BAER don't recommend WiFi extenders, they cause more issues than they solve. Best would be to get a cable, second best cable with wifi access point closer to where you need it, third meshing WiFi, and last option using range extenders.
If you can, check your speed with a cable to the router, or WiFi near the access point. If there's not a major difference, the issue is not WiFi. Your Internet itself might be a bit on the low side.

I like being aware of the opinions of the author but I can still seperate them for the most part, but fully understandable that you cant/dont want to seperate that
