I had an unused raspberry pi and bought an antenna and the RTL-SDR stick bundle at Jetvision store. Works fine since I deactivated the wifi energy saving feature.
A fun expirement of portability. I'm going to reduce to a single SDR. A single SDR hooked to my roof antenna (100+ aircraft) gets over 4 hours run time from the pijuice hat and 12000mah battery.
This is my DIY Coco Antenna setup. I have used PVC pipes as insulation and structure. This is a 25 ft apparatus and giving me 200 nm. I think I just got lucky with the 12 element coco DIY antenna , given the failure rates. I made this out of Rg6 coax and the cable runs 30 ft.
This is slick….did you happen to publish a build guide anywhere?
Been working on a "micro feeder" that I can place at family and friends
Its based on a Igel M340C as they are really cheap. I've installed the SDR on the inside for a more complete look
This is intriguing, what's your base OS? Cause isn't the SSD on these units around 8gb?
It runs Dietpi on a 4gb SSD
Good to know, mine's running on a poe powered wyse 3040 with a headless install of Debian.
