gotta agree with everything here current class progression might be easier for newbies but is just a minor annoyance to people with more then 5 hours the bots are a massive time pit that puts off the experienced players that actually provide feedback/bug reports and with release supposed to be like in 3 months and no major (good) things being added since i started playing knowing what the hell is going on would be nice
the only "major" thing we got were daggers witch was just locking already existing content behind a grind wall that gets reset all the time
Do you think the class warfare worked in any version which we had? Because it's a extremely hard direction to develop.
This is not about close doors development, this is simply about our capacity. Even through our current size we are still a small team for the game we are making.
But back to class warfare:
It's extremely hard to realize class warfare on the board of Titan Trains. But were soon we hopefully start to play with private trains, where it's a different story.
Extraction still can work also with the class themes. Fuwg was a very special scenario of us vs them, which very hard to gamify, but we will try.
The full realisation of the conductor fantasy will come with private trains. I mean trains completely owned by players.
The core of the challenge of the class struggle is to make being stucked or opressed in a class fun. Fighting against odds, joining together and winning.
That's all very hard concepts to realize when you play just with complete strangers. There is way how to approach it and I don't want to spoil it yet, because it's in ealy design state.
I don't contradict the ideas, but just want to demonstrate the challenges:
We could argue that camping or strong players locking down c2 could represent higher class defending itself against lower one. Even now players can band together into alliances and try to beat the stronger opposition, but this is really rare with strangers. Even with tool like revolution contract it's really rate. Of course for example revolution contract needs a lot of improvements, but that is the case with the rest of the game. It's all about limited time we have and how to make the most of it.
Making the most of it with bots?
I don't understand how the full form of a conductor would come about from a private train, its a private train. Conductors should be more important on a titan train. Private train implies a private server thing and okay big woop then.
A lot of us became friends however through stuff like this so it isn't as rare as you might be thinking it is. It just doesn't get enough time to foster. There's only so much that can occur when you have roughly 4-5 hours per train. An even then a weekend isn't enough to get to know someone generally.
we don't mean private server, we mean a train which is still part of games servers, but players litterally own it, well until they can protect their conductor status. you can invite other players to join you. it's a pernament train unlicke Titans.
They will have their own special set of rules. Just imagine dagger on steroids of the scale of a train with players ability to rule them, build them up, upgrade them and infiltrate them. Eventually even steal them from each other.
Conductors will be able to divide their trains into classes as their see fit, it can be an utopia or tyrany
With as much involved with that that currently isn't in the game though that feels like it would be something far off, you have to many balancing issues you have going on right now.
My big issue though is we keep hearing "oh private trains will fix this" and "that is something we will implement in the future" for a lot of our complaints and to me I'm not trying to be mean but those sound more like excuses. Their supposed solutions to problems that have existed for a while involving a system that is also far off (in the context that it won't be implemented within the next 3 months).
I'm not saying it isn't complex, I've been to college for it so I know how complicated it can be. But I've been hearing some of this for a while is my point.
It is. They work more than they talk. Be patient juuust a little more.
It's not excuses. Titan train are a very specific experience which is very hard to accomodate some of the aspects of the original vision, like Class warfare and a full fledged Conductor loop. We are working on all the other bigger and smaller aspects of the game in the background, but of course you don't have visibility on that.
