Yes, yes it is. It's very Pokemon. though it takes the side-on look of a 2d platformer rather than the overhead view of a Pokemon RPG.

Maybe Soul Hackers 2 is one to take a look at too, because it's an SMT spin off. I feel like Pokémon really borrowed from the SMT franchise. Those games are usually much darker and edgier though.
