2 began development as early as 2015, while RE7 was in the middle of development
the next RE game I would say should be RE9
RE7 was in development for 5 years. During that time Capcom made a new engine. RE8 was 4 years, so at least shave a year off on making a new engine and reusing only a minor amount of assets
I'll assume the next remake (whatever it'll be) will come out in 2026 or 2027.

Two of the original creators for the RE series have left their respective studios, so there's a theory that they could rejoin Capcom for later projects
I think that the recent remaster of Dead Rising is Capcom making an attempt to see if there's an active fanbase for the series. They might push to make a new entry.
They talked about how they can't get games to work on Series X because of MT Framework. Just want to remind people that all the DR games were fully Xbox exclusive (minus 2, which was multiplatform day one. 1 and 4 were later ported to PS4) and built in MT Framework. Unless it's a certain build of MT Framework. I notice it's a lot of their earlier 2000s games released on handhelds, Dreamcast and PS2.

you can probably look up the credits between 7 and 8 and the remakes. Some of the staff does shift around between projects, but many of the leads were working either on 7 and 8, or the remakes, or were shifted over to a different project

Pragmata does look like the most visual immersive game I have ever seen. You can tell it's an RE Engine game, but for soem reason the game visual speaks out on the level of it being a Kojima game. Feels as high and advanced as Death Stranding was.

In the show, they go pretty in-depth for why they decided to call it a deluxe remaster. Pretty much it's that they updated the graphics and gameplay but kept the core experience the same. It's a good explanation imo

Generally speaking, a remake would be something for Capcom where you take a game and built it from the ground up.
In this scenario, they aren't changing anything within the primary gameplay loop. And changes made are to likely make the game look better visually, stablize it, etc.
Capcom has done a number of remakes over the years, but it's not a large number. They done remakes of some of their older NES, Arcade and SNES titles. Like Mega Man and Mega Man X were both remade on PSP. The RE remakes have been the only remakes they have actually done in years.
Even then, I think about potential remakes Capcom could dive into. Dead Rising was not at the top of my list. Rather I was looking into older IPs like DMC and Dino Crisis
