#A noob's attempt to give martials...spell like abilities
34 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
let me take a look
Seems simple and elegant
I like that the charges are just equal to your level
You might wanna make it a homebrewery doc instead to be readable
Bulwark: AC + DEX SAVE + Protect (Fighter, Barb)
what?
There's also this which helps with Google doc formatting.

Currently working on a rework to the martial system in my rebuild so I'll need to give this a look later 👀
Oh sorry- It just means that it grants AC and Bonus to dex saves
I kinda thought of it as a PC hugs another PC while lifting up their shield
I'll prolly try doing that in my laptop tomorrow
It's pretty messy and unfinished rn but yeah
Also, due to the English thing, in case you don't know - newb = newbie. Noob = douche that knows as much as a newb, but thinks they know everything.
first time hearing that
I have never heard that, Noob is just "gamer newb" in my vocab
Oh I see
The martials yearn for spells
Honestly it looks pretty good! Like it so far.
Thank you-
I kinda am trying to give all the martials a lots of stuff to play with and I'm struggling with what to give the Barb rn
Barbs do be like that.
If you wanna look at another system that does stuff kinda like this, consider looking through Draw Steel
its a TTRPG similar to dnd but it has every class get a bunch of features like these
its also got reversed attrition where you get stronger the longer you fight, but so do enemies. Its a mechanic I stole for my own Barbarian rebuild as honestly that fits their vibe pretty well
But yeah I haven't play tested any of it and it's an idea. I would like to get help on how to fix and balance the things here
I tried asking my other discord friends for some help but they think that the maneuvers are too complicated
My irl friends however would love to have it cus they think martials are pretty boring
I'll try checking it out
actually lemme see...

Ok ye I think that's fine, had to double check if this was SRD or not
Didn't 4e basically do this too?
I think? Tho I am very uneducated on 4e
Pretty sure there were no spells per se and everyone just had at will, daily, and encourter use powers.
But Colville has talked about using ideas from 4e previously so I'm not really surprised.
Was there a question here?
oh i was asking about the background
i ended up just giving i a gray background
