To start with no very rare item has ever made you incapable of killing a boss, that's just not a thing.

it's also not for no purpose, gear solves a number of problems in the game and the game is only worse when gear is too available. Fundamentally the foundation of this entire genre of the game is "my dude gets stronger i can do more things" it's part of people's connection with their characters and the game genuinely would not function without it, particularly the social aspect. Genuinely nothing builds social bonds within the guild like group pogging at items that finally dropped, to use personal anecdotal examples the most memoral aspect of last tier was finally getting a djaruun drop and me and the other guy who wanted it playing rock paper scissors to decide who gets it, if that drops every week (i.e. rashon) it's a complete non social

The game has frankly already leaned too much towards gear not mattering enough. It's an essential part of balancing of the game, gear serves a natural nerf point, part of the problem with raid tuning we have currently is that gear is too available, we're going into the raids too close to the final BIS item level and as such people are running face first into bosses they're not good enough to kill (having 1500 guilds on tindral at the same time until recent nerfs. In past expansions this would be solved by just gaining a shit ton of ilvl from reclearing but in the current universe you can cain like 3 ilvls on your raid by the time you get to that boss. As a result blizzard have to actively nerf bosses for shit guilds to be able to clear them (prior examples halondrus, anduin, etc)

Guilds that are close to kililng bosses

and instead they get sledge hammer nerfed

aren't happy either

but in the current state of the game where you go into that boss 2 ilvls below full bis

at world like 50

guilds at world 200 are NEVER going to kill that boss

so it has to be sledgehammer nerfed

and the guilds at like world 120 who are close to killing it are instead pissed (numbers made up)

apparently there's accusations that the pals in palworld are AI generated... because some tweets from the ceo about AI-generating fakemon... and I'm just curious... why does it matter if the pals are AI generated? They're already blatent rip offs of pokemon? Like a lot of them I look at and go "isn't that just X pokemon and Y pokemon fused together?" lmao

like does it matter if AI ripped off the pokemon or if humans did it by hand at that point

and i would imagine like 99.99% of them recognize the fact that it's blatantly ripping off certain pokemon and dgaf

because it's Ark but pokemon themed instead of dino themed

and apparently generally runs better or something idk

to me from a creative perspective it absolutely matters. when people rip off Pokémon designs for fake mons or alternate evolution lines or whatever, sometimes it’s derivative but it’s also unique. it’s a celebration of what the artist brings to the table; the things they value and want to hold over from the initial design, the space they want to expand into. there’s dozens of fan designs for mega Pokémon we didn’t get and each one was made by a person who had a unique vision for what that design needed to look like, and even if those visions were close when multiple people make an alternate version of one base pokemon it places further emphasis on the artistic styles and smaller choices of the creators
