#Why do we have 4 different late game infantry units without ability to upgrade...

Hello what is the reason to have 4 different infantry units at marginally the same cost, maintenance, time to build.

We should have an option to upgrade sharpshooters in to redcoats/experimental rifleman, otherwise this looks like sloppy design.

To actually upgrade my army - I have to fully disband sharpshooters and hire new experimental rifleman, I honestly struggle to understand the logic here. Can we please take some time to have a look at this?

Thank you.

I can see just in your screenshot they have different purposes. You can't upgrade them because they are different units, similarly how you wouldn't upgrade men at arms into cavalry

Also experimental rifleman - only one unit is available for hire mayahapit

Considering that I have 300k fielded regular army - it’s quite funny

Those are England unique units. And unique units are sidegrades by necessity because unit upgrades cannot branch.

The Riflemen and Redcoats are England unique units. Most countries are only going to have access to Fusiliers and Sharpshooters, which have clear differences in usage. As England, you probably would want to use Redcoats over Fusiliers every time, provided you can afford to do so. The Experimental Riflemen are limited to only one unit due to, I assume, reasons of historical accuracy - they represent that one unit of dedicated riflemen that the UK had at the time.

As far as I can understand, Sharpshooters are generally meant to fill a role similar to light cavalry, in the game's logic, but they trade off some stats for sheer manpower. No cavalry unit ever goes above 600 men in strength as far as I know, so Sharpshooters can absorb far more losses than equivalent light cavalry. You have a small amount of them to begin each battle with their initiative advantage, then your line infantry take up the rest of the fight.
