Todd says id Software did not help on Starfield combat. They actually worked on the graphics side, helping implement the motion blur they have in the ID Tech engine.

Combat in Starfield has been reworked completely by BGS.

I have seen a lot of concern trolls start saying the game is gonna be trash just because its 30 fps

I was a huge defender of 60fps but I am okay with Starfield being 30fps simply because the scope is too big. The ambitions are there. Thousands of computer generated planets, leaving items will stay, can drop thousands of items, can build settlements, build your own spaceships. It would be a nightmare to QA this and it was already announced that Microsoft is using most of their QA staff on this game. Doing 60fps would mean hiring twice the people they basically have right now.

60fps isn't completely off the table yet as well for a few months after release. It seems like Starfield will get more content than just what we know so far. "First expansive story pack" is what they have announced so far. So we will get more from the sound of the wording.

Probably not as much as people think. Game aims at 30fps 4k. 1440p on series s. 60fps is definitely doable for Series X with only reducing the resolution. Series S may need to cut back on some details here and there but still very much doable.

But it's still a pain to QA. So the priority is simply 30fps which is the best solution for now.

Just a thought here. If the game renders at 1080p already and upscales to 1440p at 30fps. Then that means it would either lower the resolution significantly where upscaling would actually not help anymore or they would cut down on some effects and stuff for 60fps.

Hellblade 2 being 60fps is utopian.

I don't have a vr headset and I've only ever used a Google cardboard that you had to hold up to your face with a phone in it. I was planning on buying the PSVR2 but I thought it was over my budget. I saw the quest 3 was announced and then after watching the Apple announcement I was thinking vr/ar is about to get even bigger.

I've been watching a lot of quest 2 videos to get an idea of what games are out there and it's already making me want to buy one. We probably won't hear anymore about the quest 3 until September 27th and that seems really far away to me

Dead Souls (the Zombie one) is PS3 exclusive, Stretes of Kamurocho was a PC/Steam exclusive (and super cool), Ryu ga Gatoku Kenzan is a Japanese PS3 exclusive (I don't think that was ever translated), and the PSP ones Kurohyo Ryu ga Gotoku Shinsho 1 & 2 were also never released outside of Japan but fan translations exist so they are playable in English

and Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise is on consoles (not sure about PC) - it's sorta a Yakuza/LoD spin-off and also is pretty fun

Final Fantasy XVI can be disorienting: chunks of jaw-dropping spectacle are glued together by shallow RPG systems and tedious MMO quests. But the combat feels great, the story has me hooked, and the cutscene work is phenomenal. Not finished quite yet but 45 hours in… I love it
