this is gonna sound wild but i both agree and disagree with this. how you feel is key, and the emotions and thoughts an artwork can evoke in you is important. its not that i care more about the person creating the work then i do the work itself (not universally true in either direction.) whats important here in regards to AI generated content in particular is that I personally can appreciate the efforts made to create a piece of art or writing. I love the process of art being created. If that includes a specific intent from the art (i.e: "i want this painting to exude x emotion") then i will appreciate that even if the painting doesn't exude that because creating art is intrinsically human! its what has connected us throughout thousands of years! art and stories is what makes people... people!
to have a machine create a mockery of something that is borne from peoples passion and desire for raw human connection, the ability to leave a mark, the ability to gift things like emotions and knowledge and history, the ability to evoke emotions and inspire human connection is at best redundant and at worst directly harmful to us all.
the machine doesn't care about how you feel about the end result, the machine is not creating from its lived experiences. the machine is not inspired by other people's creations. it is a tasteless and emotionless creation that lacks everything that gives significance to art. when someone feeds prompts to a machine i would argue they too, are throwing out everything that makes art art by removing the process of creation from the equation entirely.
the people funding and creating AI-gen models do not care about art. they only care about bleeding us all dry for all of our money and by interacting with their disgusting slop we give them permission to continue to develop things that make life worse for everyone. they want to remove artists from their jobs enmasse while milking every piece of profit they possibly can from anyone they can because making money for shareholders is key, and if you do not it clear that you want human-made art by removing yourself from AI created content they will continue down that path, by removing artists from jobs they love and replacing people with machines that miss the entire purpose of what it means to create and interact with creations.

- I am a software engineer and I do contribute to AI-gen models. I didn't work for Midjourney or OpenAI and I didn't publish any paper on the topic, but I did small contributions to stable diffusion
- I did not do it because I care about bleeding you dry for all your money, I did it because I am enthusiastic about the new artistic opportunities it can allow us
- I am also an artist, not an overwhelmingly successful one but I did do art, I published my own d&d books, I did the drawings for them, I did graphic design work for people's websites, I did logos
- I am an artist that likes using AI, I sometimes incorporate AI elements in my works, I use AI as brainstorming, I find it a really interesting tool to use
