I've been getting more into 3MF file due to now have a "AMS" example to test it out I found some minions on Maker world, my question is and orca slicer how do I open the 3MF file, allow it to still override the settings to what is needed, but not change my printer to a bambu... Also when I click out of bamboo it changes the settings back it doesn't keep them. I believe there's something I'm missing
#SOLVED: How do you open 3MF file

You are not missing anything, that's exactly how it works. The 3MF files from MakerWorld are specifically for Bambu printers, and for Bambu Studio. Trying to use them in OrcaSlicer will always try to load a Bambu machine, and will have issues with settings that are not the same in OrcaSlicer. The settings that come with the 3MF are linked to the printer that is also included in the 3MF, so it won't keep them when the printer changes. This is just a limitation of how 3MF files work.
What you are asking simply cannot be done with 3MF files. They would have to come from a project built specifically for your machine, which is really what the file type is designed for, transferring projects between multiples of the exact same machine hardware and material.
You may have the option of loading them as "geometry only," but that will not include any settings.
you can disable the option below so it won't unload and load related presets when you switch to another printer
Ok how do I get there
Ok, thanks, so I guess that leads me another question, is Bambu studio the only one that does 3FM file...
No, PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer both do them, so does Cura in its paid version. Just that none of them can use the ones from MakerWorld.
The limitation is that they must be used with the same software, and software version that created them, and with the same machine hardware...if they contain settings info.
Thank you for that... My mutlix journey begins
are you refering to Cura enterprise?
Yeah. It won't do 3MF in it's free version.
but it always could export 3mf from as long as I remember so you're either wrong or I missed a big turn
I stand corrected, you are right; it is STEP files that require Cura Enterprise. I got them mixed up.
lol. I still use cura and was downloading the lates version to make sure
I just checked n v5.8.0. It will import "generic" 3MF (geometry only), but if you try to import an Orca "project" 3MF, it errors saying that no model data is included (even when it clearly is).
