Growing up I only ever really knew gears as one of those "only COOL kids play this", as in, playing Gears made you a cooler kid in school, regardless if the game was good or not. I've beaten 1 and 2 and I'm amazed at how well they hold up

Crash Bandicoot obviously has such huge appeal, the popularity of the Crash Trilogy remake and now they are actually getting an all new 4th game. Why not do the same with Banjo? Fans would go absolutely wild over a remake of the two games followed by a 3rd Banjo game(Banjo-Threeie 😏 )

The ironic thing for me is that many of the games we've seen in recent years and upcoming games pretty much fall into 'Shooter MMO like Fortnite, racing games, or 3rd person action adventure(I'd argue Xbox needs many of those exclusive to itself) and these "narrative" style experience games'.
Wanting more of those I listed and no room for the genres of older series goes against variety of gamers.

Halo Infinite being delayed is a good thing but at the same time, man the launch titles for next Xbox doesn’t look good. Granted I usually buy next gen a year later after launch but usually when your launching product, you need something to excite people.

yeah. i was bullish on XBox Series S/X outselling PS5 in a lot of locations. with Halo Infinite as the killer app and getting momentum for Game Pass. a potential lower priced Series S ($250-299) with Game Pass (100+ games), All-Access (no up-front cost) would seem like massive value and be a borderline impulse buy this holiday for casuals and average consumers. and would give XBox big momentum in 2021. but as great the value Game Pass is, you still need that initial killer app to get people truly excited for it when its something "new."
i am now somewhat hesitant with my bullish claims. unless Microsoft has a trick up its sleeve or dips into the war-chest for something exclusive to Game Pass (which there are some murmurs about recently) then its going to be a bit more tricky now. this has me being much more cautious in my analysis. and i say this from the perspective of getting a PS4 at launch over the One and was initially leaning towards Series X over PS5.

It wasn't about the lineup of games for me, I am still day one because of the technology and new features the console will have, also BC titles being able to load quicker and have quick resume. I have a mountain of backlog so anything that is going to help me go through it is a big plus.

the idea that you can get something like the Series S into the hands of average consumers and super-casuals for like $20 a month with access to Game Pass can be great value for some people....and extremely manageable. it also borders on "impulse buy". its one of the reasons why i have been so bullish on the combination of Series S/X being able to outsell PS5 in some territories.
even though i am more hesitant at the moment due to the hype of Halo being gone at launch. there is still massive value there and hopefully MS pulls a rabbit out of the hat and makes some new announcements. because its much easier to ride the momentum of hype on something like a game and have it carry over to the services....rather than simply relying on a service for hype.

Yes there's damage simulation. However it's hard to notice unless you're looking to pretty much everything on cockpit. For example, engine isn't burning or smoking like crazy if you've set up an engine failure. It just stops and you lose your balance

According to a web site called real sport they have this to say about flight simulator 2020. Microsoft Flight Simulator arrived on Tuesday, 18 August 2020 on PC via Steam and Windows, but there is no news from Microsoft as to when the game will arrive on Xbox One.
We expect it to arrive on console when Xbox Series X releases – which is expected in November.
The game will release on both Xbox One and Series X.

@random fog: your mindset and mentality would make sense if Microsoft's goal was to simply hit 100 million consoles sold each generation and call it a day. but at the moment they seem to be trying to strive for a "big picture" plan. in this plan, they are also trying to guard against future streaming competitors like Google or Amazon, who could swoop in and instantly grow their marketshare in a few years.
look at this way, the past two generations have hit about 170 million consoles (between Microsoft and Sony). 360-PS3 was roughly 85-85 and One-PS4 is roughly 50-120. so no doubt a big downer this generation. but things can change in a new generation (Wii U to Switch for example).
consoles are still really important to Microsoft because that audience is their bread and butter at the moment and the most reliable (for subscriptions, services, hype, etc). but they know that no matter how good they do (or Sony for that matter), they are going to hit that ceiling. so if Microsoft can expand their ecosystem and get people interacting with their games in all forms from console, to PC, to mobile, then they are in position to break through that 170 million console ceiling the past two generations. as Phil has mentioned, there are "hundreds of millions" more potential gamers out there (if not billions).
and as mentioned earlier, once infrastructure is in the place, Microsoft knows there are other competitors out there waiting to pounce, especially if they get momentum or become trendy. (Google, Amazon, etc). the positive for Microsoft right now is the actual XBox core user (mostly console based too). the console userbase is the foundation that all of this will be built on. will they succeed? we'll see. but i understand the idea in trying to go big. they are trying to get ahead of the curve instead of being reactionary.
also, if XBox gaming communities are thriving thanks to increased player participation due to console, PC, streaming, etc....then it will be a fun ride.

@west fable Ubisoft is too big and probably wouldn't worth the money. Bethesda is perfect fit for Xbox because they can develop high quality games and they have lots of studios. I think Xbox will go for mid-sized studios like FromSoftware, Platinum Games, Asobo and etc.

@strange oasis: putting aside Bethesda's juggernauts, are you aware of some of the bigger ones announced (ignoring Halo, Forza)? Avowed, Hellblade 2, Fable, Everwild, The Initiative's third-person action adventure (i hope its a Perfect Dark reboot or a new IP).
lesser-scale launch window exclusive games from third-parties like The Medium, Twelve Minutes, Scorn, The Ascent, Martha is Dead (2021). XBox came out swinging too. it is unfortunate Halo was delayed, but for the betterment of the game.
and since some mentioned FPS games earlier, would love the idea of some kind of Quake remake of the original or a spinoff related to it. simply because the first was more gothic or Lovecraftian horror atmosphere, while the sequels started integrating more and more sci-fi elements.
