i am so confused
somewhat technical stuff. Sorry 😅
Subzero dont widescreen resolution tax the gpu more than standard 16:9 ratio
wth is gpu tax
I dont own a widescreen monitor
I would disagree. 16GB is getting closer to a minimum for gaming while 32GB is recommended
yeah, the higher resolution on the ultrawide side will mean performance takes a further hit as higher resolution = more pixels to render etc. Should be somewhere between 1080p and 1440p in terms of performance I would think
w u h
Basically ur pc can get 60fps in most games at 1080p widescreen
is that good
game support for ultrawide can also be somewhat iffy so if you notice black borders around whatever screen it is you use to play games on then it may be that game doesn't support ultrawide aspect ratios such as 21:9 or 32:9
Most games that arent on the modern side rarely have widescreen support
what's an aspect ratio?
not to sound rude or that but we aren't Google. Some of this can be searched up online
sorry
Xbox console dont even support wide screen either
Also if u trying to get into pc gaming do more research on ur pc and pc gaming in general.
there is a lot to take in and understand but having that understanding of your hardware is a good thing
It could probably run cyberpunk natively at a decent enough framerate without ray tracing natively
I didnt get into pc gaming til 2022. I did my research and built my first pc in late 2022/2023
same but in 2016. Learned a lot in a short time and since then I love digging into far more technical hardware stuff 😄
Some stuff on yt will help u understand it better
Personally linus does the most hilarious content
yeah, there are plenty of resources out there in which to learn more about PC hardware and what it can and cannot do but I do feel kind of bad now for the way in which I said what I did but people really do need to research stuff for themselves rather than have every question they want answered handed to them on a plate, you know?
Totally agree its not like a few decades ago where internet was not a thing back then lol. I cant imagine getting into pc gaming back then lol
512 mb gpu lol
oh hell no! I'm not sure I would have got into PC gaming so much back then. Don't think there has been a better time to get into PC gaming than the past decade. There has been challenges and obstacles along the way though
Biggest obstacle is my insatiable need for more power 😬
Ide cables ....serial cables.....
though its worth noting linus is an entertainment channel and isnt exactly a good source for accurate information
his ltt psu testing stuff is alright but its not him doing it
It is done. I put the plates back on
What u gonna play first cyberpunk?
this is the most sketchy ram install ever.
mean ssd install
like there isnt even a proper mount within the laptop to install this stick
but we did it
hay agen how does cloud gaming work?
stream game from a data center of series x consoles to ur device. can have upto 1080p60
why cant i use my tool bar
im in flight sim 2024 im suposed to pen tool bar
im still have no clue what u r talking about
is that something in that game specifically?
idk im new to xbox
il share my screen but its late so no mike
nvm i dont have perm
please explain tool bar
i have to go to the camra seting in toolbar
so its something about streaming ur game right?
yk whats so underappreciated the hcpatcha accessibility thing
its very useful for people like me who struggle with things like that
?
esp when it starts getting more complex now and starts asking for solving entire puzzles
basically it where u set a cookie in ur browser and u dont have to do any captchas for most websites after that, u have to verify ur email, and phone number etc to do it
so its not something that can be easily abused lol
ok cool
yeah its great
and sometimes it prompts every few days to set a new cookie
love hcaptcha
Is anyone gonna play grounded 2!? Tm?
Spider-Man 2
Now it’s time for the real challenge: turning the pc into a console
No pin, steam big picture mode, controller on to wake
Welp
looking for chill dude to game feel free to text me
If you're looking for someone to play with, please go to #1094715375884697600
dm if you want pc game pass
..or you can jus drop the code in #xbox-game-pass
we get a ton of those pc gamepass trial codes already
I will
But I don’t have it downloaded
Hiii okay!
Oh it’s ok!
Didn’t Grounded 2 come out today??
Ok
Yeaa
Oh nice
That is a sick PC
think I found my next SSD upgrade (not that I need one)
which ssd
WD SN8100. Gen 5
don't know whether to go for 2TB or 4TB. Latter would be doubling my existing capacity but comes at a great cost while 2TB is what I have now much cheaper and faster than an SN850X. Was waiting for gen 5 M.2 NVMe SSDs to reach closer to their peak speed for that spec before looking at them and this is pretty close iirc
I like having 4TB
yeah, 4TB would be my ideal choice but between the 2TB and 4TB models I'm not seeing a great deal of difference other than the obvious cost, capacity and endurance (TBW) so my mind somewhat swaying towards the 2TB option even though I feel I really should look at 4TB this time
This is an English only server. And this looks like a self promo, which is also not allowed.
Usually the advertised max speed is from the biggest capacity
both 2TB and 4TB show the same stuff though. 1TB seems to be the slower of the three available capacities. Pretty sure that trend is common with these SSDs, might even have been the case with the SN850X too
I got a 4TB QVO SATA SSD before the prices went sky high. Got it for like £100 like new with 0 hours on it. Now it's £200+ 😭 glad I did get it though. I can fit so many games 🎮
Thinking of selling my old PC and using the NVMe and RAM for my intel system. Idk yet though
The sound of using 64GB RAM is good lol
I have no use for 64GB but moar is better, right?
I don't remember buying 6 be quiet fans but I have 4 in my QL300 and 2 in my montech case. I swear I only remember buying 4 years back. They're so expensive now.
Just double check and make sure it doesn’t say “Up to”
But anyway, if you get 2TB you can always check
I went with Samsung myself
full specs of the SN8100
Now that's a nice SSD 😁😃
yeah, aren't all SSDs like that though with actual performance varying on the load thrown at it?
Yep
How much is the 4TB?
No I’m talking benchmarks - the smaller capacity ones don’t hit that full speed
found the 4TB model for nearly £400 which would be the most I'd want to spend on any 4TB SSD (going by the £100 per TB limit I set myself) Only gen 5 afaik exceeds this as both gen 3 and gen 4 SSDs can come in well under £100 per TB
only two things I'd be concerned about is whether or not the SN8100 would require active cooling and related to that the temperatures that SSD will reach under certain loads
AMD announced that it is now world's fastest in nearly all CPU form-factors. The company took Gold and Silver places in the latest Top500 supercomputers list, driven by a combination of 4th Gen EPYC "Genoa" CPUs and Instinct MI300A AI GPUs. It also has the world's most powerful AI PC processor with ...
who wanna a dance party
can it run crysis? (720p?)

Found out DOOM: The Dark Ages does have a benchmark feature. Well hidden at the bottom of the extras menu. Going to run a few benchmarks at 1440p maxed settings with no upscaling or frame generation active to see what sort of FPS I get
slightly annoyed that I can't alt tab between windows with this game or that would have been posted quicker
I'm not the only one wondering where the drivers are! https://youtu.be/ZNnzZ7NUCvQ?si=xNvbwUWhHFY_-G1H
Could be the team are on a break
doesnt say what hardware it uses though so almost irrelevant really imo
bunch of gen 4 drives that list theoretical maximum just because their hardware is technically gen 4 compliant but they dont even saturate gen 3 speeds
n48r drives do this a lot
checked TH review. 4TB uses SM2508 & BiCS8 so pretty good.
dunno about the others but assume the same

guys im looking for a controller to buy for pc games , preferably a xbox type as playstation ones do work on all games, any recommendations i play a mix of games but mostly fps , also no price limit ?
Ps controllers dont have haptics or dualsense in all games and only wired. They arent supported in a huge amoubt of games. The controller all depends on ur needs like if u need back pedals etc...
alr also i play alot of elden ring and dark souls and theres no option for playstation sighns so ig an xbox would be better in general , also i prefer one with 4 paddles
It would be werid using a ps controller with screen having xbox button prompts. I know elite 2 stealth ultra has back paddles. I dont own controllers with back paddles sorry
Best to do ur research before buying q controller that fits ur needs
alr ty
yo i found something that looks great its the SCUF Envision With Anti-Drift controller , it has buttons for pc at the bottom 4 back paddles and has hall effect meaning it wont get drift also has custmosible triggers so it can be mouse click for fps games and normal triggers for like racing games , this is exacly something i was looking for so it looks very good to me
anyone have opinons on this controller ?
For anti drift recommend hall effect controllers
yep this has hall effect
I’ll give it a go on Saturday when I next have time
New PC on the way! 😄 9800x3d and a 5090, figured I might as well go all out
New OLED monitor too (ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM)
QD-OLED 4K ?
You’ll have to join in on the benchmarks now 😄
Yes!
Been eyeing it for a while but no way my 3080ti was gonna be enough for the FPS I want at 4K
Yeah currently have the 27inch 240hz IPS one and very happy with it, but its ''only'' 1440p
Ill see how the new PC runs my games at 4K but should honestly be fine
Not selling my 1440p anyway
It’ll be gangster don’t worry
Whens the beta?
Also specs dont look bad tbh. Though i worry of the at launch thing for storage
it will be put on the hard drive
like every other game
Imagine if bf comes to the size of cod 300 gigs lol
you know whats funny
battlefield had the same system the cod hub had
where battlefield 3 and up excluding 2042 had its own hub
but it didnt need 300 gigs
either way if a battlefield game ever got to 300 gigs id never touch it
I dont understand this constant outrage about game sizes tbh
Just.. uninstall a game or 2 if you really cant fit it? Doesnt seem like a huge deal to me
uninstall 2 games i like for a game i may or may not like
Game devs just need to use winrar and compress their files smh my head
stckr compression hard
game dev hard
Zip all your JPGs, save those bits
BF6 looks boring icl
COD with destructive buildings, looked wack
some of us respect our space. and not support lazy devs
Large game sizes != lazy devs
what some players dont realize is that with how devs make a massive scope of the game like big textures, ray tracing etc it needs larger game sizes
especially with ue5 or other engines
Yep, and you can only compress things so much. For downloads, sure. For installation? Not so much, as it will ultimately start affecting performance if you need to keep decmpressing on the fly to read data
like needing a ssd not a hdd nowadays
I remember on Cold War you couldn’t even have that and warzone installed at the same time on series s. Not quite as bad now at least lol
there was hype about a new file compression for games that could help to bring down file sizes etc but either that feature has magically disappeared or we are yet to see it in use idk what of the two it is but showing off new tech only to either not fully implement it or forget about it entirely is frustrating
I know some first party games on PS5 made use of it like Spider-Man remastered was a smaller size than on PS4
it looks just like battlefield 4
we might be back
You didn’t show the video settings ?
That’s always part of the benchmark 😄
ultra nightmare no ray tracing
Going to do one in the morning
2morrow
Intel XeSS2 support expands to AMD and NVIDIA featuring Shader Model 6.4 support Technically, it’s up to game developers now. anyone going to be playing Hell is Us? Watched a trailer of it and even though it seems to be a horror game I'm tempted to get it
nah. only horror i play is alan wake, resident evil and dead space
its more of a soulslike
but probably not because it looks nice but im sure if it wasnt on ue5 then it wouldnt need a 4090 to run at 4k
I found coil whine that sounds cool. XFX Speedster Merc 319 + Stable Diffusion load
anyone able to help me? on my xbox 1 microsoft account i had my forza 4 account with all my cars and all that but i dont play on it anymore. i bought it on steam, logged in with the same email connected to the microsoft account that was used on xbox 1 forza 4 and my data didnt load over. naturally i looked it up and found i needed to download it on the xbox app. i logged into that and when i go to forza 4 it says i need to a choose a bundle but all of the bundles are unavailable. I bought premium forza 4/5 yearsss ago and now i cant play forza 4?
i think cdkeys still sell keys for xbox/pc for horizon 4 ultimate edition
cdkeys my beloved
Not sure if this is the right channel but does anyone have a good 1.21.8 fabric horror mod? A friend and I can’t find any that would work
Thats broad. Would be better if u could state the game lol
For minecraft sorry lol
Sorry dont play minecraft at all. Wouldn't know the first thing about modding minecraft
Ah it’s fine
U should go see in the discord of Minecraft, this is Xbox non Minecraft
I have attached the Minecraft sign to my name, if u want click it and go see it
@desert spindle

Hello
Figured i could ask here bc of PC gamepass, srry
Don’t worry u can ask here, I’m not a moderator I only say that if u wanna more responses u could go to the Minecraft ds

Battlefield to feature all major upscaling technologies at launch, frame generation from Intel confirmed Intel says it has established a partnership with EA to integrate XeSS 2 into Battlefield at launch. As the name implies, XeSS 2 is not just an upscaling technology but also includes low latency and frame generation features. Intel has confirm...
1,000 fps lets go with DLSS 😄
I like using AMD Fluid Motion Frames to bypass hard frame caps
AFMF 2.1 seems to work pretty well
only awkward thing is that just like any driver level feature I don't think it understands to exclude UI elements and it lacks some information in game frame generation options support
Heyyy, I joined here because I don't know where else to go. I'm having a problem on the PC Xbox Gamebar & PC Xbox App where I cannot do anything with XBL Parties. Each time I go to join my friend's party, it lets me join, however it says they are "disconnected" and sometimes after about 10ish seconds, it disconnects me completely from the party and says something along the lines of "We can't connect you to the party. Try again later". Any tips on how to fix this?

Hii
gang does anyone want to play roblox with me user DryFlower_pot
If you're looking for someone to play with, please go to #1094715375884697600
I was playing Earth Defense Force 6 with it to make the game feel smoother. Works well there.
not the game I'd be using framegen with
average ttk's about 0.2s
adding any latency to that means you're very much likely to be the one to die in any gunfight encounter
This is what I’m excited to actually test, I’ve yet to use it on MP so will see how I play.
as long as Gears Reloaded supports Nvidia Reflex the latency hit from frame generation should be reduced but compared to the latency without using frame generation but using Nvidia Reflex it will be worse, perhaps not by much but if you value latency frame generation is not a setting you want to have enabled, especially on more competitive games
I'd go as far as to ask devs why they add frame generation if its supported in games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Fortnite etc why they add it as it goes against the very thing these games demand. Low latency, high FPS gameplay
because some people dont care lol
not everyones playing fortnite on all low settings 5000fps to win world cup
some people just enjoy the silly characters and playing with friends
it has a whole bunch of different collaborations and theres so many different game modes
the techs available and its entirely optional, theres no reason not to implement it. some people want it
true and it should always remain optional. Frame Generation and upscaling
personally I don't touch frame generation as I'm not a fan of fake frames but I don't mind using upscaling if it has to be used. I'll only use the upscaling preset necessary that will help achieve at least 60 FPS in games after I crank the settings up to max (minus ray tracing) and where FPS is already great than 60 FPS after doing that I'll even enable FSR Native AA (or equivalent settings like DLAA) instead as I've found FSR Native AA can often be better than TAA though it does come with a bit of a hit to performance
why does my xbox controller stop working and rumble but still has power

I don’t think it will since it’s a very old UE3 game but I would run it at 144fps native anyway since you cannot lock the FPS beyond this.
Yeah I don’t mind a small latency increase if it means a massive boost in frames.
Playing games Native for almost 3 decades at the very highest quality and I kid you not I cannot tell the difference when I have FG on.
You would have to be really, really looking for it and absolutely locked in to “see” what is native and what isn’t.
I absolutely believe in blind tests the average person / majority of people wouldn’t even know FG is on.
Yeah absolutely nailed it here.
I want to disable to share button on my controller, i have tired the accessories app and the button does not show up. i have tried key remapping and that does not work, i have looked for a way to disable the xbox game bar and i cannot find one please help me
so u looking for a way to disable what the share button on ur controller or disable game bar on pc?
disable to share button mainly i think i have it though. i went into my registry and disabled it
How have you done that?
I can't lie, I've never got the "share" button on a Series controller to work on PC
nvidia finds out apple marketing doesnt work
i just looked up how to do it, there is a specific path u gotta follow

hello so i have a doubt regarding gaming laptops
so i am looking at two options of asus rog strix, one is a 5060 laptop but with 115 tgp and other other is a 4060 laptop with 140 tgp
which is the better option, does more tgp always mean better or not really
I never heard anyone decide the laptops based on tgp tbh. U need the entire specs of the laptops. For all i know the 5060 or 4060 laptop has better cpu ram etc...
oh i see, my buddy was insisting on looking at tgp over everything else but i checked the benchamarks and 5060 laptop performs better than 4060 laptop as expected despite being 115 w tgp and the 4060 being 140 w tgp
I rarely look at that. I look at the specs. And whats the laptop will be used for tbh
also i would like to play the latest AAA titles at 1080p, would you suggest that i go for the 12 gb vram options or 8gb vram will suffice
- A lot of the newer titles need more than 8. Hell the 5060 ti 16 gig verson out sold the 8 gig variant same could be said for amd as well
right fair enough, a shame that the 12 gb laptops are quite a bit more expensive but maybe worth it if you wanna play the newest stuff
i'm guessing ue5 games are the biggest cuplrits of consuming insane vram
Just dont use ray tracing. Its a perf killer. The scope of games getting bigger and more. A lot bigger textures and stuff and that all add up
ye i don't really care much about ray tracing
also is core ultra 9 good for laptops? i know the desktop ones have a bed reputation
Me neither it hasnt come to the point that rt is worth the perf hit
I dont know. Im amd cpus all the way now.
is amd superior for laptops too or is it not so straightforward
i'm mostly confused about the cpu side of things, it's not so clear cut for laptops as it is for desktops where amd cpus are no brainer
Not sure. I know that amd is making the chips for next gen consoles for xbox and ps
It depends what u gonna use ur laptop for. Pure gaming or professional work
As well as ur budget
Work as in video editing or 3d modeling?
no, mostly coding and maybe ai training stuff perhaps
but ye i am mostly thinking about gaming perf
Go that way. U may want to invest more ram in the future if ur work stuff needs more
do all gaming laptops have option to add more ram
i'm specifically looking at asus rog range
but i'm open to other like dell hp too
dell alienware too even although those are super pricey
Not really sure. Last laptop i have is a lenovo which worked pretty well though didnt game on it. U can ask the other peeps who r on this channel like subzero
hmm fair enough
I havent used a laptop in over 8 years or so sorry
so for gaming what should i prioritize most in a laptop, gpu vram and cpu? ram probably not so much as most of them allow for additional ram
Depends on what cpu they have. Usually laptops have decently matched cpu to gpu for little bottleneck issues
But if u want new triple a titles get 10 plus vram
right so i shouldn't be panicking about bottlenecks much ig
yep 4080 laptop and 5070ti laptops are slowly being on the top of my list now
Not really. Its not like they will match up a 10 year old cpu with a 5090 lol
ye ig the idea is to reduce said bottlenecking
I thought ryzen 9 9950x3d is the best gaming cpu
atleast it should be on paper no?
ye because it's super new
More on the 9800x3d
Ofc it is lol
and despite being a ryzen 9 is just marginally better than ryzen 7 9800x3d
I doubt it gonna be that much a difference tbh
hmm
so ye it's more like a bragging rights cpu without much substance
it probably does do other tasks better than 9800x3d tho i bet
since 16 cores
Yeah but gamers just it to game lol
Im a pure gamer so i wouldnt know the first about that. Do they use bender?
nope
i mean i did use it to obtain a stock 3d model for a teapot
but that's it really
Well gn. I have get some sleep 4 work tmr
It is Number 1
-33% Performance Loss with a 14900K
yep gn
wow intel bottlenecks this hard?
why is 14th gen so bad i'm genuinely surprised
it's not even close
What’s worse is that is 14th gen. Intel’s newer CPUs (Core Ultra 200 series) are sure to perform worse than that still, lol
Yeah the Super Duper Mega Ultra 285K is usually slower in gaming than the 14900K
If you value gaming performance and want the best, right now AMD’s 9800X3D is about as good as it gets
what I find somewhat ironic is that Intel brought in the P cores and E cores as something that could have been revolutionary for desktop PCs but either it hasn't worked out to be that way or Windows scheduling or games just aren't properly equipped to understand such a layout. Ideally for gaming or any heavy task the Intel CPU would use the performance cores while putting other background tasks onto the E cores but unless Windows 11's optimizations do that correctly the default scheduling would actually be to use the faster cores (performance cores) which could overwhelm them while then barely utilizing the slower E cores
@smoky flame which is better? 1 single 32 gb ram stick or 2x 16 gb
hmm
also should i go for 4080 laptop or 5070ti one
both are 12 gb vram
and honestly they're both roughly the same price
despite 4080 being much older
Conclusion, if same/similar price then 5070 Ti
Just remember that 5070ti desktop and 5070ti laptop are 2 completely different things so don’t expect 5070ti performance
oh ye i'm aware
i would love to get a desktop but it's not a viable option for me as I will be studying abroad, laptop it is
so i'm just looking for a solid 12 gb vram laptop option
so far the asus rog strix 5070ti laptops look real good
if there is a way to check for reviews comparing the 4080 mobile and 5070 Ti mobile I would do so as looking at the specs on techpowerup's GPU database the 4080 mobile may be the better option but without a side by side comparison that will be hard to tell for sure
Hmm
e
thats not what that is
the 5070 ti lol what
it draws less power
its a laptop
Wdym
I'm seeing performance benchmarks and 4080 and 5070ti laptop give pretty similar performance
Despite 5070ti having lower tgp
well yeah it should be a no brainer
5070 ti is newer and is more power efficient
also has MFG if you want to game on your laptop for whatever reason
Right
Also what brand is good for gaming mouse?
I dont necessarily need a super fancy one, just good enough to do the job
I use the g502
Thirty something on amazon prime day. Logitech been making those for years.
hmm
I have a Logitech G305 Lightspeed.
so logitech gaming mouses are usually the most preferred?
i thought razor was more preferred idk
Its up to personal preference. Choosing a gaming mouse is hard.
quite the rabbit hole. Only thing I can think of that would be as chaotic, if not more than peripheral buying is case buying... Way too many options
Fr. I had the same issue too last month
The most chaotic is choosing a good keboard or mouse rather than pc parts. With pc parts everyone is more consistent lol
ye fps per dollar is usually the prevailing criteria for pc parts
but you've ofc got those diehard nvidia fans who will rather buy the costlier weaker performing gpu over a comparable amd gpu that's usually cheaper
their justification being it has better ray tracing but they rarely use it in practice
also if i'm not wrong 9070xt has really solid ray tracing performance, very close to nvidia counterparts now
amd has definitely improved with their ray tracing capabilities with this gpu range
Yeah. I still wouldnt use rt in games tbh
yep
games look fine enough without it really, rt is a great feature but clearly needs lot more improvements in performance
Agreed.
and i will always choose performance over fidelity for games
even singleplayer
you won't notice as many details when focusing on playing
and better fps objectively gives a more satisfying gameplay experience
depends on your grip and handsize lol
dont pick based on popular brands
thats how you end up with a logikek g502
if you really want something generic just get a maya x or something
oh
so performance is not that big of a concern
i'm guessing high dpi mouse is preferred?
it isnt particularly about brand but what suits you the most, and the pros and cons of chosing that option
personally the deathadder is my favorite choice because its very optimal for chucking at the wall and it still being okay
Ah ofc raging is another factor to consider
honestly any mouse with the two buttons on the side is pretty nice
a mouse i want to get is the Razer Naga
not that i play mmos just having a keypad on my mouse would be funny
thats not what i said at all
Isnt dpi really the only performance related thing to consider?
As well as egronomics.
Yes. Ike as lisquie said depends if the mouse fits ur handsize and how u hold ur mouse
Well I guess the safest option is to go for something that generally works for most
U really need to do research on the subject
True
Example: I have smaller hands than most mice are designed for so it can be really awkwardly shaped with the hump(?idk what to call it 😂) . To the point of discomfort.
My hand won't change size to fit
I sometimes get mice and send them back bc it's just not going to work
Thats my plan too, if the one I got doesn't work for me
So the best mouse would be the highest dpi one that fits your hand i suppose?
In your budget , that has the features you want
Ye ofc
I don't personally care for the extra buttons, but ik lots of peeps who do
Competitive gamers love that since you can bind jumping and sliding in them
Not everyone needs a keypad on their mouse. Thats more for mmos and stuff like that
Sure but not everyone is a competitive gamer 😂
Of course of course
I myself have stopped multi-player since last October since i wanted to explore more of gamepass
100% worth it honestly
I was literally playing nothing but multi-player for like the whole of 2023 lol
I gave up on mp/live service games too. I may get back into it with bl4
Yes
I dont listen to reviews tbh. A lot of them r biased
Didnt u posted something like this hours ago
Similar but not the same
That was hours ago
Seems like intel needs to up their game .....a lot
this game right now atleast
looks really good
ye but i'd be holding my horses personally, bf 2042 looked promising too but look how that turned out
9800X3D is an incredible gaming CPU. This has been known for a while lol. That 3D cache goes hard.
Game changer when devs optimise and factor stuff like 3D V Cache in
Your kind of thing? @smoky flame
nope, not sure I'd play that
But it has VR Path Tracing Super Ultra Realistic Lighting
Looks terrifying from the trailer though 🙁
https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-25-8-1.html "Stutter improved while playing Call of Duty®: Warzone™ Season 03 ‘Verdansk’ map on some AMD Graphics Products NOTE: Stutter has been reduced with 25.8.1, and AMD is working with the developer toward a full solution. "
BRUH 😭
BO6 is nearly at it's end of life. 😐
tried to install bf6 beta. gave me an error of secureboot not installed screw that skip it. uninstall
Yeah, EA’s anti cheat requires secure boot to be enabled. Not the only anti cheat to require it but it may just be the most consistent one as all games that use it require it afaik
it didnt ask me that in cod or any other online game
Call of duty doesn’t require secure boot but iirc Valorant does (or did)
the list seems to be few but growing
then i play bf6 on ea play next year via xbox then not bothering with the headache of installing secureboot
Unless EA cave in to the backlash about the secure boot requirement its always going to be there
true. another reason i dont like ea outside of sw games
looks like anthem getting delisted later this month not surprising
EA is uh
a little traumatized to what happened with apex
and what happened with using Easy Anticheat
(aka the most worthless anticheat known to man)
Downloaded BF6, told me I'm not using secure boot. So I turned it on; then moaned about my drivers and wouldn't launch. Massive nope and I deleted it 🤣
stopped at the secure boot error message and uninstalled
I might be wrong but don’t you need secure boot for Win 11 ?
Optional but TPM is required
i got both those on
Skipping on secure boot since i barely play mp/coop games now
is secure boot that complex to do?
something in the bios i think. my policy unless its xmp or mounting a drive i dont do anything with the bios
Anybody else having issues with pc xbox app having slow download speeds? Same with battlenet. Im only getting 10MBs, but then I check Steam and its perfectly fine
fair enough, should just be a disclaimer to advise using secure boot rather than a mandatory thing
the only time secure boot really becomes a problem for some on PC is when games with anticheat that check for it emerge. Up until then its been all quiet. Won't be too surprised to see or hear that if EA aren't going to budge from removing it on their Javelin anticheat that motherboard vendors may have to consider updating supported boards to have it enabled by default, similar to the whole TPM thing after Windows 11 released where motherboard vendors enforced TPM
Im not sure what secure boot even does
first time i heard of it too
says it prevents malware
it allows riot vanguard
that's one of the other heavy anti cheat solutions isn't it?
iirc there was one anti cheat that was supposedly active even when not playing the game that uses it and could ban you for installing software it doesn't like. Idk the truth in that but I'd fully expect once a game is closed for any additionaal software etc to be closed with it lol
damn, that is malware level stuff and nasty. Though most anticheat solutions should be root or kernel level so why this problem only flairs up on maybe a few solutions is weird to say the least
we all know why ea is going as hard as they are on anticheat after their game got backdoor'd and everyone was subject to RCE and during a tournement everyones games were hacked aswell
riot vanguard, that's League of Legends and Valorant right? I'll be steering well clear of those games and any that go on to use it going forward
I mean stay away from Valorent
but league is kinda worth the malware
also punkbuster still runs on my system despite not playing a single ubisoft multiplayer game in years
oh wait
its because of far cry 2
The correct version of anticheat is just not making multiplayer games for pc
also on that list
almost 140 games using EAC
an anticheat that doesnt even work
there's one other security measure I should probably make people here aware of now before they run into compatibility issues with it but iirc core isolation and its subsettings called kernel-mode hardware-enforced stack protection and it can be somewhat awkward with some anticheat and there is a good chance it will be turned off by many systems until correcting some incompatibilities. I ran into that issue with Fall Guys as I think it uses an older version of EAC and until I removed it that kernel-mode hardware enforced stack protection option wasn't having it
there are more settings within core isolation I have yet to figure out how to properly enable but it sure is quite the rabbit hole 😅
Was Secure Boot already on for you or did you have to enable it?
had to be enabled
you use an ASUS motherboard right?
I was just in my board's BIOS which is ASUS too but to enable it I think it was boot options and then look for secure boot, open that and then change the other OS option to Windows UEFI and the option below that from custom to standard and then hit F10 to apply and restart and that should be secure boot enabled (for an ASUS motherboard, other vendors will vary in how secure boot is enabled but the process should be similar)
a small but important side note I should add for anyone that enables secure boot on Windows. If you use Linux (whether that is dual boot or on another drive) you may get a secure boot violation warning when trying to boot into Linux in which you'll have to change back to "Other OS". Ran into this through some personal experience when trying out some Linux distros over the past year or so myself
Got my PG27UCDM (4K OLED 240hz) yesterday, wow it is so crisp!
Feels like I got a new glasses prescription lol
Wow! Nice choice of monitor
Just waiting for my monitor arm because its a little wobbly when I type
During gaming I dont notice it but on desktop/discord etc its enough to be annoying
Did you check for any firmware updates?
Yeah gonna do that soon, currently downloading 50000 installers for when I migrate to my new PC 😄
yeah? its an anti cheat?
If thats what you wanna call it
if not an anti cheat what is it
its totally optional and if you dont want to use it dont play those games
if you do then use it and dont complain cuz its totally fine
I dont think anticheat should bsod my pc when i turn it off
thats an issue you need to fix
if you really think its the anti cheats fault submit a report
thats been an issue with vanguard since its creation
yeah and user error has existed since the first fish walked
okay Asus
classic
I just keep secure boot off. Play those games on my xbox console
Well, it started to happen: https://x.com/CallofDuty/status/1953139349429661786 and "TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) is an industry-standard, hardware-based security feature built onto CPUs or motherboards that verifies the PC’s boot process has not been tampered with. Secure Boot makes sure a PC can only load trusted software when Windows starts. Together, these features help #TeamRICOCHET ensure that players are starting the game from a secure, cheat-free foundation."
Black Ops 6, then into Black Ops 7...
I honestly hope it helps with the damn cheaters tbh
Xbox can’t hit 500fps though 😭
Can you without fake frames?
Im only playing campaign in bo7 and bf6
Yes because if it can do 300-400 maxed out then I’ll tweak settings to hit 500
yeah, motherboard vendors are going to have to see if they can enable secure boot by default like they did eventually with TPM going forward otherwise there is going to be a lot of tech support related questions like "can't access game, how do I enable secure boot?"
Doubt but okay.
You can doubt but that’s really it’s already been tested.
You're using fake frames. Try a decent AAA game and get 400+ FPS.
On high, don't forget.
Bro I haven’t even played the game yet what do you mean “fake frames” ??
330-370 without FG
I can tweak it and achieve 500
Bro I'm on about your others games too. You're showing off but you're using fake frames. It's not the same.
Show me fake frames 👍
These benchmarks you keep posting are useless because of frame gen.
Yeah well, that's not 400+ 🤣
There’s no frame gen
You do realise the difference between a stress test benchmark and then in game right?
You do realise MP is a lot easier to run and I’ve got multiple games without FG on MP that easily run 300-700fps ?
woah, that is an impressive result though the only thing I would nitpick about it is having DLSS set to auto. That could mean any of the DLSS presets are used, including ultra performance to which at 1440p I have no idea how low that resolution internally would be. All I know is at 4K with ultra performance preset selected is 720p internally
... You do you. Whatever helps you sleep at night 👍
Yeah this guy gets it.
I just like to nitpick about stuff sometimes 😅
😅
Thanks man, I post two games with FG and you’re going haywire over it 😄
I'm not though. I'm not the one trying to show off with fake frames 😅
other times I manage to pick out things that people might have missed by accident pretty well too
Not at all, I didn’t mention “Fake Frames” nor do I see anything wrong with using Frame Gen.
😂
I could get around 100fps native on my 6800xt no ray tracing at 1440p at medium high
Nice, that’ll be much better in game
I'm still very much against frame gen personally but stopped myself from going on about it after some stuff lisquie said recently on here. Gamers can find out for themselves whether they like it or not but I do believe it should always be optional, same with upscaling
I usually tweak the settings anyway because you don’t need blanket Ultra or High, watched a in depth video years ago where they often compared Medium v High v Ultra and SOME settings visually wasn’t worth the performance trade off.
🙇♂️
Did this in Gears 4 and the Benchmark was able to get 470fps average which is insane because when it came out even with the best set up wasn’t getting anywhere near that.
Ray tracing should be optional not mandatory in games same about upscaling like dlss fsr xess tsr etc....
Gears 5 the same, 410fps average in the benchmark which for how visually good it is, equally very good.
I mean if it’s optional I wouldn’t use it personally
But some people live for the Rays
hardware just needs further improvements for ray tracing to become more viable but unfortunately, for as long as Nvidia hold their grip on the gaming market they can dictate the pace in which such advances are being made hence why it seems so slow in terms of progress made on the ray tracing side of things. We've seen more progress on upscaling and frame generation, features that are effectively a bandage to help ease the loss in performance from enabling ray tracing in games that can optionally turn it on
Who people with 5090s lol. Its not worth the high perf hit. Let alone path tracing or rt overdrive lol
Yeah I did Insane settings for Gears 5 and it held up well until I got to one area with the Sun out 😂
Those Rays cost a lot of Frames
Unless u a huge image person who cares about shadows lighting normal peeps cant tell the diff between non rt and rt
the differences are there, even though it can be pretty subtle sometimes
True
I’m more of a high quality textures kinda person
If I have to deal with bad texture quality to run a game at an FPS that doesn't give me a headache I'm just not going to play that game ngl
Extremely rare for this to happen though. There is almost always something I can do.
Yeah because the image turns to like play dough or smooth mush 😭
RuneScape textures moment
That game gets a pass though because its fun for other reasons
and they improved it
Also on the GPUs I tend to buy texture resolution is basically never the bottleneck
Yeah I usually turn down Shadows one or two levels
As well as Ambient Occlusion to off
Huge perf gains
Same. Usually its medium for me
"itll work this time!"
as they said, again.
amd drivers finally
Anyone knows how to fix call of duty ox7 error code

Can’t wait for the 27” 540Hz Version!
Interesting downloaded Bf6 and didn’t have to change any settings it just ran right off steam !!
So excited to try it tonight
Oh its already available in an hour!! I thought 17:00 my time lol
Smilegate expands partnership with former GTA creative director Dan Houser for global AAA publishing

Great for color accuracy. Awful for literally anything else in a lit room
yeah, my monitor is semi glssy I think and it can pick up lighting and stuff. I prefer to play in an unlit room even during the day I'll have my room's blinds drawn to keep out so much light but I don't have blackout binds, that would be ideal being on a WOLED and playing in a pitch dark room
Fully glossy though, My brother's LG C1 is like that and I'd hate it I think
Does anyone here have PC Game Pass? Is it any good? What good games are on it?
It’s really good there’s a lot of games like Skyrim and fallout and stuff on it and some games that are on game pass ultimate are also on PC game pass. But if you have both an Xbox console and a PC I suggest ultimate
There are lots of good games. Just make sure ur pc has good enough specs. I personally liked expedition 33
Who is excited for QuakeCon. Wish I could go but working today. Will still get those nice item drops on steam
Yeah I’ve been used to Glossy with the TV and I wouldn’t have any direct light hitting my monitor so it’s perfectly set up for Glossy Pop Out Colour and I’m so happy it’s finally going to be available soon - I really do not like Matte Coatings !!
This is a massive step above the previous tbh though.
Is there a way to dim the xbox button on pc yet, I can't seem to find a solution ?
It never bothered me tbh.
LG presents new monitors at K-Display 2025 Monitors are getting faster, while resolutions go lower. LG’s first 4th gen Tandem OLED monitor was recently launched in China. The technology will will expand to new gaming monitors in the near feature and there are some interesting teasers from this year’s K-Display event in Seoul. Among gaming […]
Gimmie the ASUS Model already 😭
turn it around
im sorry but ray thinks she is tuff but she is not that good
Black masking tape
Isn't 720 hz overkill? Forgive my ignorance but I thought that anything over 60 fps is basically undetectable by the human eye and anything over 120 is basically pointless.
Can definitely detect the difference between 60 and 120, but I think the upper limit of what your eye can differentiate is 500hz
Well even then between 60 and 120 the flicker rate is difficult to differentiate
You can very clearly tell the difference between 60, 120 and even 240
I havent tried higher than 240, but I can instantly tell you if a game is running at 120 or 240, very clear difference
diminishing returns past a certain point
I can run up to 480Hz on my monitor, albeit at 1080p and not 4K and I can still notice some improvements. Cursor movement on desktop still feels smoother than even at 240Hz but trying to reach that sort of FPS could be a challenge in some games. I already know of at least one game that appears to have a game engine limit of 400 FPS so you won't be able to do higher than that if purely going for FPS = refresh rate and that game is Diablo 4 and there is a good chance many other games will have engine limits on FPS too
dual mode monitor? nice
yeah, LG 32GS95UE. Had it now for a little over a year and love it! One of my best tech purchases of all time. Going to take something pretty special to top it I think
that something special would be an OLED with true RGB subpixel layout, Displayport 2.1 with full 80Gbps bandwidth support and that's about it I think. Everything else including dual mode is optional extras and that's what makes it somewhat awkward as I feel very close to what I would call an endgame gaming monitor. I really don't think it gets much better than this (and the stuff that would really take it to the next level)
sounds about right
no
gotta stop listening to the silly people who say "the human eye sees at 30fps" or "cant see above 60fps" or whatever
besides. even if 720hz is overkill its cool to get tech improvements. thats kinda how things advance
Well my opinion is we could have tech improvements in other ways instead of just focusing on line go up. See the heavy focus on graphics that has skyrocketed game prices, inflated GPU prices, and only causes issues. Meanwhile Indy titles with newgrounds graphics run like butter on integrated graphics.
tech improvements are happening everywhere
like how we're using AI to fake frames which cause blurs, or how gpus and games have only gotten more expensive yet the tech can't catch up to the increasing need for ridiculous levels of graphical fidelity?
Also i found a website that says the human eye can detect up to 500Hz in a controlled setting, but the average is 50-90, and anything over 240 while gaming is highely unlikely to be noticed
https://www.howtogeek.com/888948/how-many-fps-can-the-human-eye-see
Though i will also say that many websites did corroborate the fact that higher refresh rate is better for things like shooters which lets you detect very slight movements.
But again, most people say that anything over 240 is overkill
the fake frames don't really cause blurs, that's more likely to be the upscaling that does that and GPUs will continue to get more expensive due to how they are made not becoming any cheaper, similar to games too
Items are supposed to become cheaper the more technology is introduced, see the car, plane tickets, etc.
Games getting more expensive is because of management bloat, gpus getting more expensive because games are getting over demanding on graphical fidelity, when, again, indie games and AA titles are not pushing the limits of blinding graphics yet selling gang busters. I fail to see how this is a good direction for the industry to go given this, albeit second hand informed, direction
(also i don't know anything about the upscaling debate, there was a video that went into depth about it so that's what i pulled my info from)
I couldn't agree more.
So i got my gaming laptop and im planning to upgrade it to 32 gb, im assuming there is no setup needed to be done after changing ram?
Just xmp the ram in the bios to make sure the ram runs at the best speed
Oh
the RAM can be upgraded on this laptop yeah? That's one of the first things I would make sure of
It can be yes
2 slots available to insert ram
Its got 16 gigs by default
500Hz is no where near the limit
EDIT 2025-01-24: We are willing to help fund an official blind test scientific study as a collaboration on this. We already have 30+ citations in peer reviewed research papers. Please contact us. 240+ Hz Not Just For Games: 4x & 8x Geometrics for Mainstream Win Human visibility of refresh rates are massively amplified with OLED.
This guy gets it
I know this may sound obvious, but Is it necessary to change the power mode to best performance while gaming
Its not the same as overclocking is it?
no. it deals with how much power the laptop draws. like best efficiency or batttery saver mode
so i'm guessing best perfrormance mode should be activated for gaming?
u could try it. i havent used laptop in gaming in years
wdym?
really not sure. ii dont play attention to that on desktop. u need to research and see what u like
alright fair enough
well what do you want
do you want best performance? or best battery life? lol
plugged in i see no reason not to use best performance but do whatever
i just hope best performance doesn't affect my laptop's lifespan that's it really
I would go for best performance of course if that isn't the case
as long as you take care of your laptop it shouldnt
Keep it plugged in, make sure its slightly elevated so the fans can actually breathe.
uh does anyone here got a problem error 0X80073CF0 and fixed it? and how
because I'm struggling with it here.

That’s cool
I don't think its as much to do with the graphics as it is the processes in how GPUs are made in the factories. That's what I was getting at before where costs are going up. GPU die and CPU die are not getting any easier or cheaper to make (seemingly) and that is where the big kicker of cost increases comes in. You may also have to factor in tariffs as those will have something of an impact on the cost where companies don't or can't absorb all the costs and instead pass that onto the consumer but the less of that stuff mentioned the better.
TL:DR? Technology is in a weird timeline right now where costs don't seem to be coming down but rather going up to a multitude of factors
if power modes behave the same way as power plans do I would just leave it at the default Balanced mode. That way the laptop only uses the power it needs rather than running the CPU and GPU at max frequency even when idle or doing light tasks like browsing or using Discord
I was thinking of getting a laptop cooler
and whats that gonna do that the laptops cooling already doesnt
@smoky flame going to benchmark Doom, MK & Flight Sim 2024 since they’re on Game Pass
i would imagine flight sim 2024 will have the lowest perf
Why 😭
I need MAXIMUM Perf
Yo is there anyone who's xbox app not launching aswell?
Mine is fine, check the Microsoft Store App for any updates.
@smoky flame any other Benchmark Game Recommendations?
I'm trying for weeks to fix this god damm issue, the xbox live chat support ain't even working now.
At last i posted the issue on feedback hub, it's been 4 days,no comments or anything,i just can't get this app to open anymore.
There's so many other people asking there for "Support" but none of em are getting even 1 legit comment.

BO6 has a benchmark
Well it will improve the cooling more, my friend has said he saw a 6-10 degrees dip in temperatures on average when using those cooling devices
So does most of the newer ubisoft titles
Check out cities skyline 2.
@smoky flame
Which benchmark did you run?
On Doom?
Ah I see - you did the first one (Hebeth)
Just did 2x Runs
One pure Native Ultra Nightmare
One UN with FG x4
Did u try cities skylines 2 i heard it was 15 fps on a 5090 or a 4090 forgot which
4090
It doesn’t have a Benchmark
the bench mark is the population and at 700k its about 30 fps
(5090)
(at 5120x1440)
also
theres a msi board coming out and it looks pretty sick and rather innovative
the power connectors are on the right side of the board
Best Motherboard Ever was the ASUS Glacial
You should see the price on that 😉
Almost £2,000
there is no way I would spend that kind of money on a motherboard. Lucky if I'd spend a third of that sort of pricing. I wouldn't spend more than what I spend on the CPU itself (I got my 9800X3D for £470)
can't even remember how much I paid for the motherboard I have back in 2023 but it wasn't even £300 I'm pretty sure as it is the ASUS Strix B650E-F
Yeah mine I can’t remember but was about £600-£800
^ Native ^ - Ultra Nightmare
^ With Frame Gen ^
^ New High Score ^
I've had a friend talk me over some RAM tuning so idk how benchmarks from me are going to look going forward. Obviously I won't be beating a 5090 with just better RAM tuning but results should be a bit stronger than they were previously or just much the same lol
I would share the changes but I think the adjustments only apply to A-Die kits specifically
I can make a small impact for sure, maybe run the CPU Profile too in 3DMark as a baseline
like vram tuning?
in my experience it can make a difference on budget cards ie the 6600
i havent really tried it on my 7900 gre
but from the information i see you can get the gre to a raw performance of a 7900xt
so i did an overclock test on 2077 and i did manage to get a 10 fps difference in the average, it ran a little more cooler then the default (ran around 65-67 at most whilst base ran around 70 to 71 at most) i didnt really see any difference in vram clock speeds or usage, used about the same amount. It did use about 45 watts more power aswell
tried bf6 beta. not for me
i actually bit the bullet and turn on secure boot on my pc
left is overclock, right is normal
(it did crash when i went back to the main menu so -100mv is not exactly stable on a asrock 7900)
only problem with that is I have no baseline having never ran a CPU Profile test on the previous configuartion before. All I'd have to go by is how the RAM is tuned now and maybe redoing some previous benchmarks. CPU and GPU remain stock with the only likely changes being BIOS, chipset and GPU driver updates since some benchmarks were completed
not VRAM, no. RAM. According to what I was told this is currently as good as A-Die DDR5 can be optimized. I used the XMP/DOCP profile that gets me to 6000 MT/s as a baseline and then tuned the timings and subtimings and lets just put it this way, they are much improved overall compared to the default profile I used
even to a point I was nervous to apply them as there was so many changes lol
An I understand although you had a very good result!
Same, runs fantastic but not for me
Will wait for BO7
i betting serious coin that itll be like bo6
@dusky wave by the way remember when i threw out the idea of making a laptop out of desktops part? apparently that was done recently
I wanna take a look at the video but the idea was taking a itx motherboard, cutting off everything that got in the way, taking off the gpu shroud and applying copper heatsinks, and this was used with a 5090
At that point, what is the point 😄
If you strapped me to a chair and told me
"you can only leave after you either do a custom water loop or make a laptop" id take the laptop
Need some game recommendations 😭
Borderlands 4!
Is that the new one?
Yeah, releases in a little over a month
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Strix-XG27ACS-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B086ZSLPN1 Oh, I bought another monitor! 😄
£228 on Amazon, got it for £80
Was brand new, sealed box.
nice
Playing ai corn games so far its been great, thinking of converting to atheism
lol bless
amazing
how is razer support regarding old products?
i have a keyboard from like 5-6 years back and its started to rust on multiple places
first it was just in one spot now its spreading
I don't think peripherals like keyboard and mouse have a warranty that would go beyond 2 years but that really doesn't sound or look good. How can a keyboard rust? Has it come into contact with water often?
i did wipe those areas with wet wipes before, and then with a dry cloth immediately, and i stopped ever since that spot started rusting, there has been no moisture on the other parts aswell
one of the areas is covered by the magnetic wrist rest 24/7
it has been a few years since that first spot
I wouldn't think the use of wet wipes could do that. I think you'd be best trying to get in touch with Razer support and see if you can send them those pictures. Really odd that
if you can, you might even want to stop using that keyboard too. The paint or metal finish wrinkling up like that in the other two screenshots doesn't look good either. Did it get like that (the wrinkling looking stuff) before the rust started to show?
i think so, and I just got a new mouse so i cant get a decent keyboard till atleast next year
the wrinkling is also around the rusting itself so, probably not a good sign
and razer support cant help cuz its out of warranty
I thought so.
that sucks, got a few good years with this one though
Most warranty last 2 years at best in regards to tech
U cant expect a company to support a product if they dont make that product for a number of years
I just gotten a new mouse and keyboard a few weeks back
biggest question for me is, when i switch keyboards, do I stay razer or go to some other company
Depends on what ur needs for ur keyboard. Do u want hybrid mechanical a specific keyboard size the type of keyboard keys etc...
Getting mouse and keyboard is getting pulled into 40 different directions
i got a razer basilisk wireless because i already had a deathadder and wanted something new, not just the same thing without wire and i love razer mice, they are comfy and reliable (in my experience)
but not so sure about keyboard cuz i want a better sounding one
U dont need an expensive 200 usd keyboard. I got a mechanical with red backlight wired for like 20 usd
Then u really need to test that and see what type of keys u want
If you spend a lot of time on customizing profiles, I would stick with Razer.
To not create them again….
Just saying I won’t spend time recreating the profiles.
yeah i found a good keyboard on a layout i like, the keychron k4. but theres no stores here to test it
I brought a lemokey x4 or was it is x2
x2 is the full one it seems and x4 is the lesser keyboard
Then its x2. I needed a full keyboard
youre very unlikely to find good peripherals in brick and mortar
unless youre going to very specific stores that is
I will always praise the steelseries gg program, imo it's better than razer's
Does the cpu need driver updates or is that only a gpu thing?
Chipset drivers exist yes.
The CPU itself does not need driver updates but the chipset supporting it does sometimes
shame their products suck
but yeah their software isnt too bad
more so fixes bugs but potentially can if a bug is limiting performance
Hmm, i should also mention my gaming laptop has worse performance in a 13 year old game than relatively recent games somehow 😂
This happens sometimes. Newer hardware does not always play nice with much older APIs.
plus the game would have been optimized for much older hw anyways
I have an rtx 5070ti laptop and it comfortably hovers around 80-90 fps on ultra in far cry 6 while stays in the 70 fps region on high for far cry 3, not even
Ultra. Along with constant freezing
Ye ive heard it used to give 100+ fps for those gtx 980 cards, but the newer cards (30 series and onwards) struggle to exceed 100 with this game
In the case of 5000 series a lack of PhysX might be to blame for older games running poorly
So i should not be panicking about the poor performance at all right?
right
It ran doom eternal on 165 fps ultra
So i think ye that confirms it's a game issue
Its a shame tho, is there nothing that can be done software related to make 50 series cards better performing for old games?
if youre truly concerned about games that are that old i question why you have a modern desktop
but no just run them at max settings and call it a day
*modern laptop
But ye well im doing a mix of both really, i want to play the newest titles and the really old ones
I've been wanting to play some of the older games for a while and they're available at insanely good prices on steam
Realistically if you have hybrid cores, an older game should have its affinity set to only run on the Performance cores
This applies to Intel CPUs in particular
What is the game that is giving you performance issues?
Far cry 3
This is the first game ive tried that's before 2020
The other two are doom eternal and far cry 6, both have given more than satisfactory performance as ive mentioned
this game has known performance issues on ALL hardware
And were released in 2020 or later
Ye i saw the forums and was really shocked
Some people with killer specs were getting like 50 fps
First problem was that the game runs at unrestricted fps so I was getting like 400 fps in the main menu and my laptop was SCREAMING
so your laptop is absolutely not the issue here
Ye but im just wondering if anything at all could be done to improve the performance for far cry 3
I've been trying many solutions on reddit forums but none have boosted the fps really
Google has some suggestions. I don't have the game myself though
Fair enough
the game may also simply not play nice with modern OS
So i limited the fps for far cry 3 in the Nvidia control panel, is this better to do than enabling vsync in game settings?
that depends on the game
Ye and add up to the fact that 50 series cards have even worse support for 32 bit games
only PhysX 32 bit support is lost
Oh
Ye I think it gives all the processing for physics to the cpu now
I should also mention that far cry 3 was using only 30% of my gpu at all times
CPU usage?
Were any cores pinned to close to max?
Damn
there may be a way to reduce the physx stuff in the game options
Ye I dont think my cpu Is that weak
Hmm
Just to clarify alt tabbing to task manager won't make the laptop switch to the integrated gpu right?
idk depends on the laptop to some extent
Hmm
Ye downloading with rtss or smth like that
I might start using that because the Nvidia performance overlay is very basic
I might buy FC3 just to have a crack at trying to make it run well
It doesn't even show cpu temps, only gpu
Lmao, i think it was around 3 usd for me when i got it, converting the currency
oh nevermind... nope not dealing with that again
Oh
What's the problem with that?
It does ask me for uplay account login time to time whenever I launch fc3
the log in system is obnoxious for me
and it has in the past sent me unsolvable captchas
Ye I get you, i assumed ubisoft games on steam woukd run independently but that was too good to be true
Could this also be messing with performance? This whiole cross-launcher stuff
unlikely
Oh
once the game actually launches, the launchers generally stop running anything
Ah
it basically hands over control to the game at that point
yeah
Damn
theyre just there for their services
r6s uses ubisoft launcher for ubisoft connect for the multiplayer and accounts and stuff
I see
But i think bf2042 had cross-launcher multiplayer
Many players had steam/epic games icons beside them
Well anyways, fingers crossed that bioshock 1 and 2 remastered dont have atrocious performance like fc3
I believe those two were released in 2016 so they should work relatively fine on modern hardware
I never had an issue with it. like in ac shadows on steam
Does it not ask for uplay login? It keeps asking me that most times whenever I launch far cry 3
no just once in a while usually after a big ubi connect update
EAs launcher is alright
its not like ubis launcher
and how the ubisoft launcher is tied to the xbox app on pc for some reason
fun fact on older single player titles like Far Cry 2 it installs punkbustr
a anticheat
Yep, I am familiar with punkbuster. Honestly one of the best names for an anticheat.
Send it
Got an absolute bargain on this monitor
From where?
Looks similar to one I saw at a carboot. A man had loads of them brand new, boxed.
Facebook marketplace. The guy apparently bought it but didn't find time for games and his space wasn't big enough
Got it £130 off the box price so it's a w in my eyes
£130 seems like a new price. I paid £80 for a Rog strix 1440p 180hz. Was new too.
Nice looking setup raptor
The desk is the most expensive thing in the setup apart from the pc
Both monitors were haggled, but the other one is much older
Nice.
My new desk cost like 125 or so from amazon. 51 inch l shape
Cool
Have you guys ever observed a noticeable improvement in gaming performance by disabling your antivirus' real time scanning?
i dont think i done that
that feels like a terrible idea ngl
if i turn off my anti virus then my cpu usage and gpu usage spikes to 100% therefore im getting max performance for my pc
i just ignore the cmd prompt that pops up and a program called "bitminerpro.32bit" in the task manager
lol
I think suggesting people turn off their anti virus is a dumb idea
or reckless at the least
Totally agree
dw i was just making light of a silly thought of disabling an anti virus
Like keeping ur door unlocked
Cannot assume people will understand sarcasm 😂
I don't even always understand context ngl
no amount of fps is worth reinstalling windows after a turbo virus gets everything you love and own
Or steal ur personal information
especially with RCE vulnerabilities that have been found in various games
i just assume every game has a rce exploit it just hasnt been found yet
that is not as unlikely as it sounds
hell most anticheat constitute as malware
and are even starting to conflict with other anticheat
Secure boot is more necessary for some mp live service games
Secure boot is usually an indication of a game using kernal level anticheat
most of the time people complain unless its league of legends because that game has an inescapable death grip
League of Legends and Valorant use the same anti cheat right?
yes
and strangly enough it works better in league rather then valo
Well im really only thinking of disabling the real time scanning of my antivirus during the time I play and re-enable once I'm done, and i only play singleplayer nowadays so the threat of a virus attack is a bit low at that time I suppose
My cpu utilization while playing never exceeds 20% tho so maybe it's not really going to make a huge difference in performance
Still wouldn't recommend it
I would just leave it enabled. Hardly a need to change those settings, especially if it results in compromising your devices security
And what happens if u forget to turn it back on. Seems too much of a hassle turning it on and off for miniscule increase in perf
I wouldn’t think there is any noticeable difference
Same though i wouldn't test that
me neither. I value my device security
Fair enough
Me too
Ye I was thinking about that too, can always make slip ups and they could be costly in the end
Its not like u need to run single player games at above 60fps for the most part.
True
I have just gotten so obsessed with disabling as many background processes as possible
That aren't really needed to run in background
Like ea app, discord, ms edge
My advice dont do that unless u know what each of the background processes do
