Ok, it might work offline, but I’m not sure to be honest. The thing I would try first is go into the store app and disable automatic updates, go back online, and launch it. See if the game kicks you out and prompts for the update.

If it does, go offline and play offline and hope it unlocks

If it doesn’t kick you out, stay online and unlock it ASAP

For the first part you wrote: go online WHILE PLAYING the game? Or go online, THEN attempt to launch it?

Because if the latter, my fear is that now it'll be waiting for an update and even if I go online, it won't launch. And the chance to finish this will be gone forever

It's not a wipe, it's that they'll be "incompatible" with the game after the update

Sorry, dinner and some evening time with the family. The Xbox app is using a different mechanism for updates, yes, but this is a much older game using an older technology that doesn't require the Xbox app's technology for updates. So just launch the game directly from the start menu.

And you may be ok with launching while offline and then connecting, but the game may not handle reconnecting mid-game well for achievements, I don't know

-Go online and sign in so that achievements are good to go
-Launch via start menu
-If it launches in the outdated version, with achievements ready, then there we go
-If it doesn't want to Launch and wants the update, disconnect ASAP, go full offline, and hope the game is still playable without the update?

@sullen crypt Brief update: Went online, signed in, and launched the game from the start menu. It launched offline and in the outdated version, as before

Achievements are now visible in the widget menu BUT I can't actually see my achievements in the game and track their progress. It says "Launch a game to view its achievements here", even tho the overly does clearly detect I'm in-game

So... still no way for me to track the cheevo other than to just... go for it and hope it pops, I guess? It gives me the option to view all achievements in the xbox app, but I'm afraid to launch the app and have it interfere with what I'm doing lol

Then again, I did just (while typing this) get one of those "Hey you earned some rewards points!" Pop-ups from xbox in the overlay so... clearly it is running and tracking me...

Ok, so the game is checking in with a server then to notice it is running the outdated version. When you say the widget menu is showing you the achievements, I assume you mean Game Bar Achievements widget? If that's showing up, then hopefully that is in fact enough 🙂

It’s just easy indies. Mostly games that updated and added more achievements. If you’re looking to boost your gamerscore, buy games from eastasiasoft, ratalaika, and xitilon.

XBox's equivalent of platinum trophies are quite often broken. You can do everything and they'll just never unlock. The only "fix" is to do the entire game again. I've never heard of a fix outside of that.

I have played multiplayer, it wasn't to my liking on some aspects, but it was neat it had a similar movement system to MW19, but some aspects like the maps and guns wasn't to my liking at the time, but this was also very early into the lifecycle of vanguard

i finished deep impact pretty quickly because i had already captured a few bugsnax in that area from aimlessly wandering around

the game will sometimes tell you which region the bugsnax wearing a hat is in, so you can just try and find it there

and apparently i had already done 30/50+ of those challenges without even thinking about it so from there it was just knocking out the rest and then redecorating

but lo and behold, i have now 100% completed bugsnax, and it only took me ~18 hours

I'm fine with that one. The one I hate is having to use Cat Call to defeat Cheetah. It's so RNG based to even get Cat Call unless you fulfill every requirement to do Catwoman's Legendary Multiverse.

You don't HAVE to, it's just major RNG if you don't. Her Legendary guarantees Cat Call as a reward, otherwise you have to hope to open it in a mother box.

If I'm reading these right, it looks like just one multiplayer achievement/trophy which is just play 10 games. All the rest is single player.

I guess it all depends on how the story mode works too. If it's all open world and no races, then the race related achievements will be online.

I only played the multiplayer during the beta, so don't know what's involved with the story mode.

Anyone know why some games give you progress for an achievement while other games don't? For example in Halo, win 300 multiplayer games I'm at 99% but in fall guys there's an achievement to advance 500 times and it doesn't show any stats.

Achievements can be unlocked without any (or minimal) user input unless required as part of the core gameplay loop
While I get the idea, the exact wording of the second clause here has me confused.

I think it means something like a situation where you need to remain still for some reason. Maybe a stealth encounter to hear a certain piece of dialogue or similar.

Some games also have silly easter egg achievements for staying still for a certain amount of time. I think those would be fine - it's more to prevent games like that one where you literally do nothing with the controller and just wait for the achievements to unlock while you look at a cat.

Like Aabs Animals would probably be disallowed, because you literally don't do anything to unlock the achievements.

But in AC games, standing still to eavesdrop is a common thing, so while you might not give any input for awhile, it would be allowed, because it's part of the core game mechanics.

Ugh, there is a hardcore achievement as I expected, but at least you only need to reach level 50 in hardcore and not 100.

The rest looks surprisingly not too bad. Only one max level achievement, but there are achievements for kills with specific classes/abilities.
