games that don't achievements don't link to their other counterparts that do
the only way it'd show on your profile is if it had its own achievement list, was cross-progression/play-anywhere, or you started the console version that did have an achievement list (which would be a separate game)
example
it'll usually say "For Windows", "Windows10/Win10" or "PC" in its list if it has a separate list.
games that are cross-progression will have it linked to the other version, FFXV is an example. Play-anywhere titles are the same game entirely.

#idarb has a really interesting achievement. you used to be able to just tweet with a particular hashtag to earn it, but now you have to be broadcasting on Twitch and someone needs to comment in the chat with the hashtag. it's pretty neat, actually! but someday it's likely to not work at all

a trick I learned (probably from Louie) is to look on True Achievements list of games on sale every week (posted in #gaming-deals ) and sort by price. check the cheapest ones for completion time. (TA shows that for most games too)

Some achievements will work retroactively, so if you have already completed the requirements it will pop automatically when you launch the game. However, those are more the exception and most games you will need to play to earn the new achievements.
