It's not about accurately mimicking a scenario, it's about whether or not the results can help you accurately gear and due to the way the spec scales that means that purely stat wise (so gear minus trinkets) you will not see significant enough differences in that. Regarding trinkets it's very possible you need to swap between ST and M+ but you can always ask in discord for that
