Am I reading the list wrong? It lists the Surge on Win 10 1400 gamer score, but I´m pretty sure it does not have achievements - I played it for quite a bit though Game Pass on PC and got nothing.

I just mean for developers. Like if it's a pretty easy process for them to take what was formally a steam achievement in a game and when coming to the windows store just convert it to an Xbox one.

Designers mostly.

I mean there's a finite amount a single title can give. It can grow via DLC but the initial title has a cap. They likely figure out what's hard to do in the game and start there.

And look at what other games have done well with Achievements is likely also source of input. You'll notice that at the start of Xbox 360, Achievements were all over the place. Some were 1000 for playing through the game, some were 1000 for the impossible, and some erred on 1000 for a collection of combo moves that took minutes, which lowered the net worth of their Achievements immediately. Six months later, things started to settle into the groove we have today.

I wasn't part of the meetings but my guess is that's exactly why they were lower: protection for AAA games.

Yes you do, its usually 2 weeks notice and will appear in Game Pass tab under " games leaving soon ". as its contract based most of the games are in for a year usually, there were some promotions for newer games but they only stayed in 3-6 months.

I've bought my xbox last week and when activating xbox live gold it asked me if i wanted a 3 month subscription to Game Pass for 1$. I said yes because I thought it was a good deal. later on I discovered that I now have 12 months of game pass and then learned about the deal of converting Gold into Game Pass. My question is if I now buy 2 years of Gold can I convert them again for 1$? So that I have 3 years instead of one?

They may offer $1 deals for Ultimate in the future, but you won't get that upgrade deal again. That's a one time thing.

Once you have upgraded Ultimate becomes a subscription on your account. You can cancel Ultimate and go back to separate Gold and/or Game Pass subscriptions again, but Ultimate is still linked to your account in case you want to reactivate it at a later date. It's all covered in the FAQ.

a warning to those who uninstall a game on the Xbox PC app

Sunset Overdrive was crashing on my PC pretty consistently so I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. none of my old saves showed up when booting the game again after reinstall; they may have been deleted during uninstall. there was no in-game or Xbox PC app method of syncing/restoring cloud saves AFAIK

make sure you keep a backup of the saves elsewhere on your PC. it may happen when uninstalling other Xbox Games Pass games, which I haven't tried yet

@humble swan only problem is I don't think saves can be backed up. Microsoft locks away the folders to games installed through the Microsoft Store, probably something to do with good old DRM, if not then I can't see why access to those game folders are denied and seem to require permissions not enabled on an admin PC account by default

You can take ownership of every file and folder if you wanna

Hint: Don't do that if system is compressing your files, "Bootmgr is compressed" error nuked my system. There is a good reason Microsoft just don't let you touch system files

Hi I have the 6 month Ultimate Game Pass from Halo outpost, I already have the Ultimate game pass, but My Mom has a Microsoft Computer and uses a Microsoft Account. Im trying to exchange it with her to get nitro for Discord, but I don't want to give her something useless. Since I already have the Game Pass does that go to the PC as well so she can download games, or does he have to use the 6 month card to have it on the PC. My Mom also like Puzzles games, like Bejeweled or Candy Crush. And other Puzzles Games that fun and Simple, is their any on the PC.

You can go back to using regular Gold. You just don’t get any remaining time on Ultimate converted to standard Gold. You’ll use your remaining time and then Ultimate cancels. You can then renew the standard Gold subscription if you don’t need Ultimate

Difference in comparison to owning the game is that you don't get to keep it and if you stop paying you can't play it unless you do buy it. Also, some games are removed from Game Pass over time.

Game Pass brings in more people to Xbox which is valuable to Microsoft. It's recurring revenue.

The publishers get paid by MS to feature their game on GP. That will get people playing that may not have bought the game otherwise. It then encourages DLC purchases or purchases of other titles from the franchise/same developer.

Subscriptions are valuable to companies. It gets people into the ecosystem who then spend money on other things, especially when they're saving so much elsewhere. It also keeps people invested for a longer period.

You can buy the DLC and it will work with your Game Pass copy of the game.

It depends what you want. If you only have PC, or only want Game Pass on PC, then buying PC Pass only is a better option for you.

Ultimate is only beneficial if you have an Xbox and want to roll everything into one.

But if you buy a pass that's for 3 months or 12 months etc, then you can't stop it in the middle. If you were to cancel a 3/6/12 months pre-paid sub it would continue until the end of the paid time and then stop.

Ultimate will condense your subs into one package i.e Gold and Game Pass.. so say you had 5 months of gold and grabbed the 2 month GP, when you converted to Ultimate. that would of been a total of 8 months.

Ultimate gives you 1 month aswell

maximum you can have is 36 months so people have been buying up their Gold or Game Pass before converting to Ultimate and not pay anything for 3 years

mine runs out in June 2020 but I can still extend using cards.

oh some people who buy more than one month at a time of Xbox Live, when you go to Ultimate it converts everything to one sub.. so say you had 6 months of Gold, you will get 7 months of Ultimate, and wont have to pay anything till it runs out

I don't know that there's policy. If you preorder it now it'll actually download a stub, which should update either automatically or on demand (depending on your settings) some point ahead of release. You won't be able to launch it until the specified time.
