Well what I'll say to you is this: A lot of it is skippable and it won't hurt your experience at all to skip it. You can stick to just the story if that's what you like. All you'll miss out on is a small amount of money, XP, and gear. However, there's also a ton of story which is optional, and only a little bit repetitive.

I almost always know that I'm willing to keep the game. I don't exactly have a 100% perfect judgement, but I usually pay a discount price and so it's fine to keep a game I don't love. The only times I've requested a refund is because I wanted to get a different edition of the game. It can sometimes be confusing to know which version is the best deal to get all the content.

any time there is an OLED option I would go for it. OLED is on another level compared to LCD. Though idk if the Steam Deck has any features in place to reduce the risk of burn in. Obvious advice would be to keep your screen brightness below 100% and minimize use of static content on screen where possible
