Look on the store page for the game you care about and check to see if it says "cross progression" or "play anywhere" or "cloud saves" or whatever.
Cross oprogression definitely means you can use teh same file.
Play anywhere means like 98% of the time you can use the same file.
Cloud Saves on modern games usually means you can, on older games maybe not.

There's no set time.

If it's a brand new game releasing on day one then it usually hits Game Pass at the same time the game launches.

For games that are already out, they can be added anywhere between 00:00 and 23:59 US time (whichever time zone Xbox HQ is located in).

it was a big move. on a smaller scale the Bethesda games dropped into game pass all in a bunch. only getting D4 as the first seems like a greater plan in action since there are plenty of old games that could be added since they likely are not making much new revenue otherwise like all the 360 CoDs

Plus they only started working once the merger closed in october. They also need to work with ubisoft as well to put abk games on game pass due to ubisoft owns the abk cloud rights

Activision games will have all kinds of contracts in place. Also, this acquisition had a lot of legal attention and Microsoft have a load of deals they had to make for game releases.

Endless replayability? I'm not sure about that one, but No Man's Sky and Skyrim are two games you can sink a ton of time into. I can't remember if No Man's Sky is still on Game Pass, but Skyrim definitely is.
