#Which part of ADSB data controls the icon type

I am working on a smaller lightweight ADSB tracker for my local airport to be a static map, and im trying to chase down how icons are allocated, for sure I can hard code them... but I don't even want to know how many different types there are...

So I thought I'd float the question here, and see what the experts say ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers

probably with de "t" (A320 in your case)

looking at ADSB exchange, this seems to be the factor

random geode

what's the source you're using ? so i can check it out

round drift
#

but I don't have this in my API ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

so it's tar1090

narrow cloud

basically hard-coded by ICAO aircraft type, type description or category

random geode
#

those are svgs ??

narrow cloud
#

yes

round drift
#

eg no A0 which is showing as A320 (or sometimes theyre A3)

yea I think if I borrow this list, I'll be laughing (is that allowed?)

random geode
#

tar1090 is open source

narrow cloud
#

it's opensource, so usual license stuff applies

Progress of intergrating it is going well, it largely works, but I'm still missing some logic it seems, as several planes (even the C172) are not found

But it late here, so I'll pick it up in the morning

random geode

if you can't find a plane by his type code, you can find it by his type desc

random geode

pretty sure adsbx has its own api

round drift
#

I'll do some research. See what my options are

random geode
#

(i don't know anything about apis)

round drift
#

Ohhhh ok that's looking good

#

Only 100nm max range (my current one was 250) but that's not really an issue for my use case

Looks like there's some authentication needed (hopefully it's a free API ๐Ÿ˜…)

random geode
#

well

#

it's not really free, you have an access if you feed to them

round drift
#

Ahhhhh noted

#

(fair enough)

narrow cloud
#

There is no free API, even for feeders - there used to be, years ago, but it was discontinued due to abuse

random geode

woops
