It's not too bad, but depends on what games you play and how much you're willing to scale things down to extend battery.

But I've not had many times where I've used it away for a power source for a long period. Got a charger in the car for long journeys and will plug in when at home.

Not exactly like that. On consoles you cannot lower the graphics settings, while on PC and mobile you can, to make more demanding games run better. Not to mention, on mobile Roblox does a lot of aggressive level of quality changes to assets in the distance or not visible, to save performance.

Ally owners: how do you know what TDP to use when playing a game? Purely trial and error?

If it's a 3D game, I try first at 17W. If it works fine, I lower to 13W to try.

Thing is, Snapdragon chips are starting to get particularly good even when running x86 software. Still not perfect, but catching up fast. That's why I think once Nvidia throws in their own ARM-based system, there's going to be a lot of renewed interest.

vr is a niche thing that most developers usually dont make one. handful of games have vr support on both pc and ps thats about it. handhelds will never have the same performance as a console or pc. usually lower
