with rdna2 on the desktop, and directstorage
if a game would ever support it, same with nvidia gpus, you could do decompression on the gpu pretty easily
so even if I get a 6700 XT, enable SAM and this DirectStorage feature goes live I'd have on my desk a console destroyer. Faster load times, powerhouse of a GPU (infinity cache and SAM!) and a CPU that is a generation ahead
correct
6700XT is about 10% faster than the series X gpu, give or take
costs less too right?
at the 6700XTs max boost clock, at its game clock they're roughly exactly the same
$479 iirc, so about the same as the XSX, but thats a whole machine
still, $479 + what was the 5600X MSRP/luanch price? 299?
yea
this system might only cost me around £1000, say £1100 tops. Sure it is over double what the console costs but it will destroy one without having to shell out 650+ on a GPU to do it. That would be a whole different ball game. I'm coming around more to the 6700 XT even though I really want to try and get the monstrous 6800 XT
infinity cache will give the 6700XT advantages in some cases, but it has less raw bandwidth than the XSX, and XSX has other advantages in that its a single shared memory pool, so some of the same benefits of SAM, but magnified since they're not having to send data over a pci-e bus, but rather both parts of the die can directly access the same memory
either way, its a great choice for 1440p gaming
6800 non XT is also a good choice if you can get one at a sane price
I'd be going right for the 6800 XT if given the chance. Things just aren't in my favour at the moment but hopefully some day they are more favourable
fair
even toying with the idea of finding someone with a 6800 XT local once lockdown is over and trading them my 5700 XT and cash for their 6800 XT. If I pull that off I'd be laughing. Could potentially get a 6800 XT for less than £400!
oh my... these prices for my GPU. Recent completed purchases on Ebay
lol wow @smoky flame 😂
playing through Cyberpunk 2077 on my PC again at 1440p ultra and things seem pretty good. No crashes to report of so far and performance I think may have increased a little, though I am using static CAS at 75% resolution scaling just so the game can remain at a framerate of my liking. No doubt if I had a 6700 XT I'd be playing at much the same sort of framerate without using a lower resolution scaling option and I'd even have Radeon Boost to further improve performance
I quite like Wreckfest. If you are into racing games and car destruction definitely give it a try
I'm sure there will be but I don't think I'd be the right person to ask. I don't really make that much use of the PC game pass
I might try Cyberpunk 2077 again now that patch 1.2 is out
Plus maybe it benefits from BAR support
I tried it on release and max settings with DLSS + RTX was like 45-60 FPS on my RTX 3070
I believe it does benefit though we are only talking some single figure percent benefit. Probably more work to actually get resizeable bar on your 3070 than there is performance gain to be had
a few people on another server are saying I should have secure boot enabled in my BIOS are they right to say that? Have had it disabled since I bought the motherboard and set it up for the first time
@smoky flame I don't think so, resizable BAR in its' principles has nothing to do with Secure Boot, so it would be pretty unhealthy of motherboard manufacturers to tie it to Secure Boot.
this has nothing to do with resizeable bar. Just secure boot
in that case, absolutely no.
it does nothing in case of consumer protection, it's more for businesses/vast networks
and enabling it on consumer platforms is a hell of a pain
Thanks
Amd cant handle cp ray tracing lol
I know and wasn't expecting it to be able to. Ray tracing is heavily taxing. Nvidia hardware has DLSS to assist it otherwise those GPUs wouldn't have done much better either
I mean its also 2nd gen rtx vs amds 1st gen iirc
Yes. There is a large efficiency gain
guys, why am I getting like half the FPS I should get in fortnite? I was monitoring the cpu and gpu usage and the cpu was around 15-25% usage and the GPU was between 55-70%
in cod cold war I get around 90-150fps
make sure vsync isn't enabled or some other dodgy frame capping option. Fortnite is an esports title so there is every chance there is something that boosts FPS when enabled or disabled. I wouldn't know though since I don't play Fortnite
amazing
Dang that's good. For some reason my CPU does most of the work while my gpu chills at like 20-40% watching my CPU burn 😂
Once again have Nvidia caught us by suprise, this time with their RTX 4090 and 4090ti.
Hot specs include:
18.000 Cuda cores
232 RT cores
2.169 MHz boost clock
48Gb GDDR7 VRAM
1 kilowatt

Those numbers there tell me that the GPU is doing most of the work and MAY be holding back the rest of the system. Other factors are at play here such as if components are overheating (and therefore throttling to prevent damage), lack of RAM, etc.
Though don’t go by a single number that a website tells you that your system should produce. Find the same configuration from more than one source, or ones very close to yours and take a guess.
the new xbox app layout is super slick
where do I purchase and install Minecraft Bedrock Edition??
Microsoft Store.
thanks
how's Destiny 2 - been meaning to try it? Is it easy to make friends and do multiplayer there?
Its nice but on xbox one it runs only on 30 fps, which is unplayable, but if u have a series u should be fine
yeah I've got the Series S - and I guess I can play it on PC too?
u want friends? uhhhh destiny community is kinda toxic. but some are nice
oh really? damn that sucks....
Chill with the caps.
There are players on all platforms who act like the one they use is superior. It's not only PC players. No need to bring the accusations to the PC channel.
Tbh I enjoy just chilling on farming simulator listening to the radio. Or if u want to learn some cool stuff and don't mind reading. Play flight sims like falcon BMS. Ain't nothing like a nice sortie
Hello Everybody 👋
Hello muted man
I got a 3900X 32GB of ram and 3080 so its most likely the temps but again, I have the AC on whenever I use my PC and all the fans are always at 100%

temperatures can't be that bad surely
what are the temperatures actually like on your CPU and GPU? Provided your CPU isn't passing 90-95°c (idk what the 3900X temperature limit is) and your GPU isn't exceeding whatever Nvidia set its limit to you should be fine and throttling of both components should be minimal
Cause a console player can never be so good at aiming than a pc player, oh and pc players hate auto aim, thats my from my Opinion and from my Experience
it's all down to the player really. I play with a controller on PC and seem to do pretty well against keyboard and mouse players but that is because I'm way too used to controller. If I was playing someone that was just getting to grips with a keyboard and mouse I would likely wreck them. However, if it was someone with identical skill to what I have on controller but on keyboard and mouse I know I may be in trouble. Though I sure as hell won't back down from trying to compete.
As for that auto aim/aim assist. It's mostly in games for controller players and those that maybe don't have the greatest mobility with their fingers. I think of it like an accessibility option. Something that has it's uses for some. Like Discord's light mode and in game subtitles for example
the reason why is some people have superiority complexes, theyre all computers in different applications, its not a computer error just a human one
minecraft 3000 frame easy
the CPU gets like 70-80c under gaming load, and stays around 40-60c normally and gpu goes 70-80c when gaming, and 30-40c when idle
i dont know if those are good temps for a liquid cooled cpu when idle tho
also, if the AIO pump is plugged into the cpu fan header instead of the aio pump header, does it affect the performance at all?
It’s motherboard and cooler dependent. Doesn’t affect performance, but can alter how the bios reads the cooler and it’s metrics
ok
I always plug them into the cpu fan header because I only use Corsair AIOs and they recommend using said header
So maybe give your instruction manual a glance over just to confirm which one you should use
I dont have a manual, I got my parts in a store and the store built the PC for me but didnt give any stuff that came in the boxes to me, just the boxes, no instruction, no screws and stuff, just the box
the cooler I have is a gamaxx L240v2 if that helps
yes
I'd say those are still reasonable temperatures. Ryzen CPUs are bound to get hot and 12 cores the 3900X it doesn't really surprise me it sits around 70-80C while gaming though in a sense that is kind of high. One cause of that I can think of is you have PBO limits set to motherboard. I know from some experience when I set that up temperatures on my 5600X shot up quite a bit. Rarely goes past 65°c stock but that one setting alone bumped up the temperature a good +15°c or so. My air cooler's fans were much louder which was the giveaway. Kind of scared me so I stopped really fast
GPU temperatures are fine too. Provided you don't have some blower style GPU. Triple fan and even dual fan GPUs should be able to stay around 75°c or lower. Highest temperature I have seen my 5700 XT Red Devil (triple fan and performance BIOS) reach funny enough was 75°c and that is without any changes. Default fan curve is near silent
friendly reminder for all of us PC folks: Userbenchmark is still biased, don't use it
I don't think they will ever change
Friendly reminder that it’s best to look at multiple sources in general, not just one 🙂
so, for doom 3, hl2, morrowind, and kotor, do i get em for pc or og xbox
Pc. Because it’s probably harder to get for the og xbox.
well i do see those normally in one of my 2 local retro game stores
so it's ain't real hard for me to get em for og xbox zero
alright
You guys know why game pass isn’t working for me on my pc? I got game pass ultimate on Xbox
It just says join for 1$
Sure you brought game pass ultimate and not game pass for console by mistake?
game pass ultimate doesnt have game pass for pc i think
On game pass app it says ultimate can’t send pics in here tho lol
interesting feature I found on my G7. Dynamic Contract picture mode with a black screen (no background) seems to turn off the backlight to my monitor. If that isn't OLED level brightness idk what is. Shame it only works in that one condition, anything brighter than the rest of the screen instantly enables the backlighting again and overall brightness goes up too
ok so about these valve games. do i go for the orange box for 20 bucks containing half life 2 and it's expansions, episode 1 and 2, portal, and tf2, or wait for the valve complete pack for 65.70 containing a good majority of the valve games except for half life alyx
one is cheaper, the other offers more games
SW, you really need to start making purchase decisions for yourself. It's your money, so no one here is in a position to tell you how to spend it. You're asking almost daily at this point about things.
Look at the options, read reviews etc, see which appeals to you most in the budget you have.
well, ik i'm having a yard sale tomorrow, so i should be able to have a nice amount of money for the complete pack
ig it will depend on how much i got. if i can get at least 65.70, then the complete pack. if not, perhaps orange box
ok rhinne. i'll get the valve complete pack, if i get the money from the yard / garage sale, of course
tbh the valve titles in there are probs pretty good, like half life, portal, tf2, left 4 dead, and counter strike
how u like em rhinne
They're pretty good games. It's a long time since I've played any of them though.
any of you guys using an xbox wireless headset on win 10 via xbox wireless adapter ?
I have done, yes.
what was your experience like?
i'm running it now, but noticed a few gotchas. ex: windows volume doesn't control the headset, neither does windows mute mic command
basically i'm forced to manage sound/mic from the headset it self
I didn't use the mic, but did notice that the PC volume control didn't alter the headset. But I can understand why, as the dial on the earcup would then be useless.
It would be out of line with the actual volume and you may be unable to turn up higher or lower, depending on where you set the volume on the PC.
yeah i'm basically trying to use the xbox wireless dongle with a headset that i can use for music, conference calls and gaming. the new beoplay portals are solid but controlling the headset within windows has become a challange
also did you have any crackling/popping when running it?
I didn't notice any.
thank you, was helpful. not a lot of information on this
Overall they worked okay, but the volume dial isn't very accurate (although that applies to both console and PC).
Crysis, there's no way i'm getting that for pc rn, considering the high pc requirements. I'd need a real good gaming pc just to be able to run that thing it seems
a headset that can't use Windows Sound volume controls? That sounds like it won't be very loud.
With wired headphones I found the best way to have them set up is to go into the volume mixer and set the device volume to 100, then from there set each application volume to whatever is comfortable, system sounds too. Just be sure if you try this on PC you mute the sound before you start playing a game or watching videos as doing this will require some fiddling about with the application volume to get it just right for the first time. Though there are some games that will reset themselves back to 100 application volume.
This also seems to be pretty useful if your PC happens to have a higher end motherboard that features an amp and DAC. Great for powering more demanding headphones
Working yet? Sometimes it can take a bit. :)
Ye I fixed it
Awesome :)
I have a question
Do I need Xbox Live Gold in order to play games from Xbox Games Pass on PC?
I am also trying to play with other people
Not for PC
Laptop gang
I use my razer kraken with full headset vol and 34volume on windows, works perfectly in all the games and apps
lets gooo
✊
Cc
nice, I have the device volume (headphones) set to 100 and generally application volume is no higher than 6
Headphones I use are Sennheiser HD 600
I have a too many issues in BFH
First no sound
Spinning character (fixed just minimise and go back to game)
Crashing when I reset to checkpoint
Ping me
If u have a fix

Ok so ima try to install half life 1 anthology on my pc. Looks like it’s getting somewhere
What’s this? Steam thing. I’m installing through physical disc
Dang it it was already used
Steam is the biggest PC storefront for games. It’s needed to play the game.
As in valve games
Well since that didn’t work I’ll get it another time through my account ig
Through the steam store this time
Either that or wait for valve complete pack
Whenever I can ig. In the meantime, if some tf2
Ig*
ya know, when they are able to, valve can make some nice stuff
#rules 🔤 2. Use English only. Communicate in English, but be considerate of all languages.
AFAIK Steam stopped verifying disc installations long time ago so yeah F. Although it should be very cheap now.
There are still games that can verify registration from the disc, but it binds it to your account
so you can install it digitally or use the discs to install.
They aren't loose licenses
My PC has been runnin hot here lately
like up to 80C. Which I dont like, Im not sure if its just the games im playing or a change in the weather
Before I could usually keep it below 70C
I plan on getting a heating pad but could this be a warning sign for a potential problem?
Its still fairly new as I havent had it that long
Its a laptop btw.
laptops will run hot. Not a great deal you can really do about that. The space in which components have to try and cool down often isn't enough so the hot air produced by components like the CPU and GPU may end up accumulating within the laptop. One thing you could try is undervolting these components, if you are familiar with undervolting that is. If not I'd just leave it be but essentially undervolting will allow you to drop the power consumption so much and in turn should mean the CPU and GPU run cooler but just like overclocking it takes quite a bit of testing to get it right and make sure everything is stable
every chance of that. What's your laptop's specs again?
GPU GTX 1650, 8 GB ram, CPU is AMD Ryzen 5 4600h series
Could it be because of my low ram?
nah, I think all it comes down to is the laptop. Have you kept it up to date? Drivers, windows etc
another thing to note though. Nvidia GPUs have a known overhead issue. I don't know if it will impact your GTX 1650 at all but I jsut thought I'd make you aware of it anyway. Now this won't impact temperatures, or at least I wouldn't think so but performance may take a hit if certain conditions are met where the overhead issue comes into play and it is pretty bad. Something like an RTX 3090 was being beat by an RX 5600 XT in certain games which considering how much people bought that 3090 for ouch! Pretty sure the only way to pass the overhead issue is to be using a flagship tier CPU - which I guess most, if not every owner of a 3090 should have. Funny thing is this AMD don't appear to be affected by this GPU overhead issue
yeah my GPU runs cool imo. It like never gets to 70C, I can keep my Fan on auto settings with my gpu, for my CPU it ruuns hot
I have to keep my fans on either max or 4000 RPM when gaming '
I don't think there is much that can be done for the CPU tbh. Could try going into the BIOS to see if PBO is enabled. If so, set it to auto. Auto should mean off but never know with some of these motherboard vendors and idk how different laptop CPUs are to their desktop CPU counterparts
yeah I check into it
pretty much all I know about PCs is desktop related. A lot of it might not even apply to laptops or be somewhat more limited on a laptop
alright
My laptop runs hotter than yours but mines is kind of thin. Like 85 on the CPU and 80 on the GPU. I turned off turbo boost, people I asked said that's kinda hot but they are rated for those temps and it's a laptop so that's just kinda how it is
I'm not really worried about it. I figure it'll last maybe 4 years and when it breaks down I'll just buy an updated one
Oi
at those sorts of temperatures both the CPU and GPU may begin to show signs of throttling behaviour so while it is still within spec it definitely isn't ideal as the throttling will result in some loss in performance. Similar to what I told Martin earlier, you could try undervolting the both the CPU and GPU to see if that reduces those temperatures any. Though if you are unsure of undervolting then just leave it. GPU undervolting is pretty straight forward but I've never tried undervolting a CPU, unless you count PBO2 with Curve Optimizer on my Ryzen 5 5600X but even that is still different to the more traditional method of undervolting and both PBO2 and curve optimizer are exclusive to Ryzen 5000, aka Zen 3 CPUs
Aw crap I can't remember if I have a Nvidia account or not
Also I just realized I need to update some drivers for my gpu, maybe that'll help
I doubt it. Most of the time driver updates just bring support for new games and some fixes for issues
Oh
still good to keep up to date on them though
👍
everything on my PC is as up to date as I believe it can be. Except for any beta updates that is. I can wait on those beta updates going live
Also, when I look at my gpu status, it says I'm running a program I'm not running. It's like my PC is running crap in the background I don't need running. It's weird
Evil paint 3D lol
On the contrary my GPU is definitely is overclocking itself (by default GPU settings somehow) which is why it's reaching 80C on MAX load in games. Keep in mind I've got a newer CPU and GPU. Actually, my CPU is rated at 100 C and it WAS reaching this, no matter how I changed the cooling settings, which is why I was alarmed and turned off turbo boost. I asked the manufacturer and they told me this was intended (to reach 100C). My manufacturer has locked my CPU and GPU so I cannot do any manual management of the thermals. They've also locked CPU undervolting and overvolting. So the only thing I can do is disable turbo boost. The whole thing manages the power automatically otherwise. I asked my techie friend and he told me it should be fine, just don't let the temps get too much higher. I live in a very hot area.
Oh that sounds ruff. Laptop or Desktop?
I've never heard of a cpu getting to 100C and staying alive. My PC shuts down at 98C
my 5600X can top out at 95C. Pretty sure that limit can be increased but I'd never touch it and fortunately I'm some way off reaching those sorts of temperatures. Highest it tends to get while gaming is around 65C and that is on air cooling. Not an AIO cooler or custom water loop in sight
@full flint I just ran a benchmark. It's a cool day today and I have my laptop on a cooling pad since a few months ago. CPU and GPU topped out at about 79 C each, which is pretty good average is about 71 C each, so it's running better today. Graphics settings on adaptive.
From what I understand laptops are going to run hotter than desktops on average
Doing some googling these temps seem to be within acceptable range
Yeah, mine is decent about Cooling, i figured out the rise in temperatures were from the games I was playing, On certain games I can keep mine on around 70C and below, itll even average around 65C like Sub-zeros for my CPU, my GPU runs really cool actually, stays under 70C Always. LIke I dont even think ive ever gotten it over that yet. My CPU is the one that heats up. I think I will do what u did and eventually buy a cooling pad.
One some games tho, my CPU will go over 70C for a time, like even reach up to 89C, then go down real quick its really weird tbh,, bc itll stay at that temp for a few seconds then cool down
hey
Looking for a pc to play new halo. my budget is 800 to 900
with that budget I'd suggest trying to get a Series X. 800-900 might not cut it for the new Halo. If going for a desktop PC with the state things are currently in be prepared to pay 1500+ for a system that should be more than prepared for Halo Infinite
Thank you. It's even hard to get series x these days too.
yeah, situation sucks 😦 Sorry I can't suggest you a system for your budget
it's okay thank you for reply probably need save up more.
at a stretch look at how much desktops with a 6700 XT and Ryzen 5 3600 or 5600X are. They might be a little less than the figure I stated above and that too should at least be ready for the new Halo game, whenever it launches
Yeah that's the turbo boost. Your core will go over like 4 ghz for a short period, yours goes up to 89C I guess, mine will go up to 100. They are built to do that I guess so it should be normal and it's enabled by default
That being said I don't recommend undervolting your CPU like some people do as that will void your warranty
I don't know anything about under or overvolting. I've heard of overclocking who i figured that's just making ur CPU go faster then it goes by default
Uh lmao no it does not
My CPU is clocked for 3ghz, so that probably why I see rise in temp for that turbo boost
Also 89 is not normal even after turbo
Wdym?
I don't have liquid cooling or anything.
Mine stays under 75C usually but it depends on the game
I think my CPU isn't good for gaming, I'm definitely glad I got the 3ghz over the 2.1
But like I said, I'll get spiikes in temperature
When I look on nitrosense (my app for cpu/gpu temps and fan settings) it'll go from 70 some, spike to 89 then go back down
As long as it doesn't get to 98 I should be fine I think
98 is when my PC shuts down
Nitrosense sounds like some open source meh tracker
I have an Acer Nitro 5 Laptop. It's the default software that comes with the PC
It's basically the same as Predator sense only for Acer. Made by the same company tho. It works.
And Predator Sense might have more stuff on it considering u pay more for predator
Ah laptop thatz why u spike up. Yur cooling curve needs to be changed to ramp up more or keep your vents clearer
Well it does that on max fans as well. And I always keep it on a flat surface during gaming
I try to keep it on 4k rpm. The GPU fan I just keep on auto bc my gpu never gets hot
Gpu is literally on the board with yur cpu and the gpu fan is the main source of cooling in a laptop
I have 2 dedicated fans for both
GPU fan only cools gpu I believe,
This is my cooling design
hey gamers i need some help
Okay let's start off by saying I do not have Bluetooth drivers on my PC. Basically I recently bought an Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller and I'd like to use it wirelessly on my PC. I thought maybe it was possible using the charging stand that comes with the controller in the bag. But I'm not sure how to enable it or anything like that. Is it possible?
The only way I personally know of to use a controller on pc without bluetooth is by a regular USB-MicroUSB cord. Like a phone charger
That's what I use
... i want to use it wirelessly
I don't think that's possible
ive been using with the cord it came with
i think thats kinda stupid. it comes with a charging stand and doesnt even work wirelessly. that should've been a feature.
Nvm disregard what I said. As my name implies I'm not the smartest lol. Here's an article that might help.
There's an Xbox wireless controller adapter which will allow you to connect your xbox controller to PC without bluetooth

Nice Playstation Vita
thanks. currently fighting the store
getting world tiers up in Outriders after reaching level 30 sure takes some time. Managed to jump two world tiers tonight, from WT6 to WT8 but I feel I'm so far off WT15. Which is my end game end goal
I wish I had that many drives
are the play anywhere games like games that i have purchased on the xbox store where i can then play xbox or pc as long as its compatible? or can someone clarify what it is cause i dont understand
Yes, Play Anywhere means you can play them on Xbox or PC - as long as you bought it digitally.
thanks
Outriders with gamepass is available for pc as well or not?
imma see for you
no
it's not even on the MS Store (at least for me in poland)
Thanks 🙂
Dang outriders is not free on PC? Oh well
Has anyone been able to get the Windows 10 xCloud/GameStreaming client to work? I know it hasn't been released and isn't publicly supported by Microsoft yet, but wondering if someone here might have figured it out. I really just want the GameStreaming, but the client won't connect to my Xbox (although it does recognize it on the network). All the settings on the Xbox (to enable game streaming) are turned on and the Xbox passes the "Remote Play" test.
There is no official public release, and no support will be given on unreleased products.
IIRC Console Streaming was in the old Xbox Companion
It is
because if Jonny still has a XO and not a X Series, he should be fine with that one
Is gta v premium edition a full version of gta v story mode than regular? I don't think gta v regular is lite version
Because i have gta v downloaded from epic games
@frank sun The only difference between the Premium edition and normal GTA V editions is the amount of bonuses you get in GTA Online.
Oh ok maybe i rather choose pc instead of xbox or playstation because of my aiming is really sucks for me in console in prologue
My problem is I'm not good at shooting and aiming in consoles but I'm good at evading when being chased by AI while driving without shooting just like need for speed
I understand. Thank you @thorny cypress.
@full flint I do have the Series X. I'm not encouraging anyone to try unreleased software. And it's a little bit of work to pull the application bundle out of the Microsoft Store instance for Spain.
But I did finally get it working. It looks like there is still a LOT of debug code in the application and it doesn't seem to run at as high a quality level as the old Xbox Companion app had with the Xbox One X
If anyone has a problem similar to mine, I had to actually turn on my Xbox for the first run of the app (even though I had instant on configured properly in settings) . after that it opens up just fine.
Um so I need help my microsoft store will not open leading me not being able to open my xbox apps any help?

I wanna play Xbox on my gaming pc so is their a way I can play it WITHOUT streaming?
play xbox games for PC using the xbox app or play-anywhere titles.
Capture card
Take-Two are still getting a feel for game pass. So we’ll see
how do u download games on the microsoft store on pc
Is humble bundle worth it to build up a steam library although most of the games in the bundle i wont really play
not really if you aren't going to play them as at that point it's just wasting money
The problem is i am kinda jealous of my friends steam library of over 200 games
I mean if you're goal is to simply just build up your library size then it's a decent way of doing it
I already planned the games i am going to preorder for the year which is ending up being under my games budget for the year
I guess if you have the disposable income for it you can go for it but honestly I don't really see the appeal in having a big library. I have over 500 games in my steam library as I used to just get the bundles to increase the number but looking back now I feel like a lot of it was just wasted money
So preorders is $512 out of $1000 yearly games budget
What have you planned to get then so far which totals $500?
Nier replicant , scarlet nexus , biomutant , re village and dying light 2
So around $80-$124 aud each for the games
Decent set of games there to be fair
Why’d Xbox message me that gta 5 back on game pass for pc but the tweet said only console 😢
someone know how to download games on a specific disc in gamepass pc? the games are downloading on the windows disc
should let choose where it go to when first install game
With the Xbox app you can definitely select the install location
only if you don't have enough space on the system drive
it happens with all games, the 100+GB ones too
I had to artificially waste space on my system drive to be able to install Forza Horizon 4 on a drive other than the system one
Worked fine for me last time I checked
Watch as I make 190$ disappear
Hope you like the G502. It’s my personal favorite. I’m not a fan of MMO button mouse.
nice, another G502 user :)
I have the G502 wireless, best mouse ive ever used and id buy 5 more if it breaks
Oh. I might upgrade to wireless. My new setup is snagging the cable.
i like some buttons but not second keyboard on mouse
just like back/forward and a dpi button
Any recommendations for a flight stick? Not to expensive hopefully
got the stuff setup, its a membrane keyboard and a bulky mouse which is what i like
Anyone here used PDANet?
bro g502 is pretty pog
Thurstmaster HOTAS X.
if only I was far more used to gaming on keyboard and mouse. I imagine the G502 is really good for FPS games? Plenty of buttons to remap some keys to and gain an advantage. I really should take up learning how to game on keyboard and mouse. Have tried it a couple of times but I find my muscle memory is always opting for a controller
also, anyone know what that g-shift option does in Logitech G Hub? I searched around some and didn't really find much in the way of answers
Allows you to access a second set of hot keys when the button assigned as g shift is held down
It’s the same thing as hypershift if you ever owned a razor mouse
interesting
Don’t know if they fixed the software. But have a spare mouse ready. There’s a bug in the software when you toggle g-shift to view, it toggles your mouse to g-shift. So if you remap or didn’t map primary click in g-shift, you’re stuck.
oh no. Luckily I probably won't use it. The buttons on the mouse as it is should be plenty, if I ever get to gaming on it properly but what I don't like at times is how many sensitivity settings some games have for the mouse. Makes it so complicated to get the sensitivity just right and not every game is the same making it even more awkward
I use hypershift to have wheel click + various buttons be the arrow keys so I can call in ordinance in h4 on the fly, since you can’t rebind ordinance currently
I have left and right g-shift to change my window to the next monitor. Left sends it left, right sends right.
even DPI I've had to change a bit from what I used to use. Used to play on a 1080p screen before upgrading to 1440p last July. Not sure how much I should have read into it but the higher resolution the more DPI may be required and as a result I have 3 options. 800 DPI - acts like a sniper mode, there's a button I can access with my thumb that changes to this setting. 1200 DPI is what I regularly use and I also use 2000 DPI for browsing the web
if I master this mouse I'd be a monster in just about any FPS game
I use 800 for everything
im liking both of them so far
its like they were kinda made to be together, not sure if they were
they just match well
i used g502 a bit for siege and stuff and it was pretty good
personally i prefer razer naga hex v2 because its got more buttons and its more comfortable for me
and im a bit of a razer fanboy
I see Days Gone has a release date, May 18th. Showed up in amongst the Steam news popup when I logged onto Steam
does anyone know how to fix the teredo qualify issue for pc?
oh nevermind i got a solution
what switches do they have?
this one is just membrane

3D Pro is nice, im trying to get the VKB Gladiator NXT
I’ve fallen in love with AI overclocking
It’s surprisingly accurate for finding the best overclock while maintaining 100% stability
I’ve squeezed everything I can out of this 8700k over the years and found pretty much all the stability and performance combos, and i was playing around with the AI overclocking today and it’s like... right underneath where I can get things manually
After running it through various games the past week, it’s settled on 4.8 all core, which is where I usually ran it to avoid crashing in select few games
I thought that AI OC feature was exclusive to Intel's 11th gen?
Nah it’s been there for a few generations now

Anyone know how to fix this recording problem for PC?

y'all have some really cool setups lmao
my setup is just my xbox on x and a tv ._.
its boring sometimes I wanna spice it up with some leds
possibly not for long
as it's a side effect of a Rockstar error
Rockstar has accidentally delisted all of their games (RDR2/Online and GTA V included) and now they're relisting them
Better buy it now then
Yep.
Just got delisted
Told you.
I want to get a pc but is there one like the nzxt streamer build but for the same price or below
thats normal
Does Windows have a in software video record for games?
thanks 🙂
Channels been dead for over 2hrs
So spark up some conversation.
RTX Minecraft is a demanding game
Who would’ve thought that the pc gaming channel wouldn’t be popular in the xbox discord
You know
The discord centered around a console
Lol
If you mean 'stand', you can if you want. This is also the PC channel.
Shocking innit
Okay so i have a question
If you purchase games on digital then buy a pc the games you bought will be able to download
Xbox games?
If that's what you mean, then some can be downloaded on PC, but not all. Only Play Anywhere titles give you a license on both console and PC. Anything else would need to be repurchased.
Oh dang
Where does it say play anywhere?
Nvm
hello... i have a xbox controller Adapter.... when it its plugged , each time the PC starts my keyboard and mouse will be frozen for like 1-2 sec at the login screen... then i hear a "usb connect" sound... then everything works.... if the adapter is not plugged... everything works normally.... i tried several USB slots... all the same... (build: asus b550-e , 3700x, 2x16gb at 3600Mhz)
Does anyone here play Unravel 2 or It Takes Two?
Getting a threadripper for gaming cuz why not
Looking to be an interesting rest of 2021
Alder lake should be out before infinite, and that’s all I really care about.
Should be released in q4 and life will be good
Zen4 should be released in the same timeframe too
news to me
last i heard AMD was still on track for this year
considering that their announcement for it was the same time that Zen3 and RDNA2 was announced for release
AMD's showing no signs of slowing

I have 9 paid games and 1 f2p games so far on steam and i am in my second month of being a pc gamer
I'd recommend installing Epic Games Store as well, a free game each week 🙂
I have It Takes Two. Haven't started it yet.
Hello my gaming people
Glad to see, Second extinction and Destroy all humans coming on the 28th
Do you have to install EA play to play EA games on pc game pass?
Have to install ea desktop
mmmmmmmmm
my pc's fan is so loud when i play games, is there a way to make it slower?
Yes, but the fans get faster because things get hot
If you slow them down, the pc will not cool itself as much
So you’re gonna want to research what’s going on, and possibly getting quieter fans
hello
guys I need help regarding my PC
like in every single game im getting the fps im supposed to other than fortnite in which I get 100fps
in cod black ops, I get around 150-90fps all max settings (RT off DLSS to ultra performance) and in ac valhalla and rdr2 I get around 80-90fps with some frame drops below 30
in control (full RT on DLSS quality) I get around 70fps
somewhere in the 50-70fps range
im on a 1440p 144hz monitor and I dont think anything is being a bottleneck
cuz 3900x, 32GB 3200mhz ram, 3080, temps around 70-80 during full gaming
I dont think the motherboard and power supply can be of any problem but just in case, I havea B550-F asus motherboard, and a corsair 750w 80+bronze psu
there shouldn't be any bottlenecking at play or even the dreaded Nvidia overhead issue. Pretty sure that requires you play at medium settings for it to show. 3900X I'm sure would be considered a flagship CPU so the whole overhead issue might not present itself anyway. Strange one this
you don't happen to be using anything like Nvidia's DSR or in game resolution scaling past 100% do you? That is the only other thing I could think of for reduced performance or rather performance that doesn't meet your expectations. Scaling up to 4K (or 5K) along with a handful of options, most notable one being ray tracing carry a hefty loss to performance
also, I used to get 70-80fps with full ray-tracing on fortnite but now I get 30
drivers fully up to date?
check windows update history if you have KB5001330 installed
yes
oh come on. I keep my system up to date and Windows can release performance killing updates? I know this isn't new but surely these things are widely tested before they go out to public
I deleted it, havent tested in-game performance
it seems the major performance issues reported only affect gamers that use vsync. So I guess I don't have to worry about it since I don't use vsync and tbh anyone with a Freesync or G sync monitor should be able to disable vsync - just be prepared to hear some coil whine in some game's loading screens since with vsync disabled the game is no longer tied to the refresh rate of your monitor. Otherwise the game should be tear free, at least until you exceed your monitor's refresh rate to which Freesync and G sync will disable and reintroduce tearing
an alternative to vsync if you don't want to put up with coil whine when disabling vsync would be to cap frame rate below the refresh rate of your monitor by 2 or 3 FPS. This would ensure the game isn't accidentally hitting the refresh rate ceiling causing Freesync or Gsync to to disable
My laptop is rtx 2060 6gb intel core i7 10th generation 16 gb ram ssd m.2 916gb and 144 hz display
Its good ?
Lets go play minecraft ray tracing
Guys what’s a good priced graphics card in today’s market
I don't really think there is any. Most of them have either really low stock or price has been inflated due to the shortage
Death stranding on PC, any good? Seemed like lots of people were critical of it
