#Random slower parts of the print
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
They all seem to be detected as top surfaces.
speeds...
the speed of those slow sections is precisely 90mm/s
I set the top surface line width % from 93.75% to 100% and it still has somewhat slower sections? but not as slow? but this is still clearly some sort of undesirable behavior
I also notice that some of the walls are also 90 mm/s
I then tried using another one of my printers' profiles and now almost everything is 90 mm/s
that's with a faster printer's settings but limited to 5k acceleration
increase TRAVEL SPEED from 300 to 400mm/s and it's better???
seriously?
yeah I went back to the original klp1's profile
going back to 93.75% top surface line width shows that that's solved
but WHY does travel speed affect this?
Here is something weird. If I set all of your speeds back to defaults, it tells me the top layer is printing at 350, even though that is not set anywhere and is not listed in the color legend. haha WTF? This is an odd one.
yeah this is the weirdest bug I've ever come across
it's making me think it's some sort of memory safety error
just reading a random value from somewhere else
@crimson fable btw the 93.75% top surface line width comes from the orcaslicer defaults for fdm printers https://github.com/SoftFever/OrcaSlicer/blob/3f7d5b85fd43043834f6c1f2035efc04cf0f2837/resources/profiles/Custom/process/fdm_process_common.json#L50
you live and learn never seen it before
if you've never done a generic printer before than sure
if you base it on a voron or whatever then you'll probably have something else
i thick that my be displaying the jerk speed , if you place the nozzel in the middle of the line what is the speed then
The jerk isn't 350 though. As a side note, for whatever reason, it doesn't let you position the preview nozzle in the middle of the line, it just jumps with each line of the G-code.
i can get a similar issue with the speed reported too
its because its traveling for what ever reason
Oh! Is arc fittings turned on? Or spiral z-hop? I didn't think to check those.
no arc fitting , hop is auto
That could be part of it. Auto z-hop uses arc travel moves in a lot of places.
Wouldn't be the first time I have seen people having issues because of that setting. It should really have some sort of warning in the tooltip about it.
let me force it to somthing
trying all three options for z hop didnt change the speed issue
its doing some travel for what ever reason, maybe its one of those undisclosed design features
😁
Avoid walls? Wipe settings? I would check this stuff myself, but not near my computer for a while.
Just trying to think of what settings cause travel moves.
ok, i just had to restart my pc , now that travel speed has gone, let me see if i can get it back
ok, got it back one profile has the issue the other not
the profile on the left has the issue the right hand side is ok
switching between classic and Arachne , seemed to fix it between these profiles
What the hell...haha
there is something going on with Arachne and classic , the night build acts slightly different, ill try it later
I think Orca may have some serious fundamental issues with its implementation of Arachne.
oh I think the one thing this printer has is I enabled firmware retraction
firstly I think I need to go back to slicer retraction with a wipe (I switched to bowden and my first non-test-print had some stringing)
