if anything my biggest gripe with the game (besides just blatantly unfinished stuff like rapid assimilation or the africa being colonized by euros) is that the AI is too easy.

maybe try lowering the difficulty if its too hard for you? that setting exists for a reason. u could also try lowering ai aggressiveness too

also as a tip the AI is just completely incapable of predicting/playing with army-fleet interactions. which of course england would excell at

So put ur army on a fleet or across the channel in a location with a fleet. then when the ai opens up move the fleet with the army on board into a port of a location that the french are sieging

an easy way to do this is to take a location on the french side, put an army there to bait the ai, put the bulk of ur army on a fleet. wait for the french army to start moving into the location with the bait, then once the french army's movement is locked, move ur fleet with the doomstack on board into the port of the location where ur bait is

i have been able to defeat alliances with armies 4-5 times the size of mine when playing as Scandinavia fighting in the hre through this practice. A friend of mine wiped close to a million chinese troops with 10-20k losses (though he did have better techs) by doing this on an islands across the strait from mainland china then blocking the strait with the port once the chinese army would start retreating

which btw u should be able to do as well as england ive just checked france has strait-ed islands on the west coast in the Saintonge province

🤦‍♂️ you aren’t listening, THE FRENCH AND THEIR VASSALS HAVE TOO MANY LEVIES! No matter what I do, and I have baited them in the past to no avail, the ai always dogpiles me with like 80,000 men and they always obliterate my 50,000 army.
I should not have to play sweaty to enjoy myself in this game. No matter what move I make, even against a lesser army, this will happen. On normal difficulty. Which it should not, because well, that’s unfair 💀

Yes, but if we're playing by that logic, then there is a reason the historically strongest country in Europe also in history lost to a weaker power... The Black Death (which works fine) and very disloyal vassals, which none of them are.
