I can try enabling automatic updates again. Earlier, I had seen it take time to shut down once. But then I realised, it completely shuts down from the power options. I always did that, but one day, the dashboard or home screen was black. I restored it using a hard reset. After that, the automatic updates were off, and I could turn off the console normally using the controller.
