Old-school RPGs generally don't sell very well nowadays as they aren't what the majority (aka people who play games casually and just want to beat stuff with a sword or shoot things) want anymore.

Honestly, it suffers from a heavy dose of "dull and uninspired". Yet another game made solely for a paycheck and no other reason, hence why it flopped so hard. It had no love. No life. Nothing.

Repetitive gameplay, repetitive enemies, repetitive environments, it uses a live model (games as a service), a boring grind for gear you can't even see on your character, only 3 of the 7 bosses are actually Marvel villains (and the fights aren't even good to begin with)...

I mean, honestly, the fact that they made the god damn Hulk boring to play should tell you everything you need to know. However, all that matters is whether or not you personally enjoy the game. If you like it, play it.

...Why must the loot you get in-game affect gameplay? In a game about grinding for loot? You might have a misunderstanding about how these types of games work, here. You get better equipment to take on tougher and tougher levels and enemies. That's how it works. There's no opinion here.

And no, I can't ignore lootboxes. They're the worst thing to ever happen to the gaming industry, and one of the reasons we get such mediocre games nowadays. They release a subpar game, finance it with MTX, and barely improve the game at all with the extra funding. Warframe is one of the only games I'm aware of where the MTX actually goes to bettering the game, and where it actually makes a difference.

Like I said before, you are more than welcome to enjoy the game and nobody is going to fault you for it. I'm just giving you the reasons why people hate it, as you asked.

There were so many things that went wrong with Avengers. Everything above is valid, but even on top of that they had unheard of levels of exclusivity. Buy this phone plan to get x skins. Buy this gum for exclusive in game content. Spiderman only coming to PS4. Their store page mirrored Fortnite which is F2P game, while being a full price game.

I heard many people say some of the campaign missions were very good, but you can't even replay those.

Also superheroes have inherently different levels of power, which doesn't work that well in this type of game. I mean hulk and thor hit as hard as black widow in the game. Hulk having to punch a random robot multiple times just doesn't look good.

I agree entirely. Thor shouldn't have to hit a normal human being 6 times, even if it's at the very start of the game, to defeat them.

The exclusivity stuff is absolute garbage. I remember before they announced Spider-Man it was a rumor and I was hoping it wasn’t true that he’d be locked to only one platform, only to have reality smack me in the face

Yep. Getting real tired of Sony's exclusivity deals. I would genuinely rather have them buy the exclusivity outright than doing all the utter BS they've been doing.

And to be quite frank, if they can't afford to buyout full exclusivity for a game, then they shouldn't be in the exclusive business, because while exclusives are generally kind of a PITA, exclusivity deals on content in a multiplat game are one of the most egregious things I've seen in gaming. If you can't buy the rights entirely, don't even bother, Sony.

All it does is hurt the game, the players on other platforms, and fuel console wars.

I have Xb1X it’s playable. Few glitches, but there’s glitches on all the versions. After the patch last week, the only crashes is when multiple quest is happening at once (glitched).

My friend has it one PS4. He said it’s serious drops in frames.

The remainder of my friends have it on PC. About the same issues I’ve been getting, but they have a higher resolution.

You can request a refund within 14 days of purchase, and you can't have played it for more than 2 hours.

Yeah absolutely. The one part in the castle where miss utterly-useless-wish-she-was-dea...cough...I mean Ashley...has to turn the crank to lift the platforms out of the water (I think?) with infinitely spawning enemies was HELL on Xbox. Being able to aim quickly with the wiimote was sooooooo much better.

But for real though Ashley is literally the worst video game character of all time. Never in my life have I played a game with a more useless waste of 1s and 0s.

I'd even go as far as to say that the only way to actually enjoy the damn game is to go through with Outfit 2 where she gets a full suit of medieval plate armor and is invincible. I mean, the fact that she has an outfit that makes her invincible should tell everyone here who hasn't played the game just how bad she is. Honestly.

I enjoyed it! It's a unique real time combat system where there is no separate battle mode you run into, you just fight enemies as you run around

And you control the primary character, with other characters controlled via a "gambit" system that basically is basic AI programming, "if this condition applies, do this"... type thing

But it was enjoyable for me, but I'm a big final fantasy girl 😄
