The shields may not be used with traditional shields, and only one may be used at a time
OK
THP is infinite usage redo boogaloo, so I think we should breach norms here, and use cantrip baselines (effectively dot = multitarget track... so d6's).
So I might say 1d6 per tier.
5 might work, but... I think 1/2/3/4/5d6 might be nicer
hmm
1 questions for you; would fortification shields have a nonmagical +2 equivalent?
1 question for ovion; That DR is for general DR, not accounting for damage type, but I know you have damage type modifiers for other stuff, would that apply here? Cause my usage allows for a lot more DR, especially towards elemental damage
I'm not sure!
Maybe double for a single type only though.
NMBPS gets 3 on a feat, and that's... uncommony grade... so 2 for a magical/elemental damage type feels... not wrong
I find there's a different distribution because of how elemental damage typically gets lumped (single hit, single instance of DR applying) vs BPS which is typically more multihit oriented
This is how I've done fields in my homebrew scifi - some rare armours may have soak bui,t in, but the easiest way to get soak is with Personal Projection Field (PPF), which gives 1d4, 2d4 or 3d4 soak depending on cost.
A non magical +2? Like +2n ?
Like, Shield give +2 ac
Magic +1 shields are +3.
And so on.
Infinite usage redo boogaloo? Honestly the whole first message is a little confusing to me, please help me be less ignorant!!
Aaaah ok so the idea was that they’d simply be a +1, +2, +3, +4, +5, but they would also not need to be held, so while lets say a lvl 3 fighter could use a 1d8 longsword and a +1 shield (+3), they could instead use a 2d6 greatsword and a +1 energy shield, if that makes sense?
What if it was 2n mundane (NMBPS) but 1n for magical/elemental?
spell making / craft rules.
You don't normally look at cantrip / at will healies though.
And THP is budgeted as healing.
n being? x/*?
Yeah like n = rarity tier , so 1n uncommon is 1, 1n rare is 1(2), v rare is 3, etc.
ah
So what would infinite usage redo boogaloo actually mean?
Like at risk of being abused?
you can use it infinitely, so it always refreshes.
but thp replaces.
just... memey way of saying "use with no limit"
Aah maybe thp is just the wrong term? Like the idea is that it has x hp, and recharges when out of combat or something of the like
Maybe short /long rest/ 1hr ooc
THP or Temporary Hit Points is a predefined mechanic, so if its not THP then yes, wrong term xD
So what would be a better term? A health barrier?
Just state that it has its own hp?
stating it has its own HP would likely be the way yeah, look at....
one of the wizard subclasses
they have that floaty bonus health orb
I forget which one it is though
Abjuration?
yes, lift wording from the ward
