Yeah, it's funny that at it took them this long to make a Tetris game run at 60fps, but anyway it's here.
I believe they are trying to optimize it for switch on launch and were able to pass some of those optimizations to OG Xbox One.

This game was unplayable for me earlier as it ran at 30fps which is terrible for Tetris and now I play it pretty much all the time.

What a lot of folks aren't factoring in is Microsoft expanding console gaming to markets where it wasn't economically possible before.. Developing countries have huge populations with little to no gaming and if Microsoft can convince even a small fraction of those to pay for Gamepass then this model can easily scale.

Per Big Mac Index, buying a $70 game in India is almost like buying a game for $240 in USA, that basically means nobody buys consoles as it's out of reach.

But something like gamepass is totally affordable and I know a lot of people who got into console gaming for the first time with gamepass.

Microsoft can totally expand markets to India, Brazil and a lot of other places. People need to realize that US, Japan and Europe make a small fraction of the global population. There is basically no gaming market outside these countries and Gamepass makes it feasible for developing countries with low cost of living to be able to afford proper gaming.

If you can sell a cheap product to several millions of people, then it's easily feasible.

Also Gamepass isn't going just after console audience. With game streaming basically any device with internet can play games. They are targeting a lot bigger audience in general regardless of the platform. It's highly scalable compared to the typical selling games on consoles.

Think iTunes store vs music streaming as we know now

Good luck convincing anyone in India to pay $1/song, but millions are happily paying $1.5/month for Spotify subscription in the same country.

Gaming markets in developed countries are saturated with game prices seriously challenging the upper bound of what people are willing to pay per game ($70)

as far as I know all the 'family stuff' is just about giving parents tha bility to manage their kids' accounts. I don't think it gives you discounts.

the one 'save money as a family' thing that does exist thoguh is the 'home xbox' feature.

If you have an xbox in the living room/family room and also one in your bedroom (for example), then you can set the living room one as your 'home xbox', but Ultimate for yourself, and then even if you aren't playing on that console your family/roommates can play your games on it.

Then the xbox in your room would let you play on it if you were actually logged in to it.

For PC only (NOT on the console), when sharing your game pass account with a family member, they get their own progression in their own library of game pass games, do they also get their own EA Play subscription from family share?

You'd have to try it but I'd guess it wouldn't work the way you want. Either it uses the EA Play account tied to the Xbox account logged into the Store app, which means they'd be using your EA Account and therefore your progression, or it uses the EA Play account tied to the Xbox account logged into the Xbox App (which doesn't have Game Pass), which means they couldn't install it. I don't know off the top of my head how the integration works.

ive got game pass and it says here that there was red dead redemption 2 and that its available for free on gamepass, it turns out that it was ONLY for red dead online. it said that it contained red dead redemption 2, not red dead online, and the pictures also said that it was the story mode version of red dead redemption 2, but when i played it it only contained red dead online. so whats the point of putting up read dead online?? why is there 2 versions when theyre all the same? to bait people into downloading your game and getting money to feed your ceo?

its upto the publishers to decide what gets added, last year was the story mode of RDR2, this year Rockstar decided to just add the Online version, so if you dont like something then its the publisher, Microsoft just paid them upfront for whoever many months, GTA V has been in twice too.

the online version has its own page and i dont see a purpose to put it up on the page that says red dead redemption 2 that shows screenshots of the story mode and clearly is showing the story mode version and has only one picture of the online version. it's misleading and it shouldnt be in the page where its not supposed to be? because in the part where it shows all the features of the games such as the story mode characters, the scenes in story mode, etc. it isnt in the game when you install it.
