The worst story I can tell is years ago I worked in this place where you had to always be accounting for time. There were buttons to press that put you in different states, right? "Personal Hygiene Time" was the button to press for taking a bathroom break, and you were strictly limited to how much time you could be in that state each day.

The weather is good today and to my suprise a game I ordered updated the tracking, I was afraid I would have to cancel it because it would not be sent out it has been a couple of weeks already. that's because it's a very rare and expensive game (need for speed most wanted 2005) I got it for a good price.

I will say, unless you have motion sickness/headache issues, stick with the default view styles it gives you for each character.

I hated the first person mode forced in Village, but playing Grace in first-person is perfect and really adds to the tension. Leon in third-person plays well with the action style gameplay he has.

I just love soul sacrifice on the vita which some have compared to monster hunter, I guess it's essentially the same thing, I did give MH a go when it was free on ps plus but I never really got that far, soul sacrifice is a definite recommend from me because it's story really draws you in, the music and everything. Like, if it were ME programming it, I'd have it upload the new file to a temp storage, and only replace the old file once the transfer was complete. And maybe, just maybe (I'd have to ask if we can budget the resources) you keep one or more old revisions as a failback.

But that's easy to say now, who knows what they thought of decades ago.

Thing is, if each user can store... IDK lets say a gig of save data in the cloud... then potentially you're doubling that to store an old revision, and then mulitiplied by however many million users it turns out to be a lot of storage.

And if you wanna keep more than one old version (depends how critical the data is—I'm thinking less of games and more of stuff that needs to be fault-tolerant I guess) then you know, triple instead of double, and the cost gets to be a number you can't ignore.

One reaon for not allowing access to previous versions of a save file is to stop people doing dupe glitches. Trade an item to a friend, load the old save, get the item back, trade to a friend, load the old save, get item back etc etc

Also why Nintendo excludes certain titles from access to cloud save backups, like Pokémon games.

Ah, you see, I wouldn't allow access in that way if it were me. The old versions would be maintained purely in case of a save file that was corrupted. The user would never know.

It would just be like, we have a way of validating these files and if at any time the newest version for whatever reason ends up being a lemon, you can throw the older revision at them.

I will also say that I think the manual syncs on PS3 / PS4 did allow exactly what you were talking about anyway.

Oh actually, I was wrong. Super Stardust HD was the first to get trophies, adding them to the game when the firmware update went out, but Uncharted was the first retail game to get a platinum.

I built quite the collection of PS releases on PC. Don't quite have them all but found most of them to run pretty well and to be enjoyable. Would have been looking forward to playing games like Ghost of Yotei and Wolverine (even though that is a much later release as it is yet to even feature on PS5) and now both of those are up in the air. Luckily the new Kena game that got announced is still releasing on PC afaik anyway
