I have to be careful as my motherboard is not like a conventional one. It has no release button. You just PULL the GPU out.

I'll be using the 3x 8 pin to 12vhpwr adapter provided in the box with the GPU as I don't have a power supply that natively supports 12vhpwr to 12vhpwr and I wasn't going to go out of my way to buy a power supply that did support that having only had this one that I currently use for over 2 years. Its not even seen a quarter of its warranty length yet (12 years)

in that time the 5080 really will be tested. Something I looked up before heading off to bed earlier was the dimensions between the two GPUs aren't that far apart. A few differences and the 5080 uses a little more power but nothing crazy

played Stalker 2 at 4K maxed settings with DLSS on performance mode and frame gen enabled was getting something like 170 FPS. Definitely felt a bit smoother than the same settings but with FSR equivalent settings and the cool part? GPU didn't pass 55c for the time I was on it. My fan curve + this 5080 are a wicked combo 😮

made an interesting discovery with my 5080 while playing STALKER 2. Doesn't seem to want to use the max TDP. 360W is the stock 5080 TDP meanwhile playing STALKER 2 at 4K maxed settings and DLAA it was only running at about 250-260W. Not complaining as such as I've had to do nothing here to lower power despite being on the highest settings possible that I would have thought made the 5080 use full power but I sure am surprised at that. My 7900 XTX was running at its max stock TDP (346W) by comparison when running on almost the same settings (FSR 3.1 Native AA being the only difference here)

I was thinking the settings I game at would have pretty much had the 5080 running at or very close to 360W, not some 100W or so less. Now I'm even morre curious as to how much power your 5090 would use if it too follows the same power draw thingy. You shouldn't reach the max TDP (575W on the 5090?) and with you having a 1440p monitor there is a good chance it may only use something like 400W - which is still a lot but on the other hand some way off max TDP clearly

hmm, I don't think Stalker 2's DLSS frame generation works properly. Enabled it with DLAA and without frame gen I was getting around 48-55 FPS while exploring but with frame gen enabled thats only boosting up to the 80's in FPS. Would have expected to see closer to 100 FPS report on the higher side and there is no MFG options without overriding in the Nvidia app

a computer the equivalent to a PS5? That would be AMD's Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000 series) and RDNA 2 (Radeon RX 6000 series). On the CPU end you'd either want a Ryzen 5 3600 (6 cores) or Ryzen 7 3700X (8 cores) and on the GPU side it would be roughly equivalent to a Radeon RX 6700 XT. Some specs are a bit off like the PS5 having a 256 bit memory bus vs the 192 bit bus on the 6700 XT. Next step up on that would be the RX 6800 that does have a 256 bit bus but pulls ahead of the PS5 specs and would be more comparable to a Series X

most of the time there is very little difference between high and ultra settings in games but saying that I'm still in a habit of set and forget with graphics settings. When there is technology like upscaling and frame generation available these days it makes it easier to just do that and jump right into a game rather than faff around with settings too much

I'm only making use of features available to my GPU. Was doing similar, albeit it wasn't worth enabling the likes of RT when I used my 7900 XTX. PT was out of the question entirely. As for 225 FPS that's just the FPS it caps to when g-sync, vsync (driver level) and Nvidia Reflex all come together with multi frame generation (the latter enables Reflex)

doesn't seem to work quite as well with games that use the Vulkan API though

DOOM: The Dark Ages at 4K maxed settings (including path tracing) with DLSS set to ultra performance mode (720p rendered on a 4K display), Frame Generation set to 4x and Nvidia Reflex set to Boost. Had hoped a small tweak I made may have had the FPS run a bit lower so that it behaved like g-sync + vsync (driver) but still nope 🙁 I at least got it to match my monitor's refresh rate but in doing so where it can hit 240 FPS g-sync may disengage and reintroduce some screen tearing. Why must the Vulkan API be so awkward?

Preview isn't beta as such but more like early access to updates and features. iirc 25H2 may be available now on Preview? doesn't require being an insider either. Just enable this option and I believe you get preview updates

just had a look over the 25.9.1 driver release notes and this change is a pretty big deal. This pretty much means for those on RX 9000 series GPUs any game that runs on DirectX 12 that supports FSR 3.1+ can now enable FSR 4. That list of supported games just got a huge boost!

strange thing is I've been told its often the other way around, that AMD have issues and Intel are more stable (despite performing worse). Sometimes idk what to really believe. That information is coming from what I'd call a trusted source too. Person I know builds PCs and has done a few for some EU based esports teams (though he declined to tell me who so must be pretty big)

over the years this guy I know has run into more issues on the AMD platform (both AM4 and AM5) than on recent Intel platforms. Makes me feel kind of lucky or something in a sense when I've not yet encountered any issues with my 9800X3D or even the 7950X3D I had before that

Intel really need to add more games to the APO feature they have. Some games with APO have seen something like a 14% increase in performance when supported but the list of supported games still seems very small and Intel could really do with any improvements they can get off the back of the 13/14th gen mess that happened. yeah, between Unreal Engine 5 and baked in ray tracing that haas no option to be turned off becoming more common in games I don't think things are going to change much. This appears to be the new norm. Either Unreal Engine 5 as a game engine would have to go through some rather radical improvements on the ray tracing side or hardware itself will have to improve drastically on the ray tracing end for performance hits to be less severe

Outside of those that want to maximize platform use for maybe a bit longer and go from an older CPU to Zen 3 or X3D that would be the only use I see of it now otherwise those already on Zen 3 or X3D will be metwith a brick wall telling them the only way to go is AM5 from there after

although i do agree AM4 is at a dead end and shouldnt be the main go to when building a new pc i don't think its a bad thing to release new CPUs for AM4. I think its beneficial to add highly affordable and functional CPUs to the market so instable markets like Latam, where even midrange parts are expensive. I think its to establish a dominance in those regions because intels dictionary doesnt have "Affordable" in there

It is very likely your issue was caused by another issue that did get fixed.

oo, I believe I had a similar issue once. Downloading games from the xbox app can be incredibly buggy sometimes, sadly. I believe what fixed it for me is a mix of logging in/out of my microsoft account, restarting pc and router.
