Xbox is about building a platform and ecosystem that is accessible by all kinds of devices. doesn't matter if it is console, PC, mobile, streaming apps like on TVs. they are being proactive in trying to build an infrastructure that is ahead of the curve.

there is no doubt that Playstation will eventually do something similar when streaming is second nature for acquiring gaming content. at that point they will have some kind of launcher that is ubiquitous where you access the Playstation ecosystem (even if all their exclusives are tied to the launcher).

Microsoft's goal is to aim bigger than the 170 million combined console userbase between Playstation and Xbox the past 2 generations. so they are trying to get ahead of the curve early, partially because they have extra incentive and urgency after losing a bit of marketshare last generation (IMO), but more importantly because they want to break that ceiling and reach potentially hundreds of millions of more gamers in an ideal situation.

your kind of thinking is what led Blockbuster video to go out of business. they didn't adapt to what was coming around the corner, let others get out in front of them and got left in the dust.

A big part of the acquisitions is to leave the studios alone and let them build the thing they want to for sure (beyond compliance things that come with being a huge corporation). It will be interesting what folks like Raven, High Moon, Beenox, Toys for Bob get on with post-close since they've all been sucked into the Call of Duty vortex. Hopefully they get to build some new stuff, or take shots with the treasure trove of IP ABK owns (C'mon DJ Hero 3!)

i wish bethesda continued work on fallout 4 like they (kind of) do for skyrim

if a companion bumps into any npc, they walk into the wall for a few seconds before snapping out of it

and saves can corrupt on all platforms and you kinda just have to put up with it and start over

rough news. really surprised Starfield couldn't hit release date. but if the game needs the extra polish to reach a level of specialness that it will likely turn out to be, then it is understandable...especially as a current-gen only game. it needs to stand the test of time.

really interested to see what tricks Microsoft has up their sleeves for game releases in the second half of this year. doubt that everything is just punted (even if it is agreements with third-parties for Game Pass, etc). June 12 going to be even more interesting now.

it may be a buzzkill, but it isn't damaging (unless you mean fanboy fuel). as long Starfield impresses when it is unveiled and gameplay is shown, it isn't going to matter if it released in November or first-half 2023. if anything, it might give people more time to find a current-gen console.

I just finished my first Gears of War playthrough and it was way better than I expected it to be.
Very unique ideas, every segment of the game felt fresh and it was overall an incredibly fun and interesting game.
The co-op segments where you needed to communicate a bit were very fun too. We can't wait to play the 2nd game. :)

There is no way. Every time I switch between my personal hotspot and internet at my house, I need to re-enter the password.

I wish there was a way. It would be nice.
