Expense is relative. To some people 20 dollars is a lot and could be too expensive for them.

However, it's more a matter of value of the product and if you're getting sufficient value for the amount that's being paid.

I'm sure for many people $30 USD is a lot, but it will save them a ton more on the cost of buying games, it's a worthwhile expense if they can fit it into their budget.

Personally I think it's superb value for money. I've got mine stacked up for the next two and a half years.

Also, with them now adding Fortnite Crew as part of it, that means I actually save £9.99/month.

Yeah, there are 3 regions: NTSC, NTSC-J and PAL.
Xbox OG and Xbox 360 games are generally region-locked, but some of them are region-free.

On Xbox One and Xbox Series X, all game discs are region free. You can put an Xbox OG, Xbox 360, Xbox One or Xbox Series X disc (as long as it is on backwards compatibility) and it will run

My Series X is Japanese (NTSC-J) and I run NTSC games on it

It is still region locked for movie discs, but not for games

My 360 is NTSC, so I can run my games there too

Xbox OG, PS2 and Xbox 360 games need to be from the same region as the console (if the game in case isnt region free). But the TV being PAL or NTSC doesnt matter.

On older consoles, like the Mega Drive (Sega Genesis in US) and Super Nintendo, even the TV needed to be from the same region, or else the console wouldnt show video or it would be out of sync

PS1, N64 and Sega Saturn era started to be less dependent on TV patterns, but the games there are still region-locked

PS3, PS Vita, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S physical games are all region-free now

For Nintendo physical games: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS, Wii U, Switch and Switch 2 are region-free
