#Stringing issue on Orca Slicer (no problem with Cura)

Hello, I’m new to Orca Slicer. Until now I was using Cura. I find Orca more convenient and it gives better print quality, but I have a problem—maybe you can help me.

With Orca, I’m getting a lot of stringing on my prints, like spider webs, while I don’t have this issue with Cura. What could be causing it?

I’ve already done a temperature tower but it didn’t help. I’m a beginner, so it would be great if I could find a solution.

looks like there is no retraction at all, that's the first thing to check

Could also be a cooling issue.
If they have orca going faster, 🤷‍♂️

calm rune
#

a lack of cooling doesn't cause stringing, that's something else

#

the main causes are bad or no retraction, and excessive extrusion temp

that's the front of the benchy indeed, I could try to guess what's wrong but you better give some basic info at least first

#

there are signs of low viscosity because of little leak spots, thus caused by overheating. The more heat the more oozing you'll get

I'd certainly cancel the print OwO

@calm rune ,
Only change made was disabling "firmware retraction", handing it back to orcaslicer. His klipper wasn't set up w/ it so G10/G11 weren't doing anything.
Why on earth would catestophic failure like this come from enabling retraction.

Can I put it back the way it was before?

Do what you had in the original benchy picture - except keep the firmware retraction change we made

lol ok.
Whats the benchy progress

@keen trench I tried it, but it didn’t work. I still have the problem. Someone had me add a function in printer.cfg for retraction. I’m testing now with 0.8 and I’ll let you know if it worked.

... huh. okie doki

#

retraction shouldnt be causing your layers to not adhere, but you do you

Bed looks pretty dirty, might need to clean it. You shouldn't need to change temp after the first layer either; that's an old technique from back when build plate materials were less than good and left a lot to be desired.

That also should not be needed, and in fact might actually be part of the problem.

#

What is your bed made of? Textured PEI?

I don’t know, but the problem was there before, so it’s not caused by that. I put some glue a few days ago because my print wasn’t sticking, but actually I just hadn’t done my leveling and I forgot to remove it. The problem was already there; I just need to remove the glue.
