People are aware of it, so they sit on interrupting it. It's easy to get off against healer teams because you can bait interrupts with other casts

There are different options for pvp target macros. Some just use a focus target macro for interrupts/ccs/etc but IMO it is very limiting. The most extensive people have modifiers for all of their spells they may want to cast on different people with ctrl/shift/alt for ALL of their shit. Other people like myself just have 3 buttons dedicated to arena target 1 2 3. Biggest problem with that is input delay

Mage is super fragile and the strength of the class is being able to control the entire enemy team cycling poly DRs and setting up burst/peeling. Doesn't mean fire wasn't absolute faceroll in late BFA.
Arms has a super bloated kit with a lot of great utility, but it doesn't mean jack, a mediocre player will still put out insane pressure cuz Arms is the best spec in the game rn and if you just do your rotation right, you'll win more games than you lose
