I can't seem to find a straight answer on google, so does anyone know the difference between demos and "trial games" on 360?

Traditionally, trials are the full game, or at least a sizable chunk of it (enough that you're not expected to reach the end), with a timer to limit your play, while demos are separately-made things that can be played until an explicit intended end point. That's the implementation on Xbox One and Series X|S, and I think 360 was the same way, but I'm not certain. Don't think I ever played a trial on 360, only demos.

Trials were pretty rare for 360, from what I can recall.

well, for one example of a trial, perfect dark, it gives you access to a tiny portion and allows you to purchase the full game in the trial, the install size is also the same

As mentioned, download speed is capped if a game is running. Another thing to bear in mind is burst speed versus sustained speed. Most speed tests aren't enough to reveal what your sustained download speed is. They'll only show what you get for small downloads, and there's also the possibility that ISPs specifically avoid throttling speed tests. Large downloads, once they've run for a good while, do tend to slow down significantly. Buffers at various points can fill up, creating hardware bottlenecks, and your ISP might also start throttling things.

My speed often fluctuates between 100 and 20 during downloads, as well, but I have definite signal issues (been trying to get our internet fixed for over 20 years with no success).

Side note, if you're thinking of purchasing, consider picking up Rare Replay for Xbox One. I believe that includes Perfect Dark and Perfect Dark Zero. It has a number of games that are playable within the Rare Replay game itself, but also bundles in a bunch of Xbox 360 titles (including Banjo Kazooie), that you should be able to play on an actual Xbox 360. When I bought it, I ended up with two copies of each 360 game in my library on Xbox One, one with a Rare Replay banner across the top of the cover art, and one without. I think the ones without it are specifically there to grant access from a 360. I'm really just speculating, though. Been forever since I've booted my 360, and I honestly forget if the Rare Replay titles showed up there. I think they did, though.

Yeah, Rare Replay is the first game I'm aware of that was capable of launching other games from within the game (along with the Battlefield titles, when they added their fancy hub menu for switching games). I'm gonna guess it's something to do with supporting that feature, perhaps?

Don't know about a direct data transfer (though cloud saves are your friend here),/ but I will say that the E has swappable hard drives, with a neat little modular design that's much more simple and compact than the behemoth HDD modules of the first set of 360 units.

Just as a side note, about lovely little design touches... The 360E's hard drive even has a little woven nylon ribbon for pulling out the hard drive (like what they used to put in battery compartments, so you could tug on the ribbon to pop out the batteries), and I think the ribbon itself actually has the HDD's size woven into it, despite the fact that 90% of users would never even open that compartment.

Or I could just be seeing this through rose-colored glasses, and misremembering a sticker on the end of the HDD module.

The GPU isn't everything in a console. The Series S has a significatly more powerful CPU, faster memory, much faster storage and offers current support from developers. There's no need to drop money on last gen for a worse experience that's slowly dying off.

I'm honestly dreading FF14 coming to Xbox. I have a friend who's wanted me to join him on it for years, even wanted to pay my subscription, but...we just don't do that well together in MMOs. Oh, yeah, I still have my One Elite, and the controller that it came with, with its peeling grips, broken shoulder button, and floppy sticks. 😛 I loved the Elite Controller, but it just totally lacks durability. Weirdly, the One Elite's SSHD is reportedly still a 5400 RPM drive, so I've never been sure if I'd get better performance from the internal or a 7200 RPM external. Never could tell which was better, honestly.

I'm a little puzzled by what you mean... My Xbox One Elite definitely came with an Elite Controller, packed in. Paddles and all. The grips started to bubble just before the one-year console warranty ran out, but I didn't realize what was about to happen, and didn't send it in... The Xbox One Elite, ultimately, was more of a promotion for the controller, I think, than a full-fledged attempt to make a serious second tier of the console.

I will say that the MCC was really fun, even for me, as someone who's honestly never enjoyed Halo that much. I like the campaigns, but as someone who started with Halo 4 (bundled with my 360), Halo multiplayer has generally always left me feeling shockingly depressed. I don't know what it is, but I just go through the motions with the most blank expression on my face, never really enjoying myself. No other game has ever elicited that response from me. Something about Halo just kills me inside. If I had to guess, it's the shields. Being able to dump tons of rounds at someone and not kill them, just because they made it to cover after surviving a sizable amount of sustained fire. But that's really just a guess.

I've primarily only played the campaign on the MCC, but it's definitely great, and looks amazing.

My personal record in BF4 was around 500 revives (full-health revives, not 20% ones) in a max-ticket Metro match... Finally had a proper Mad Medic moment on 2042 this morning. I thought I'd had them before, but...not like this. Not even close.

Tried out Breakthrough on the reworked Hourglass map as a defender... Welp. Top of the board. 22 kills, 20 deaths, 90 freaking revives, 81 heals and resupplies (mostly heals). The first 40 revives were from the first sector, and the vast majority of those came within the first 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Only lost two sectors, and only lost the first when I finally died and then got spawn killed twice in a row.

It depends on your personal level of skill and what you're used to. There are differences between mobile and console gaming, but at the same time there's a lot of titles that are on both with transferrable skills.

CoD is on mobile. So if you play that, it will help you with CoD on console.

Just play games, have fun and if you don't do very well at first stick with it and practice. That's all there is to it.

South Park Stick of Truth is completely ignoring Xbox settings and just takes the input of the controller as it is as well. Not even using the Xbox OS API for it lol
