biggest change to look out for imo is the limitations both consoles have with their HDMI 2.1 as it could limit picture options somewhat. PS5 being limited to 32 Gbps and Series X being limited to 40 Gbps. HDMI 2.1 max bandwidth is 48 Gbps

My understanding is that when they say that (which they do) they mean "assuming certain viewing conditions" which apply to movie / TV content. I don't think they'd add the qualifier "visually" if it wasn't a weaselly statement.

I get that but it would have been a way console users could have enjoyed the full features of their display without having to worry about any limitations on either end of the setup. HDR requires more bandwidth and afaik neither the PS5 or Series X have the bandwidth to support HDR at 4K 120Hz 10 bit and 4:4:4, there will be compromises made somewhere. DSC would fix that issue while then opening the floodgates to even higher refresh rates

Again, different use cases. It doesn't have to be one or the other. For most people they are second devices.

For the price point, the hardware is decent and they play games very well. I'm not expecting a high end experience, just the same as I'm not expecting high end if I play on Switch. But I'm able to play portable and access Game Pass stuff while travelling.

Could they be better? Sure, of course they can. So could consoles. But these are first gen devices and they're decent for first gen.
