Arch Linux is pretty cool. Though I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone try it that doesn't understand Linux as it isn't very new user friendly at all. Needs some manual configuration but the archinstall script can make that much easier as I found out or I probably wouldn't be giving Arch Linux any praise. Allows you to make an OS (or distro in Linux talk) the way you want it with none of the bloat (good luck getting anything like that with Windows)

They didn’t really have any major hardware issues like the 360 had. The old models had less reliable disc drives and the leaking clock capacitor issues were the main two. Buying one now it would likely need thermal paste replaced, disc drive belt replaced and drive cleaned up. probably a replacement hard drive to keep it going as well if you can find someone who refurbishes them.

Okay I found something actually awful about the Switch 2. They got rid of the Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound option on the GameCube games that originally supported it. Nintendo is a big boy company, they can pay the licensing fees for the format.

Simulated surround on headphones can be quite cool, but it is still just a simulation, not real surround

Plus, I'd rather not wear headphones all the time to play games

In a game like Mario Kart in particular, surround can be pretty useful, since you can tell when somebody is coming behind you and from which side

It's annoying, because some Nintendo games actually sound AMAZING in surround. Breath of the Wild's winds around you is very immersive. Mario Kart World and its 24 racers sound all around you is a fantastic rush of a feeling.

But at the same time they don't seem to care enough about it to make surround options as accessible as possible, or downright stripping the option out of older games

Like, even Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask supported surround on the N64, which was crazy at the time

And all of that is now stripped out

I wasn’t planning on playing the GameCube games on this anyway as I have a real GameCube with the games here still but yeah a bit disappointing

I'm curious to see what Gamecube games they'll be adding. I only ever had Super Mario Sunshine and Wind Waker. Trying out F-Zero GX already is a novelty for me.

Metroid Dread will forever be my favorite game of all time. Seeing the way in 2d. Also with E.M.M.I and new antagonist, I really do enjoy it during christmas eve

Yeah the DS remasters usually had some kind of trade off like Mario 64 having to use the dpad

If they ever do another Mario 64 remaster I guess they would use the DS version as a base though for the added characters

They actually changed some of the textures for higher resolution ones, but the game is essentially still the N64 one

Yeah that collection quite bare bones. I think it was emulated but touched up the textures and a few things.

There’s about 25m PlayStation 5’s in Europe - a massive boost to the playerbase for us playing here.

Gears has always struggled with player numbers and this I hope will help.

Even if 10% or 1% of players are playing on PlayStation - that’s massive.
