I think really for people here there’s only a few ways you can do to manage what xbox is doing:

Buy up the ultimate gift card prices, prices will remain the same although it depends

Buy a PC, may cost a lot but you can just switch to PC game pass and make your life easier.

I don’t see much of a purpose in buying the two lower tiers. But tbh unless xbox is going to change drastically, I think people should start making plans to slowly move to PC. Save up your money and buy a PC because it will be worth it. They may cost a lot, but at least you won’t be used.

I think the new plans was because of Xbox ally. It’s pc so PC game pass was a good choice. But they showed cloud gaming. So best choice is Ultimate. But having players aimed at the top subscription after buying a new handheld? Ok add cloud gaming to all the tiers, and add pc while we are at it.

I will say I got the old Rog Ally (Z1 Extreme) it's a really nice device, so if the Xbox Rog Ally is suitably more powerful it should be great.

You can get the old Rog Ally for about £340 now and it's well worth it, I've benchmarked games like Cyberpunk and Fallout London on Medium-High settings and they run well!

24 gb ram isn’t actually excessive because 1) It’s unified memory and 2) it’s way newer than the series x which is five years old now. Might sound like a lot now but if the next gen Xbox has 32 gb then 24 will seem small in comparison. So TLDR it’s mostly for future proofing.

Personally I like the Legion GO a little more but the Rog Ally is good too. Both share the same Z1 Extreme GPU (Tho Rog Ally has a cheaper model with a normal Z1) But Legion GO is SLIGHTLY more powerful and has detachable control sticks, Switch style. I will say a lot of people would probably prefer the grip/feeling of a Rog Ally tho

Still some would prefer a Steam Deck, because while it's a bit less powerful, it's still packs a punch, and it's cheaper and also more user friendly. All this to say the handheld gaming market is on fire rn, nobody could have predicted this 5 years ago!

Steam Deck Oled cost me £360, I bought that one first early in the year, and I really like it, the OLED model is a bit better than the original. Rog Ally (standard model but with Z1 Extreme GPU) i bought a few months later for about £380 I wanna say. And Legion Go was the most expensive at £430 and I bought that one most recently. All together it's a ridiculous amount of money to spend, but by getting them pre owned I basically got them 2 for the price of 3 lol

I've never been a big hardware collector before this, and I've never had a handheld gaming device before this year, so that says something about how neat I think these devices are!

Well yeah it just depends on what you play and your priorities. If you play games like cod then a switch 2 probably isn’t for you but if you’re a big nintendo gamer like me then you would be destined to get a switch 2 anyway.

I don't play COD at all but yeah I've never ben into Nintendo, just didn't grow up with their consoles and games

I also don't like how Nintendo have handled this launch, I do have a Switch Lite that I bought a few years ago and never played, but I don't think I'll get a Switch 2, I don'tlike the practices of Nintendo lately, much like Microsoft

My main console history is as follows: Sega Mega Drive, PS1, PS2, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and then I moved onto these handhelds and such, and a few weeks ago I got my first desktop PC 🙂

No it was $20 a year for the base tier and $50 I think for the premium tier with a bunch of dlcs and retro games available

Still is. Family membership saves even more.
