However, if you have Game Pass Core, it will be $75-120 a year. So that brings you up a bit. If you choose Standard or Ultimate, that's an extra $15-20 a month, which stacks up.

Even if you do the 3:2 Ultimate conversion at its maximum of 3 years Core to 2 years Ultimate, that's still $112 per year of Ultimate ($90 per year before the upcoming price hike)

7600 XT won't be more powerful than the GPU on the Series X afaik for that you'd want to look at something around the RX 6800 tier and faster/newer

7700 XT would be the closest going by RDNA 3 but that features 2 more compute units (CUs) than the Series X's RDNA 2 GPU has (52 CUs) and since they are different architecture they can't really be compared like for like

my system specs in full. I definitely went overboard with the 7950X3D but it has been a very solid CPU just wouldn't recommend it. For gamers go for the 7800X3D. If you are a content creator the 7950X(non 3D) is likely one of the best options though with Zen 5 not far away that will likely soon be the 9950X

Laptop hardware is completely different. They need to scale down the parts, fit everything into a reasonably sized enclosure and make it not burst into flames due to much more limited cooling options.

yep, usually paying a premium for the portability while hardware SKUs are not equal to desktop SKUs. I'd be terrified if the mobile 4090 was equal to the desktop 4090. Having a GPU that will use around 450W of power on your lap (even on a table) 😱

ah, $1200 may be a stretch but the pricing of the 7800X3D has come down quite a bit since it launched and is currently the fastest CPU for gaming right now so you may be in luck 🤞

on the monitor side there is maybe only one monitor in the whole market that can be considered "future proofed" as it supports Displayport 2.1 80 Gbps bandwidth - meaning 4K 240Hz without the need for DSC, which is a pretty big deal to some. GPUs just need to support Displayport 2.1 and UHBR20 for it to all work together fully

I got this too. 2-3 things I did before launching again(and then it worked) not sure which fixed it. I launched battle.net and logged in and kept it on(same e-mail for bnet/gamepass), I switched my Xbox Sign-in account on the Xbox app, to another, and then launched COD, it did not give the error, closed game then logged back into my main account on the Xbox app... launched COD and it worked.

I use my brother's game pass account on the Windows Store, and my own account on the Xbox account on the Xbox app... only way to get by the Error 10 Code 2901 lobby not found issues was to play on the account that has Xbox Game Pass(signed into my brothers on Xbox app AND store)

Only thing I wish I knew about sooner was AMD's Freesync Premium Pro tier overrides HDR so I may not be getting the best HDR experience - VESA's DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification isn't showing in advanced display options when HDR is enabled and this monitor does support said certification

might be a relatively small thing but it means a return to an Nvidia GPU for me is more likely than ever but waiting for RTX 50 series before I consider that

I was super concered about that but here we are, almost a year later and I haven't had any issues with the connecetor. Temps are great. 4090 never goes over 65, cpu never goes over 70c on the most demanding games with maxed out settings but I'm running 360 aio with 9 fans in total in my case

Nvidia blamed it on "user error" but I call bs on that, sorry but this connector supposedly has a very limited lifespan compared to the older and much more trusted 8 pin connectors. Connecting it properly and knowing that it is actually contacting can be a hassle too from what I've heard and to top it off I believe the connector melting may have something to do with users trying to set 600W power limit as that will stress the connector at both ends a lot more

default power draw of the 4090 is around 450W but that will vary on GPU model and games + graphics settings used could use much less if setting to low and/or 1080p/1440p but a GPU that powerful is demanding 4K and ultra settings

Yeah all my settings are bone stock except for my ram speeds. I’m also only running an 850w psu and I haven’t experienced issues there either. Gpu power draw on a normal day playing cod is roughly around 250-300

sort of. I would have liked to have not been so impatient back when the Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs were launching and wait for the 7800X3D instead of spending some £250 more (at the time) on the 7950X3D. Don't get me wrong though, it has been a great CPU but for about 90% of the time (when gaming basically) I'm only really using about half of the CPU due to the scheduling AMD implemented on Windows for both the 7900X3D and 7950X3D 😅

yeah, I definitely will be waiting it out a bit longer next time. Waiting at least 3 months post release of new hardware to see how driver and BIOS updates affect performance over that time. My 7900 XTX was nearly returned early on as the drivers were hit or miss but with some time they improved a lot and with the whole Zen 4 X3D catching fire/burning the CPU and motherboard I was close to even returning my 7950X3D. My next upgrade that involves getting a new motherboard I won't be getting ASUS that is for sure with other stuff that has more recently happened. My next major upgrade is going to see a bunch of change!

I wouldn’t say so, no. Seeing as the 9950X is a 16 core CPU over two CCDs. Performance may be similar though but I wouldn’t recommend the 9950X

until AMD find a way to turn two CCDs into one similar to what they done when each CCD was also split into two CCX I just can't recommend people go past their 8 core CPUs (unless you need to then disregard this of course). Zen 3 really was a game changer and the 3D V Cache changed the game some more. A 16 core, one CCD CPU from AMD would be the next major change I think. No more additional latency from the separate CCDs and a larger combined cache (up to 80MB vs 40MB + 40MB)

nice, just be aware though there is a hit to latency with the Ryzen 9 CPUs due to dual chiplets though that may not matter too much when compiling code (I'm not actually too sure on that) but with gaming there may be some loss in performance when games try to use both chiplets and afaik there is no scheduling AMD implemented besides on the 7900X3D and 7950X3D to minimize that so you might need to find a way to manually select the better of the two chiplets for gaming while somehow holding the other one back in affected games. It is a little awkward that way 😅

AMD really could be onto a winner if they extended the game mode scheduling on to all the Ryzen 9 CPUs (at least as far back as the Ryzen 5900/5950X) when games are detected half of the CPU would be effectively parked but still in a useable state where required and this scheduler would pick the faster of the two chiplets for gaming (with the 7900/7950X3D it would pick the 3D V Cache while parking the faster chiplet)

I'm not surprised as 3D V Cache can improve performance in games and would be the go to choice just for that alone. Saying that, at 4K the improvements will be subtle but at 1080p or 1440p you should see better performance vs a 5800X (for example)

the dual chiplet 3D V Cache CPUs are in a weird position overall. For games you'll have the frequency side of the CPU effectively parked. Not sure about productivity programs though but the lower frequency of the chiplet with 3D V Cache it may actually lower performance

the 7800x3d has 8 cores while the 7900x3d has 12, the 8 cores on the 7800x3d can take advantage of the vcache while only 6 can use the vcache on the 7900x3d

so although the 7900x3d has a higher clock, more cores, more l3 cache it cannot get the same performance as the 7800x3d in gaming for that reason

due to the organic nature of the LEDs (hence the O in OLED) I think burn in will always be an issue but it can be mitigated with some features monitors and TV have built in to them. Best advice is to lower brightness and definitely don't have it at 100%. Higher the brightness the more likely burn in becomes, especially with static content

any game with Frame Generation will need it to help lower the additional latency that gets added from enabling that. Nvidia have Reflex to combat their implementation of Frame Generation and the latency added by that so Anti Lag 2 is really jsut AMD's answer to Nvidia Reflex

reducing latency is also helpful outside of Frame Generation with competitive games too. Hence why it is available on CS2 and Dota 2 iirc

Looks like neither the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X or AMD Ryzen 7 9700X have been met with a good response since launching. Quite the opposite as they don't appear to be much better, if at all than the CPUs they were supposed to replace. Zen 5 really not off to a good start

AFMF2 is driver level and there is already a driver level lag reducing option that should work together with AFMF when frame generation is enabled and the CS2 bans were the result of AMD adding support for Anti-Lag+ at the driver level and the game's anti cheat thinking players with it enabled were cheating when they were not hence the in game Anti Lag 2 option that was added more recently (about 2 months or so ago) you won't get banned for enabling that in either CS2 or Dota 2

think the problem with anti-lag+ was it offered enhanced lag reductions doing some stuff certain anti cheat systems would immediately flag. If not for that everything would have been fine. Anti Lag driver option is fine to enable in online games as that doesn't go as far as Anti-Lag+ was going though hopefully it returns or AMD puts focus into supporting a lot more games with the in game anti lag 2 option (especially for competitive games and those that support frame generation)

Im not sure what happened but they were really trying to be efficient in power. Either they got scared by intel ls trying to force major tdp or they're banking on making the 7800x3d but 9800x3d (but better)

yeah, I think in making the 9700X more efficient than the 7700X they are holding back the true performance. Had it stayed 105W TDP (just like the 7700X) overall reception of the CPUs might have been different. Feels like a rushed launch that even before the delay due to a misprint, AMD were reportedly unhappy with the performance of the 9700X but as it was too late to change anything they stuck with it. Definitely hasn't reached 7800X3D levels like was promised so as far as recommendations go, the 7800X3D still stands as the best CPU for gaming

btw 105W TDP (142W PPT) and 120W (162W PPT) is still very efficient compared to Intel's offering (14700K) that could draw up to 253W on a similar load that will require better cooling. Even in gaming it has been shown that the Intel CPU will draw more power than the equivalent AMD CPUs and in most cases the performance difference between each of them was negligible

From what ive seen from overclockers through manual OC theyve seen around a 5% increase while with PBO it was a little less

They probably knew the R5 and R7 wasn't up to par but they couldn't do much, probably which is why they did a half release

a system builder I know that has had their hands on these CPUs for a bit longer than most said the only CPU that is of any relevance in this stack of Zen 5 CPUs will be the 9950X that is due to release next week with the 9900X. All the rest kind of don't matter (pretty much his exact words) but for most users the 9950X is either too expensive or they will not see a whole lot of use from having so many cores (16 cores). AMD are also yet to release the motherboards that will natively support these CPUs too so I wonder if that may improve Zen 5's performance any being on the likes of X870(E), B850 or B840

Since the non x versions are usually cheaper and haven't been overclocked so you can do it yourself

the cost difference is usually small there and outside of maybe a 9900 I don't think there will be a non X stack of CPUs. 9600X and 9700X are already at 65W (up to 88W PPT) do they really need to be any more efficient than that? There is always ECO mode that can be enabled by the user in the BIOS if they really want to lower power draw further but honestly I'd find it that all a bit silly

different story of course for the 9900X and 9950X that are 120W (162W PPT) and 170W (230W PPT) respective but again, the user could just use ECO mode through their motherboard's BIOS to lower power consumption on those CPUs rather than wait a number of months for possible non X variants of these CPUs to launch that may cost only around $20 or so less

or rather then eco mode they could just use PBO2 to reduce the voltage, therfore reducing temps and powerdraw while keeping preformance

yeah but that option will require some additional tinkering to get just right. ECO mode should just work after enabling it though it may reduce performance a little

by a little I mean <5% so there isn't much to lose if you wanted to run say a 7950X at 105W (142W PPT) instead of its default 170W (230W PPT). I think you can even try the 65W (88W PPT) on the 7950X but at that point I'd wonder if it remains stable lol. 16 cores being run with up to 88W power consumption would be an Intel killer XD

if the 7950X can be run with the 65W (88W PPT) ECO mode that's only 44W per chiplet or 5.5W per core effectively vs stock 85W per chiplet and 10.6W per core

I think X3D is always going to be a bit different as the 3D V Cache is more sensitive to power and voltage hence why the 5800X3D originally didn't support PBO2 - Curve Optimizer, though I believe support for it was later added with select BIOS. 7800X3D supports it out the box and with the 9000 series there is further enhancements made to PBO2 with a new feature called curve shaper though for optimal support for that feature it will probably be best to own one of the new motherboards (when they release) rather than use an existing A620,B650(E) or X670(E) board seeing as the feature isn't native to those boards but rather added in through BIOS updates, just as support for these Ryzen 9000 series CPUs are too
