Any of the 120mm or 140mm would be fine. Deep cooler ak series is good enough for 5600x. 5600 is the same as the 5600x cost less for around 300mhz slower barely noticeable in gaming
or type c
Thought ur laptop are regular usb not usb c
200mhz slower. Than 5600 is 4.4ghz and the 5600X is 4.6ghz. I want the hyper 212 Evo but that's no longer being made too.
They make it hard for us lol
Is this just for a cpu upgrade or entirr new build
CPU upgrade, although I need a new PSU too.
No i have usb ports but i was wondering if i could connect it through usb c port too
Most portable hdd connects via usb not c
Ok thats fine
Just use the cable that comes with it.
Nice which 850?
Portable hdd always comes with a cable
Wdym 850?
Ur new psu? 850w
I built a new pc 5600 32 gig ram 850 psu and 6800xt
Nice.
Nice.
Chunkz gl with the psu and cpu upgrade. Try the ak series or something
Cheers, just one more thing i am looking to get myself a gaming pc for the first time, i have to say i dont really want to build it myself since i probaly will mess up but i have built a pretty decent one for a good price, would anyone be willing to just take a look at what i've made?
Sure 😃 and use pc part picker.
It will tell you if what you picked is compatible.
I have used that just to check what i could use just in case i'd like to build it myself instead of using prebuilts.
Building yourself is cheaper.
Hm yeah i hear that a lot, d
Could i still be able to show you what i've made
Sure, paste in the channel
Everyone can see it then.
Oh 😂
Yeah mate, just a link. The bot thinks you're spamming lol
Pc part picker has a link you can share, fyi
@next wigeon pc is what type of gaming 1080 to 4k or shooters high fps gaming
Nah its just for general use, gaming like a bit of sim racing, sports etc. Nothing serious.
Paying just below 2K for it
Its on another website i need to link the parts to pc part picker
Pc part picker has a short link to your build. Use that.
Make sure u use uk version of pcpartpicker

To power the PC, a kettle lead.
Dont the psu supply that?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Do need monitor keyboard and mouse
I already got peripherals
What i asked earlier about the power cable. When i brought my psu. It came with a power cable. Im in us. Do u need a different power cable than the one that the psu supplies in the uk?
7800x3d releases April 6th and 7900/7950x3d releases February 28th. 7800=450 7900=600 7950=700
I have to wait 2 months to build my pc now.
These are the new cpu chips lol
I didn't expect them to push the 7800 another month out lol
I just cant afford to spend more than 200 on a cpu if i didnt build my new pc late last year for new build @obtuse edge i had a budget of 1500usd
Gl with ur new pc build in march or april which gpu r using?
4070ti
It's my first pc and I'm trying to get a 4090.
Oh wow
Nice getting a oled or a 4k screen with that pc?
4k oled tv
Nice
I sound super snobby rn and I hate it. I never buy things for myself so for once I decided to pig out and just go all in.
Nice. All that i way outside my price range. I cant afford to spend like 5k on a pc build
I think I can get the pc under 3500 if I'm lucky I have most of the other parts. All I need now is the motherboard, cpu and gpu. Waited for some good sales for the other parts over black Friday and holiday.
Can anyone tell me If it would be a good idea to get a wifi booster/extender for my laptop and what difference would it make if i buy a netgear router instead.
No one could really tell you that because we don't know what affects the wifi where you are. We don't know the building layout, the other devices nearby, what other external factors could cause interference etc.
I'm also not asking for any of that info. Just saying that there's too many variables for anyone to give you an accurate answer.
Im on SKY broadband, would it be helpful to give you my internet speeds?
Yeah that is true but i'm just asking in general if my wifi is not that strong at the moment to get one.
I just told you I don't want any of that info.
Oh ok.
If your wifi is not strong, then extenders may help, but no one could say for sure.
The only way you could find out is to try.
Ok thank you.
I've had situations where they have helped and situations where they haven't made a difference, so we've no way to give you a definite answer.
If your WiFi signal isn't great, contact your ISP and they may send you some free extenders. I had that issue with virgin. Not sure if sky are the same.
It's worth contacting them instead of going out and paying for them.
But poor signal can vary like Rhinne said.
Ok thanks a lot guys, I will try and see if I can resolve it
Can you recommend a cheap controller for cloud gaming?
I recommend 8bitdo
I need a pc for $500 that can run vr
N64
That's it. Thanks
Works everytime
good luck with that. which parts do u have? and what games u want to play at vr specifically?
Dk any vr games specifically that i want to play besides pavlov and vr chat maybe
Half life alyx i heard was good
Hotdogs Horseshoes and Hand Grenades is another great VR game
Especially if you like lots and lots of guns
Yeah was thinking about that too
That game is really good. I can't recommend it enough
You get a LOT of content for the money
When i first heard of it i thought it said Hotdogs Horseshoes and Hand Genitals
Maybe its the mandela effect happening to me or something
Pretty sure it has 100+ guns
For me its like heaven because I love trying out all the weapons
No its not
It doesn't need much of a PC to run though so even a cheaper one will work with Oculus Link
Oh and you can add a ton of attachments to the guns too
probably need like 8 gigs of ram but i would shoot for 16. at least a 1060 or above.
psu depends on what gpu u want to get
Amount of RAM needed will also depend on if you use Windows 10 or 11
11 uses a bit more
plus anything higher end like hitman vr/ fallout 4 vr if u want to try though out or something
also depends if @amber venture wants built in wifi on the motherboard and ddr4 vs dd5 as well what kind of cpu
im sticking with win10 i heard there been issues with win10 i will upgrade in a few years or something
Windows 11 works completely fine. No real issues for me tbh.
I'm also on completely supported hardware though
So whats a good vr build
whats ur budget?
also do u need wifi included on ur motherboard and do u have a monitor keyboard and mouse
as well as the vr headset?
Anything under 1000, i have a old monitor, I have a keyboard but no mouse, and I have the vr
im guessing u want nividia right?
I mean I want it but i heard amd was cheaper
it is.
i built a 4k gaming pc for around 1500 or less
5600 cpu 32 gigs ram 850w psu, b550 board and 6800xt
do u need wifi or are using eternet
Wifi
do u want intel or amd cpu
Intel
cant help u with that im know only amd
Oh amd them
which gpu do u need?
Whats the opposite of a 3060
6600 sounds good
its better than non xt
its like the super or ti for nividia
powercolor 6600 cost 240 with 2 free games callisto protocol and dead island 2 amd freebie
Nice u got a link
500 psu should be good enough for the pc.
2x8 should be enough ram for the time being
No clue how to pick parts
do u want rgb ram if not cost around 40ish
Is that cheaper
yeah. rgb is just how colorful ram looks
Cheaper
RBG is not cheaper. If it is, I won’t trust it.
rgb ram all depends on how u want ur ram to look
thats a u choice not a me choice
Can i see the ram through the case?
yes. most cases has a see through side
@amber venture are u getting 13th gen cpu or lower
Is 13th gen the latest
i like gigabyte boards
@amber venture u need to do this research urself. I cant decide for u. go to pcpartpicker and do your make ur decision. u can send me ur list whenever and i give u my reviews on it
im about to head to bed in like 10 min anyways
also use this website to find out which psu is good https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
i just dont have the time rn
choose ur gpu then build around it. get ddr4 2x8gb 3200mhz ram. at least
make a build then wecould fixit later
i made my build and a few friends commented and helped me fix it up
K remind me later
might yet skip AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7000X3D series CPUs in favour of seeing out 3 years on the 5600X and going for Zen 5 or Meteor Lake (14th gen Intel) in 2024
So want to run the 5600x into the ground lol
just want to get the most out of the length of its warranty and that being 3 years will take me right up to December 2023, effectively January 2024 with how awkward shipping tends to be in December, as I found out last year lol
I hear ya
think I may also go 64GB (2x 32GB) with this upgrade. Sticking with 32GB feels lacking or something and with games beginning to recommend 32GB the next step up is of course 64GB
Is red read redemption 2 on series x only digital?
no
Its a xb1 title also physical
RDR2 is a title that was made for xbox one, and it's also available physical, it has yet to get any series version
Wait lemme check
Check what, the information needed is right here
I forgot to add the very important part, all xbox one titles run on series consoles
What
Developers may choose to build and release a newer version to take further advantage of new graphical features on Series consoles (this happened between 360 and Xbox One generations too)
@thorny cypress come quick dm. I want to show a pic of two games. I want to know if these are playable on series x
No, don't DM me
This also has nothing to do with pc
Pc?
You are in the PC channel
GTA has a series version, RDR2 doesn't. Simply put 😄
Can i play the gta 5 xbox one version on series x
Ok
No image perms lol.

can i connect a wireless xbox controller to my pc to play mk11? If so, do i have to disconnect it from my xbox, then hook it up via bluetooth on my computer?
Yes, you can sync it to your PC via bluetooth if you have a controller released after the One S.
Or you can buy the USB Xbox wireless receiver to connect it. That uses the same wireless protocol as the console rather than bluetooth.
will the xbox one work?
Again, as long as it's a controller released from the One S onwards.
When you have the controller connected to your PC, you can easily switch the sync between console and PC using this method - https://www.vg247.com/xbox-controller-double-tap-feature

well, for some reason mine is gone
the gamebar is the old layout now, even though its an insider version
I was deeply enjoying the steam shortcuts and the game shortcuts
Could do with some more MW 2 players to game with
Anyone experience frame hitches here and there on hifi rush? I lock it to 120 fps and it mostly stays there but randomly it'll dip to like 90 briefly and it's very jarring. It doesn't even necessarily happen during fights just random moments
Has like a momentary freeze

Hello
Does Detroit become human needs to be installed on ssd or hdd is fine.
HDD is fine.
Thanks. Rhinne. I was wondering cause games like horizon zero dawn god of war spiderman remastered all say sdd and detroit is a port of a ps4 era game i wasnt sure
I'd imagine everything can be installed on either as long as the space is there.
I'd install on the fastest storage though if space is limited then the slower one will do for a lot of older games
Most of my old games I keep on the HDD and newer ones with the SSD.
How do you enable mods on Xbox app?
You mean games bought through the Microsoft store or Xbox app?
If they are UWP titles the game files are not user accessible. For newer games they dropped this format so some will be accessible.
i have a problem
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/hmvrjZ thoughts on this build? 7950X price is set to what the 7950X3D costs (though it may be a little more yet) and as some will know I have already bought the GPU so set that as purchased (otherwise add around £1050 to the total price shown)
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower
The 3D version is out sometime this month still? I guess up to you if it's worth the wait. Can sometimes to be hard to get these on a release day.
yeah, February 28th and I was waiting on AMD to announce (and release) the Zen 4 3D CPUs. Though I didn't expect to see them also announce the 7900X3D and 7950X3D tbh. May still opt for the cheaper 7800X3D but that will mean waiting until April 6th for that
I think you said you already had a 5600x which is still pretty decent so I would probably wait as long as needed if it were me.
the 3d cache very good for mmo type games and high end downstreaming of textures et all
a 7800x3d should be good for the next 5 or so years bar any breakthroughs
that is also a fair point though I do want to move on up to 8 cores and that is my next upgrade plan for the CPU regardless, being at least 8 cores and technically 13700K, 13900K and the 7950X/X3D are all 8 cores when configured a certain way. 13700K and 13900K P cores top out at 8 cores with between 8-16 E cores and the 7950X/X3D is 16 cores split in two 8 core CCDs
I plan to use a program called process lasso to switch between CCD0 (5GHz + 3D cache) and CCD1 (5.7Ghz and no 3D cache) depending on how a game interacts with each CCD and even go as far as to disable SMT in games where it doesn't play nice in. AMD claims to have a solution but this would likely override their choice so it will involve some tweaking but this is all part of the fun with PC gaming, I can do this and potentially maximize performance 🙂
15900KS when I upgrade next 😄
thoughts? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xp8GTn
expensive 💀
Not really. Its only 3.3k. Thats cheap for a good pc.
heck no thats not cheap for a good PC, Last gen is still considered a good PC
That’s why pc part picker is a great site. Can watch and monitor prices. And easily check out when a part is on sale. Nothing says you have to buy it all right now.
i built a pc for around 1500 usd not counting monitor for a 4k gaming.
Only changes I'd do is going with a 13700K but that is somewhat optional. 13600K should be good enough for most games with it having 6 P cores (the other 8 are E cores) though there are some that benefit from even more cores (8 P cores) and the little extra frequency too, you might need a better cooler to go with that 13700K and I'd probably then pick a 1300W power supply
pcpartpicker's estimate shows 762W on that build as it was with the 13600K I like to multiply their estimate by 1.5x (which gives 1143W) and that extra headroom should account for things like transient power spikes and allow for future upgrades without too much hassle (hopefully). you also have over power protection with a lot of power supplies that will allow you to go over the rated Wattage on the label (by up to 30%, something like a 1200W power supply can handle up to 1560W with OPP) but I'd recommend against that, this would be a worst case scenario, hence the headroom I added

https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/atomic-heart-full-pc-specs-revealed.html Atomic Heart PC specs. Glad to see it is nothing over the top
you'll notice those are the non-rt specs
I noticed that, yeah. Though RT is not something I personally focus on with how hefty the performance loss tends to be. I'm still very happy with rasterization performance, especially if it means getting greater than 60 FPS where RT might not have allowed and I say that on a 7900 XTX at 4K. Once the time is right I'll look to RT more often but that time isn't quite yet
well you're running AMD so of course it's not going to be something you focus on
you don't exactly have a choice
Ambatakum
even if I had an Nvidia GPU ray tracing still wouldn't be something I focus on. Has nothing to do with being on AMD. Ray tracing just doesn't interest me in the slightest. Most of the games I have tried it in the differences are often not that big when compared to ultra settings yet as I mentioned in a previous message the cost of enabling ray tracing proves to be far too high. Even on Nvidia hardware, without the help of DLSS ray tracing is hardly worth using outside of maybe a 4090 and that is a very expensive GPU. At least 60% more expensive for only around 18% relative performance (vs a 7900 XTX)
Let's see, Dead Space, Metro, Cyberpunk, Hogwarts, Control, Minecraft...to name a few.
agreed. i rather go ultra settings without rt.
if you don't notice the difference in games with proper implementations then I can't say that's the RT's fault.
DF even recommended going with RT over performance on consoles due to how much of an impact it made
on consoles
most noticeable ray tracing tends to be reflections. I struggle past that tbh, things become subtle and when i see an RT combo takes off say 40 FPS I'm like "well that is something..." That 40 FPS reduction was the difference between a playable game and not so playable (Cyberpunk 2077). RT off I get between 60-70 FPS. RT On (no FSR) between 20-25 FPS
that's one RT setting
Ambient Occlusion
if you rely on SSAO you get halos and artefacting on areas with disocclusion
if RT Reflections only makes a mirror-like reflection then it's very cheap RT
as most materials are actually diffuse
the way you described your own knowledge of RT's it's basically surmounted to the current-gen equivalent of the 7th gen "God rays on/off" discussion when it came to lighting as a whole
those images above makes me think ambient occlusion was off (or of a low quality) with performance mode. I've seen similar results when going through graphics settings on the Spider-Man games and it showing in real time the differences between off, SSAO and HBAO
not my image but this is cyberpunk rt on vs rt off
Generally no.
generally high
the lowest I've seen DF figure AO on SX was in modes like that was medium but that was outlier.
ofc they're more custom settings in most cases, but generally align medium-ultra
subtle but literally one of the worst cases to use RT
the more mirrorlike the less effect it'll have
moistened concrete by neon signs usually works best
especially if a bunch of different objects of various materials are also around
the best implementations in most games that aren't complete rendering overhauls is usually the more subtle ones that aren't stand out. they by themselves are small, but a lot of small things add up to big effect
I'd probably have to find some comparison images on the PC version of Dead Space to see off up to RT on with the ambient occlusion thing. Also, I'd have thought a night scene would have brought ray tracing to life. Reflections, lighting, shadows and ambient occlusion and would have expected it to be a feast for the eyes, not something so subtle with a 72 FPS penalty lol
Shadows.....at night
on an open empty street

moxxi's nightclub's a good place for it unironically
well there is lighting and that is likely still to cast a shadow no?
I wonder when we'll see more of amds fsr 3 with that 2x 4k preformance increase.
I could care less about that. when are they going to improve their RT performance
FSR3 and DLSS3FG both increase input latency
almost looks to me as if the characters that can be seen lose their shadow/ambient occlusion detail with RT on vs RT off and surely the vehicles that can be seen would cast a shadow too from the lighting. They are distant but neither seem to do a good job of that
Honestly if I do use raytracing it'll more than likely just be for shadows. Could care less about reflections.
RT shadows are ok, but are as admittedly boring as RT Reflections are currently
thing is shadows don't seem that different. Softer maybe but it is a very subtle difference for something so heavy hitting on performance. Gimme a second to bring up Hogwarts Legacy comparisons. These are interactive ones too from techpowerup so will show even more what I mean between the subtlety and performance cost
there's nothing subtle about hogwarts' RT
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/hogwarts-legacy-benchmark-test-performance-analysis/4.html first one shows off the improved lighting very well, second one too but comparison 3 and 4 it becomes pretty subtle
TechPowerUp
Hogwarts Legacy lets you relive the steps of Harry Potter and is a fantastic adaptation of the books. In our performance review, we're taking a closer look at image quality, differences between the graphical setting presets, VRAM usage, and performance on a selection of modern graphics cards.
also, compare ultra + RT to ultra, that's what I did

these images
the game does not use RTGI
it's entirely art-driven
for these you want to use screenshots when raining and/or at night for the best effect other than to show off the sun's interaction as well as any diffuse inside. but for really showing off the rest of RT, it's primarily at night
2 reasons. hogwarts is lit by candles, and your player uses the lumos spell which emits light from the wand
dynamically affecting the shadows and AO
also showing off more materials than just cobblestone, dirt, and one hall of hogwarts
when each wing is primarily made of different materials
Dark Arts/Astronomy Tower for example
hmm so a lot of my thoughts on RT may be based on poor comparison examples? Might give RT another go then to see if I can spot some differences with what you said, That Lumos spell dynamically affecting shadows and ambient occlusion would certainly be cool, if it plays out like I'd imagine it to. Brb to try this out 🙂
RT off, need to restart to apply RT settings
RT On, ultra. Shadow definitely seems to be different, softer? but ouch to that performance hit once again :scream. I should have removed the performance metrics before doing this tbh 😄
got one better night + rain conditions out in the courtyard (similar to comparison 3 from techpowerup)
ultra + RT off
ultra + all RT on (and set to ultra too)
Only major difference I see is the stones shadow that the lights are on
yeah, maybe that one wasn't as good as I had hoped it was going to be. All I see are softer shadows again. Going to try one more time with Dark's suggestion above
Yeah. Somewhere with more reflective surfaces like dark said with the armor would probably be really good.
exterior shadows are not going to be as stark as interior/wand-lit
go to the DatDA tower
or the trophy room
That preparing shaders thing on every start up of the game is becoming very annoying lol
hmm lets see how this works, uploading both images at the same time
thing is in this order I done RT first so won't that be the first image?
the one with sharper shadows and a multi-colored window?
that's displaying as the second image for me
whichever that is for you is RT
gg discord. let me restart
lmao
that fixed it
yeah. your first one
fuller shadows, richer penumbra, calculating the multiple light sources on different angles, scattering on diffuse

Minty
tbh I thought the sharper shadows would have been a non RT thing with RT having a mix, depending on how the light interacts with objects but I finally see some difference though it is still pretty minimal considering the performance hit. Dashes framerate in half, if not a little worse than half
you have a harsh point-light
if you take a bright flashlight and stand a few feet away from something it's going to be a harsh shadow
Was gonna say it acts realistically
vs if you're much further
"blurrier" shadows are only for lights far away
which is why whenever you see shadows of tree's branches and leaves
they're usually blurrier since they have a great height above the ground from where the light hits them to cast the shadow to
some leaves also scatter light through them diffusing it into a glow
so much to take in but thanks, Dark. Still not convinced about ray tracing though 😦
question. can you tell what's what in this
Can you choose between each of the rt settings like reflections, shadows and lighting? What the difference in fps if you just wanted select ones and not all of them if so.
even without performance metrics being displayed like I had in my first set of screenshots I'd be able to tell ultra + no RT vs ultra + RT just based off how sluggish most games will become. Only way you could fool me somewhat would be using DLSS, FSR or XeSS but that might not completely fool me as I'd notice some loss in image quality from the upscaling
see, reflections are one of the weakest elements of RT
Refractions are where it's at
Caustics and diffusions
I totally understand. I just like first person shooters or rpgs like skyrim n such. So to me I feel like reflections would be something I'd turn off most of the time but shadows and maybe lighting I'd keep for interiors and areas like that.
those are polar opposites
you'd not want RT on in competitive shooters if you're sacrificing frames in any normal range
single player games? RT is a big no brainer if you're able to get 60
I'm not sure I'd be able to tell what's what from that image tbh. Though I'm guessing the refractions would be the gold or fire coming off the armour and window like thing? the shadows though comparing the two images side by side look pretty similar
Yeah nonono for multiplayer shooters I'd turn off all rt easy. I meant more like first person rpgs or game campaigns if they're allowed
Curious to see how the shadows will look in halo infinite multiplayer. That'll come with season 3 in a couple weeks.
Did they say if it was just multiplayer or campaign too?
game settings run both. it should be in both
Definitely wanna see of much of a hit it'll be too preformance
I can't say I wasn't hoping it would have been GI, along with a good few others
if it is one RT setting usually the hit is small but stack them together (best visually, otherwise performance killer) and the hit gets larger as they work off one another in some instances, where it allows
I'll be giving Halo Infinite another go too and never know, around the time that update launches I may have upgraded my PC some more. Still uncertain about some stuff but I got another 17 days or so of thinking ahead yet so plenty of time
Still trying to get my final 3 parts of my pc. The gpu motherboard and cpu lol. Might buy 1 more fan aswell for the cpu cooler.
ouch, two of those components are easily the most expensive components. CPU and GPU. If I was to guess the cost of those two parts alone is more than the rest of your build? works out that way with mine, even as the system is just now. 5600X + 7900 XTX (£1350 combined) rest of system (£775~)
Thus far I've gotten great deals on everything else. Overall if my math is right I can build a 4090 system under 3500. (Including tax)
do you need a 3090 or a 7900xt for 4k60 gaming in hogwarts? have only 5600 and 6800xt and 32 gigs
for 4K ultra the VRAM requirement effectively makes a 3080 obsolete as it requires more than 10GB (might even make 12GB cards obsolete too!) but a 6800 XT would be fine on the VRAM side with 16GB though I'm not sure how well it will perform, doubt you'd be getting 4K 60 FPS out of the 6800 XT at ultra. As for the 3090 or 7900 XT the latter will probably perform better but might not maintain 60 FPS. 32GB RAM is fine as Hogwarts Legacy will use more than 16GB
thanks. though i will wait til it goes on sale
I need a new Asian MMORPG
a couple of ray tracing related tweaks for Hogwarts Legacy (from PCGamingWiki) when we were on the subject of the game just a couple of days ago. Tempted to try them but won't they further reduce performance? Crazy that reflections are only at 33% resolution, which I think also applies to ultra settings
omg... 21GB VRAM usage 😱
but it looks good
Then my 6800xt wont cut it at 4k. I probably get it for series x then but not anytine soon
this was with those two tweaks and one other I found on the Hogwarts Legacy PCGamingWiki page. An extreme case really. I strongly prefer gaming without RT enabled, though as I have found out the other tweak I done the game seems to have no trouble passing 16GB VRAM though I do wonder if following what it says will limit things some more, as in users on a 16GB card (or less won't see the same amount of VRAM in use)
this is the other tweak btw
me being me added 12288 seeing as that is half of 24GB 😄
Hmm wonder how well midrange GPUs handle it. I imagine 1440p might be a struggle with everything on at 1440p on an 8GB card.
going by techpowerup's performance analysis Hogwarts Legacy passes 8GB easily even at 1080p and ultra settings but the tweak above might be able to reduce that and make it more playable. I can't test that as I have a 24GB card
Yeah not surprising honestly. 3070 will probably fall behind the consoles on this one. I’ll take a look at that article later on.
thoughts? Im keeping the 4090. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/37CJ3y
I would go 1000 psu just to be safe and a 4k monitor cause the 4090 is basically a 4k gaming card
I was gonna buy a 4k monitor later on. My plan is to have 2 monitors,a 4k 144hz monitor and a 1440p 240hz monitor. The 4k monitor is for more intensive games, like warzone, battlefield, spiderman, gta, forza, etc. and the 1440p monitor is for less intensive games like fortnite and apex.
gonna need help in couple months time. but I figured out some things needed for my daughter who goes into game design at college this year.
dont know many details other than they use Unreal Engine 4 and maybe updating to 5. so yeah
Are you planning on buying her a PC?
yes gonna build it myself
Okay. Just a quick warning, prices change a lot within months.
starts september so got afew months to figure things out
Future planning on buying a PC is useless when youre thinking about the price. The build can go up a few hundred in just a couple months. Its totally fine to get the right parts now, just beware of the price change.
anything with the new 40 series and amd 7000 series gpus prices probably wont change anytime soon
My build went up $80+ overnight.
for game design i would go nividia 3070 or up
What else will she use the PC for?
ddr4 or ddr5 build?
not muchelse some gaming but we got consoles anyway
Rumbly is right then, just go with a 3070 or up.
whats your budget?
I am in UK, so I was going around 1,200. havent built a PC in a long time so many options these days
she only just starting out wont need to go that crazy, plus I can upgrade later if needed
what u think ddr4?
i would go ddr4 with like 32 gigs of 3200mhz ram in 2x16gb dual channel
2tb m.2 nvme at pcie 3.0x4
whats the best white 1000w psu?
did u check on the psu tier list
@gray berry if she needs more storage then buy a hdd or something. does she care of the looks of the ram or the looks of the case?
ah we got most of that sorted already. RGB as usual
so u going with 850w psu?
yeah
theres too many.
make sure that the psu and gpu actually fits in the case and the cooler doesnt get in the way of the ram
i really dont know any white 1000w psu since i probably wont see it again after i put in the case what would i care how it looks like
did u choose ur gpu or cpu yet?
not yet still having a look now. only really started looking last week
building a PC for myself also after I done this one
on amazon uk site i see some 3070ti under 700
i just built my 4k gaming pc for under 1500 usd i went amd since its cheaper
i would go intel cpu for game design
yeah
@gray berry use this site https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/
I am lol
right now ddr4 vs ddr5 is basically the same. ddr5 is new and may cost more-motherboard and ddr5 ram.
most people like the g36a case
Goodness. Visual Studio just grab 8GB of RAM to compile something.
It need'th the ram
not sure if a 13600K will be a good suggestion for this use case. I know a bunch on gaming but not so much when working on a game engine though Unreal Engine 4/5 tends to favour Nvidia GPUs on the game end so definitely something to keep in mind (which will also result in the system costing more since Intel/Nvidia so be prepared for that
@smoky flame im picking out an ssd is a WD black ssd with 7300mb/s read and 6300mb/s write speed good? it codts 130 canadian dollars
what is the size? and its it portable or internal
That’s really good
should be a good choice, what CPU you got? I learnt some stuff on SSDs last night that was pretty interesting and while I say I was learning some of it sure confused me, a lot 😄
I5 10400f with rtx 3070 js good for future proofing and getting high fps at any game at 1080p ultra settings
Or a rx 6700xt
internal ssd nvme m.4
i can send you the link if u want to look
ryzen 7 5700X
Gen 3 or 4? For nvme gen 3 and gen4 concerning there pcie capability gen 4 is much faster but u really cant tell the difference except in load times in gaming. Im assuming u talking about the m.2 ssd
should be good then. Though I used to think seeing really high read and write speeds was the be all and end all with these SSDs. Faster their speeds the better sort of thing but what I was told sure opened my eyes. There are gen 3 SSDs that can outperform gen 4 SSDs and apparently something as powerful as a 13900K at 6GHz will be met with a bottleneck at around 14.5GB/s which means there comes a point at gen 5 where that super expensive SSD may not be able to perform to full expectations. One other thing I was told is that gen 3 SSDs can be saturated by real workloads but gen 4 and 5 is unlikely to be. It was a lot to take in, especially so late at night when talking about it elsewhere
Overall ssd gen 4 is faster than gen 3 by like 2 to 4 thousand in speed. But in gaming u could barely tell the difference except in load times. Plus is there a gen 5 out yet
not yet for the consumer market afaik but they do exist and they come in at at least 10GB/s and I believe gen 5 tops out at 16GB/s. Tends to be double that of last gen or pretty close to
Gen 4 tops at what almost 8k
@smoky flame what i said about people who uses m.2 ssd in gaming cant tell the diff except in load times
I got a 2tb sk hynix p41 plat for my main ssd drive gen 4. I got another ssd drive though only output on gen 3
Because games still are using the old API and not direct storage besides 1 game so far. Idk how long it will take for that to change.
most games I don't think are built to run at M.2 NVMe SSD speeds and that is why something like DirectStorage was developed to handle that as game worlds are said to become larger and more detailed and may soon make even SATA SSDs struggle to load them in at a fst enough speed. Has been shown off in Forspoken where the load times on these faster SSDs is down at 0.5-2 seconds or so and I believe the SATA SSD was coming in at 5-10 seconds. Though this is only really the start, so will be interesting to see other games take it on and show what it can do
could be a day where SATA SSDs take 30+ seconds to load what used to take maybe 3-4 seconds for a game while these gen 3-5 M.2 SSDs are the ones doing that (or faster still) but weirdly from testing so far it seems gen 3 and gen 4 show very little difference in load times in Forspoken, which once again has me think back to what I said about gen 3 being saturated but perhaps gen 4 isn't. Really hope it isn't long before we see more DirectStorage games and this time ones with v1.1 supported out the box
gen 4
Yeah should be interesting to see more comparisons when they are available for new games. Assuming once a game is optimised it can make use of gen 4 drives properly.
Not sure if those games that make use of fast storage like Ratchet and clank on PS5 would even work on a gen 3 drive if they ported it to PC
it would still run but perhaps load slower than if the game was installed on a gen 4 SSD so that might be one proper use where we see the faster SSDs come in to action, though that would be very specific and I doubt every game, at least for some time would work in such a way and even there there may come a point where the CPU simply isn't fast enough to keep up with these SSDs and their read/write speeds
Maybe, based on playing Ratchet and clank though it doesn't put you in a loading screen but throws you into a new level while in gameplay. They would have to find a way around that on slower drives.
Is it a 1 tb? I paid 170 plus tax for my 2tb gen 4 m.2 ssd though i got it during black friday sale send me the link
770 2tb cost 180 from same site. Its not as fast as the sn850x
Need a little support:
My friend has bought PC Game Pass, which should include both Java & Bedrock editions of Minecraft, but it isn't available.
Is there a delay to this, or is something wrong?
Did ur friend have xbox app on pc updated to latest version and try restarting the pc. Also verify if he or she has pc game pass
I'll let them know to check these, thanks
Anyone know if pc game pass option will come back to Microsoft rewards
is Crucial a good brand for sata SSD?
For high speed ssd i would go wd or sk hynix
New amd drivers released optimizations sounds like either 7000 gpus and 6950xt and nothing under from driver details
mx 500 is nice thats about it
can someone help me? The xbox app doesn't show any of the games I've installed
well, it does show for honor, for some odd reason
well, it shows all of my ea games
not any games from xbox though...
Can anyone suggest to me a good gaming laptop for me. I'm looking to buy a new laptop (I'd rather not get a desktop under the circumstances). All I need is for it to have ray tracing and the capability to play games from this year or last. I particularly was looking at Halo: Infinite's minimum as a goal.
if you want RT I'd suggest avoiding laptops
currentl laptop market is not in a good spot right now
Is a laptop with a rtx 3050 good
Probably ok in newer games when turning some of the settings down. Check out some youtube benchmarks.
Depends on the other specs, but I have a laptop with 3050 and intel 12400k or whatever the name was with 16gb ram, it's meh honestly because it's laptop spec but it works when as said above settings are turned down
can anyone help me in #233805809346150400 its to do with pc xbox app
anyone know why games on pc game pass arent updating???
ark specifically
nvm it was just being slow

Anyone plays Halo Infinite? How can I change my weapons in Team Doubles?
Picking one up.
Loadout*
My fault I used the wrong word
U mean dmr
yes
I'd spend a bit of time in the academy so you get familiarized with the weapons.
DMR is not in Infinite currently.
the Bandit Rifle is slated for season 3, which is a permutation of the DMR
okay ty. I just played Team Doubles so far
performed quite good (if 20kills and 6 deaths is good)
how do I drop a flag?

My mouse keeps disconnecting
like it is stuttering and making that sound when something disconnedct
well thats odd
I think I'm reluctant to download anything on Game Pass that runs off of the Unisoft launcher as I tried to download Crackdown 3 and it literally almost killed my computer as it almost broke part of my external hard drive by changing its mind on where it was getting downloaded halfway through the download. I really want to punch the guy that set up Ubisoft launcher.
crackdown 3 needs ubisoft launcher?
I am pretty sure I Ubisoft is responsible since the last game I had this issue with was also a Ubisoft game.
Not 100% sure but it did open the launcher when I tried to download the game.
But maybe that isn't how it works for everyone. I don't know a huge deal about this stuff. But it does seem weird that I have only had this issue with Ubisoft games.
i remember trying crackdown 3 like a year or so ago and not liking it but i dont remember it needing Uplay
Did you have Uplay at the time?
yea, ive always had uplay installed
could also just be the xbox app, i know a lot of people complain about it
Maybe it's just to do with how the Ubisoft games were put on the launcher?
Last week i couldnt install anything it kept saying gaming services not installed or something and it would make me download something but nothing happened
Atomic Heart on Gamepass looks interesting i pre installed it think it comes out tuesday
I've only had the issue with Ubisoft games. Maybe it's to do with there being multiple downloads packed together as it installs the campaign and multiplayer separately in the same download and they are split up on the launcher.
Now I think about it the other game I believe was also split up like that so maybe that's the issue. I'll do a bit more digging and get back to you if I find anything.
crazy how many launchers we need just to play on PC 💀
u forgot riot and gog
true, ive never had gog installed i dont think. everytime i played Cyberpunk it would ask me to install it
also crackdown series is developed by microsoft @ruby heath
they had that gog galaxy crap
i guess the other guy saying hes having issues with crackdown installing because Uplay its the xbox app
i just finished the campaign on Guardians Of The Galaxy
surprising i was getting 100 FPS average with raytracing on high with a AMD GPU
i still have that installed on my pc. Its on my backlog
at 4k or 1440p? with what 6800xt?
it was on 1080p and yea a 6800XT
i just upgraded the amd drivers a few days ago
cyberpunk at fsr perf at 4k no ray tracing boosted from 60 to 70ish
i did a benchmark
valentine's day update lol
Im just waiting for the next update for optimizing for last of us part I
@ruby heath whenever starfield drops im buying them outright on steam
idk anything about that game other than its highly anticipated
think fallout style combat meets scifi something
dang i feel like games like that always have bad performance on most hardware
I just checked it and, yes, Crackdown 3 is not a Ubisoft game which just leaves me with more questions like why did Uplay start up after I started the download? In fairness though Uplay has pulled stunts like this before where it starts up for no reason or starts updating at random with no explanation at all.
lol
You think it's funny trying to tag 100K people?
i was testing it lol
and yeah lol
Here's a hint: In public servers, it's a bad idea to try it 😛
uh huh...
I have no idea if this is the place to ask, but what is the best aim assist for modern warfare 2 ? I keep looking in youtube and google, but they say the most random stuff like "dynamic" and stuff.
practise is the best aim assist
wise man...
its better than resorting to aim assist clients so you seem better than others

Hi so I have my Xbox contoller with me but if I plug it into my PC via USB, nothing happens, Ive tried diffrent cables and USB ports but no luck. If i plug in batteries it works somehow. Does anyone know what to do bc I want to play Asseto Corsa with it.

Depends on what games u want to play what resolution/framerate and what tasks r u gonna use laptop for other than gaming
I would play and cod

I game on pc. If u could afford it build a pc.
@brave gulch i say it for any future upgrades cant upgrade fps/resolution on laptops.
@dusky wave ok
Also, if either the CPU or GPU dies on a laptop... you're out the entire device.

do aio coolers preform better than air coolers?
Depends on what u using it for? For a 5600 cpu aio is overkill
i have a ryzen 7 5700X and im planning to get a 280mm aio
Tdp is 65w. U could get away with a air cooler. If u have a high end amd or intel cpu that has 150 to 300watts then get aio. Recommended aio is for 5800x and higher

Should i get resident evil 4 on pc or series x i got a 6800xt 5600 cpu not x and 32 gig ram. Monitor is 4k144hz hdmi 2.1
Do you want xbox achievements or don’t care?
Dunno. Im already at 550k plus gs. Dont really all that much but if its not really difficult then fine. Did they release achievement/trophy list yet?
Relax. We still aren't playing the exclusivity game.

funny posted an update now in general
4 days until AMD's Zen 4 with 3D Cache CPUs release! (7900X3D and 7950X3D anyway, April 6th for the 7800X3D)
So u getting the x3d chip?
not 100% sure but definitely waiting on them and seeing how they are in the hands of regular users. Got a feeling I will want to wait for April 6th though. Early word on them is the 7950X3D is 6% faster than a 13900K and 16% faster than the 7950X. Though there are motherboard BIOS and a chipset update coming soon that may even increase that some more (depending on reviewer's conditions and whether they use said updates or not)
@smoky flame i know resident evil 4 remake isnt ur style of game. Should i get it for pc or series x.
up to you really but I'd go for the PC version. If it comes with all the features RE8 had, RE4 should run pretty well
Recommend specs need only a ryzen 3600 16 gig ram and 5700
RE8 was a stuttering mess for a few months on PC before it got patched. I’m not risking that again
kinda wish someone can play skate 3 with me
Wrong channel go to #587074461770186765

I’ll put everything on hold for RE4. Looking forward to that game the most this year

Stupid question which I want to confirm. I have a PC case where I have no screws and no where to put an SSD or HDD. Am I fine (will it blow up?) in putting it on the bottom of the case's metal thingy bit?
I have an M2 SSD installed and using that. But wanted to put in a HDD/SSD but there's literally no space.
There's space at the bottom of the case, it's on metal though kinda. And I don't want to blow up. I have enough SATA leads too.
I'd have to search for my case.
This is my case.
When i built my pc i had more than enough screws for both a m.2 drive and a 6tb hdd.
Yeah, I don't though. This PC has not been used for quite a while...
it should be fine but it isn't recommend have you checked the back though because a lot of cases have mounts in the back for a SSD or HDD. You can also purchase a mount if it doesn't already have one.
The first SSD I used was back in 2010 and then cases didn’t even have 2.5 mounting usually so I just taped them in and never had any issue lol. I’d be surprised if this case doesn’t have any 2.5 inch mounts though
True. Most cases have the 2.5/3.5 mounts at least nowadays
It does have mounts. But I don't have any screws.
The case usually comes with some screws or the SSDs themselves sometimes do
I’m surprised if it didn’t have any but I suppose you could get some from Amazon
If you have some electric tape you can also use that if you want. Obviously less ideal solution but works
It probably did come with screws, but this was purchased years ago and I've moved since hence the not having any. 😄
I put the SSD/HDD at the bottom of the case.
I couldn't see any mounts (even though I don't have screws...) but I do have an M2 SSD installed. But it's only 120GB (I have a spare 250GB) I have no idea how to undo the 120GB one though.
It's a special tool that I also don't have.
my xbox controller is connected via Wireless controller adapter but it keeps disconnecting then reconnecting but my pc doesnt say it is

I plan to almost rebuild my system so new cooler, case etc. Only other components following from my old build are the GPU and power supply I recently bought
Does the new cpu get as hot as some of the high end intel chips?
is said to hit their temperature limit (89c) but only under certain loads. Luckily gaming doesn't appear to be one
That sounds more on professional like 3d modeling and stuff like that
Going aio cooler?
no, sticking with air cooling
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-9-7950x3d/26.html temperatures reported from one reviewer
TechPowerUp
The Ryzen 9 7950X3D is the spearhead of the AMD Zen 4 X3D lineup. In our performance review we test AMD's new 16-core flagship with dozens of applications and 14 games at up to 4K, to see whether AMD can take the performance crown from Intel, how power consumption is affected, and what can be expected from overclocking.
I think they both get equally quite hot from what I’ve seen In these reviews. 13900K gets to 100c under load with video rendering and benchmarks.
that is pretty scary though this was with an air cooler, Noctua NH-U14S. Idk about the conditions for the other reviewers but I'm going for something larger that should hopefully handle it pretty well and I may have another trick up the sleeve to play too
I find now with energy costs rising that I cap the FPS in games which can reduce costs by quite a bit for these things if that is also a concern but I suppose you also want to get the most out of it as well for how much the chip costs.
Hi guys does anyone have one of theses or know if there good ACER Nitro N50-640 Gaming PC - Intel® Core™ i5, RTX 3060, 1 TB HDD & 256 GB SSD
Which i5 and is this a prebuilt plus what ram psu and cooler does it have
I pretty much decided on the parts I'm getting for my new PC
i7-12700K CPU, Gigabyte Z790 mobo, Asus RTX 3060 GPU
just out of curiosity but why not go for the 13700K since you are getting a Z790 motherboard? I know it supports both 12th and 13th gen (as does Z690)
how much more is it over the 12700K
hmm, it's about $140 more
Part List - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, Lian Li Lancool II Mesh C RGB ATX Mid Tower
U have a nitro like this ?
looks like I got some waiting to do but that's alright. Gives me some extra time to finalize the rest of the build and some other stuff. Just glad to soon be able to own one. 7950X3D + 7900 XTX will be a beast of a PC. Easily the most powerful (and expensive) system I have owned but super excited once again!
It'll be like Christmas all over again for you 😄 lol
pretty much! 😄 https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/tPF7Ls this is what I got configured so far. Really happy to have taken out the most expensive things from the build though seeing the cost of this thing scares me somewhat. It's double what I used to target 😱
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design Torrent ATX Mid Tower
So it will cost u around 3200 after tax
Thats the cost including VAT
That's one hell of a beast!
Thats probably me like in 2030
I've been having an issue (think I fixed it now) I have a really old RX 580 8GB and paired with a 3200G. It doesn't get massive FPS in games but with Call Of Duty, I'd install Windows10 and after a day I'd get insane lag. Thought maybe a Windows thing. So, reinstalled Windows10 and Windows11 and still the same. Went to my friend Google and found a thing about changing the render count. AND I WAS SHOCKED IT WORKED. No more lag. And I get around 80FPS. Both Vanguard and MW2 both run flawlessly now. So chuffed with myself. ❤️ 😄
Did u update the drivers?
Yes. With everything else updated too.
I was on a 560 2gb before i built my new pc with a 6800xt
Nice.
I couldn't afford a 6800XT. I can barely have the heating on. lol
That sucks but its life
Yep.
U always have tax refunds coming in i suppose
Not when I don't work, no.
humble bundle has a new bundle with gotham knights in it for $30
"Pay at least £24.92 for these 72 items" WOW!!!!
More interested in ghostwire toyko
Me in 2050
I used them before. Brough pc steam bundles
Do these codes expire? The one's from Humble Bundle?
Dunno. Just activate them on steam
I redeemed the games I liked the look of (over 5, less than 10) so there's still quite a few to redeem.
Thought there were 72

Part List - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, NZXT H510i ATX Mid Tower
updated list
is any of this system bought or working on it? I'd look at increasing the RAM speed and lowering the timing and I'm not sure 64GB capacity is needed as yet, unless this rig happens to be for more than gaming. With the SSDs I really feel 2x 2TB + a 250GB is a bit excessive. Are you sure you couldn't drop that to 1x 2TB? Both suggestions alone could save a lot of money that could then be distributed back across that build to go for higher end components (if you wanted)
agreed about the ssds maybe stick with a 980 2tb and get a 6 tb hdd
32 gig ram should be good for now
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Xqr3Tn something like this. Made a few minor changes but saved you over $250. Only component I'd maybe still look to change is the power supply, perhaps fully modular and gold as it will make building the system just a little easier (only need to add the cables you will use so less cable management hassle) and the system just that bit more efficient
Part List - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, NZXT H510i ATX Mid Tower
I wanted to have a separate SSD for Windows, is that not a good idea?
also, why is the mobo you listed more expensive than the one I listed
I don't see a reason to do it with M.2 storage tbh and I just felt you probably don't need all those M.2's Depending on cost of 4TB you could even get that, if you really want more than 2TB.
Motherboard I added supports wifi 6 (AX). If you happen to use wifi and the equipment you use supports wifi 6 then it will support higher download speeds than what you would have got on the wifi 5 (AC) version. If you don't use wifi then never mind that change
yeah, I plan on connecting it directly with an ethernet
I got a ghost ping...
F
@exotic jacinth (apologies for the ping) https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/qKj3Tn this is what I am building. Not quite finalized, hope to have my mind made up real soon though. 😅 Got some time until stock of the CPU arrives so using that time to make any last minute adjustments
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO ATX Mid Tower
Ok nice, no problem I have the bell role
DDR5 memory prices seem to be a bit lower now compared to when I last looked. getting closer to parallel prices with DDR4
yeah, I'm pretty happy with that. No more paying £200+ on these kits, unless you happen to be looking for either a 64GB kit and/or high frequency and lower timings. Those can still run up the cost quite a bit and very easily too haha 😄
Is the ddr 5 vs ddr4 still have any more perf for ddr5 over ddr4 atm
So, I know someone selling a 2600X. I can get it for cheap. I was thinking of getting it to use with an RX 580 8GB. Am I stupid?
I'd have 2 gaming PC's then. a 5600 and a 3060. And a 2600X and a 580.
This is nice, settled myself for what cooler to get for my PC. Cheap but good. Be quiet! Pure Rock 2
Nice product name for a fan company 😄
I think I went with Cooler Master because I knew it would fit in the case.
Big games like High on Life are not supported on VMs unless they're on cloud streaming
Thoughts?
Depends what games you want to play, 2600 will likely struggle in CPU heavy games these days.
I guess it’s fairly balanced with a 580 though
4 games and a few game pass games. COD: Vanguard. COD: MW2 2022. Gotham Knights and Fortnite. And whatever releases on game pass that isn't too difficult to run. 🙂
Dont expect high fps
If u dont mind me asking why do u need 2 gaming pcs
I won't. Steady 30/60 FPS is fine.
60 probably not
Well, money is tight and my nephew could do with an upgrade. He doesn't know but I'll gift it to him for his birthday in April.
I wouldnt want to play cod anything less than 60 or 144hz but that just me as a gamer and if u could afford it
I'll run some tests but atm, this 3200G is what's bottlenecking. The GPU is performing quite well. 🙂
I wouldnt use the igpu 3200g to game.
I'm not...... lol
I'm using an MSI RX 580 8GB Armour GPU with the 3200G. The 3200G is what is causing a "bottleneck" so to say.
Once I get the 2600X, it'll be a nice upgrade. ❤️
What CPU you got? I could do with a new cooler.
Ryzen 5 5600X
Very nice!
Figured this cooler wasn’t too bulky, but not bad
What's it retail at?
Like $40 maybe
I heard good about it
Thank you.
I haven't had much luck with stock coolers. 😦
My stock one has been fine
Did u got a 40 series gpu as well?
I wish
Just built a new pc couldnt afford a 40 series including new psu maybe. I probably upgrade in 2030 to 80 to 100 series gpu
I have a 1060, I would be fine with 2000 series even
Nice. I have 6800xt
Update: Added a 550W PSU.
hmm you got two CPUs ordered there I can see
Why 2 cpus if u building 1 pc
Yep. replacing an old Ryzen 3600 and a Ryzen 3200G. The 5600X is for my main rig and the 5600 is for my nephew's rig.
I was going to replace the 3200G with a 2600X but the 5600 was only £128.
My wireless dongle and bluetooth dongle delivered! Now I can use my Elite Series 2. 😄
Enjoy
can someone tell me if an oled monitor is worth it?
Depending if u have a budget. Those cost like at least 1k min
I cant afford to spend more on my monitor which will cost more than my entire pc build lol @full flint
ok just wondering
My momitor is a 4k144hz monitor i cant afford a oled monitor at this time
that still really good
Cost me like 600usd
I just got gotham knights on pc. Game kept crashing or regular menus not playing game yet. Have ryzen 5 5600 32 gig ram and 6800xt
I've seen people dropping below 30fps on a 3090 in that game. Think it's just broke.
Sorry forgot to turn off ping
Ui
Did you buy the Humble Bundle too?
Well, According to eBuyer..... my CPU coolers are coming Monday instead of next Friday. So, I should have all parts ready to build Monday/Tuesday!! 😄
I'm kinda excited to see how the 5600X performs tbh.
Yep. I had to wait a bit to redeem all of them on steam.
Probably around what my 5600 does its just not noticeable
Im playing at 4k should i lower it to 1440 or 1080p
5600X is a great little CPU. Just be sure to enable resizeable bar so you can make use of smart access memory (SAM, if you have a supported AMD GPU*)
*Radeon RX 5000 series or newer
I'm not sure, maybe open up MSI afterburner and check your usage. 1440p probably better for 6800xt
I have an RX 580, that'll work, right?
Dont have afterburner.
Nope. U could pbo the cpu though
Rx580 is a rx500 series not 5000. Im talking about rx 5600 5700 not 580
Stupid AMD and their naming...
I pbo my cpu and xmp the ram @simple terrace
I have no idea what "pbo" is...
Its cpu overclock
What does pbo stand for?
No...
Which ram are u getting? 3200mhz or 3600mhz
3200MHZ.
Amd 5000 cpus work better with 36000mhz ram
I'm using 2133 atm lol
Basically ur ram that u getting is defaulted to 2888 or 2133mhz. U need to xmp the ram so it will run at 3200mhz
Its in the bios
No clue what xmp is... Guess I need to research.
Its pretty much very simple
As ur probably going to xmp the ram might as well do the same for the cpu
Ordering 2 of these: Crucial BX500 480GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - Up to 540MB/s - CT480BX500SSD1
1 for the OS, and 1 for games.
Why dont u use an m.2
I have an M2 already.
Then why arent u using that as the boot drive?
Because it's only 120GB, I need to upgrade it!
There are a bunch of 1tb m.2 for under 100usd.
As to transfer os from main to 1tb havent got a clue
I have a 2tb m.2 drive both os and games specially ones that need ssd. A 6tb hdd movies tv shows and games that are old and dont need the ssd

Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 580, Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower
That's the build.
Did the ram ship yet?
The GPU is £519.99 on Amazon UK. 🤣
PBO isn't really worth using as it will make the CPU run hotter with even AIO coolers known to have little to no effect on keeping the temperature below 80c as for XMP (eXtended Memory Profile), that is more Intel's terminology for the feature I believe with AMD it was called DOCP (don't ask me what that stands for, lol) but both XMP and DOCP work in the same way and should be compatible with one another, in the event you pick up some ram that supports XMP but no mention of DOCP
I also might not have enough space for the 120GB but that's no big deal.
I pbo my 5600 and xmp or amd version my 3600mhz 32 gb ram
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/xbFfW4 That's it, finalised. I forgot to add the M2 SSD.
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 580, Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower
@smoky flame Thoughts on it? I know it's not as good as yours! 😄 😄
I would just get the 1tb m.2 drive it will be faster than the other ssds
I keep my 5600X stock and use the 3600MHz profile and it all works good. You get like 99% of the performance even without PBO being enabled. Only time PBO will really come into it realm is programs that demand the use of all the cores (a multicore load) and PBO effectively allows for more headroom as you tell the CPU it is ok to go beyond the stock limits and it will go as fast as it can, until it reaches what will likely be a thermal limitation before anything else
So i should turn off then
that is what I been trying to say. Stock runs great itself
@simple terrace do u even have room for all those ssds?
what is the use of the 120GB one?
That's the one I won't/probably won't be using. It's just spare. I have enough room for 4.
So, the 2x 500GB sata SSD's, the M2 drive and my 3TB HDD.
I'll make room. Atm my HDD/SSD is on the bottom of the case. lol
looks good though not a fan of so many SATA devices. I ditched SATA storage back in 2020 😄
Not in it's place properly lol
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 580, Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower
I thought sata drives are just a bit slower than the m2 drives
SSDs are anything between 8-20x slower, HDD even worse (than M.2 NVMe SSDs)
