I haven't played elden ring, but i like when lore is done like that. the other souls games have all done that pretty much. You uncover stuff by playing, reading stuff, talking to people in game. Witcher 3 also did that a lot: u learn about the best way to complete a quest by talking to townspeople, reading books, using witcher senses to figure stuff out past what is told to you outright
