#Georgia flavour afterthoughts

  1. It would be quite interesting to give Georgia "Heathen Royal Marriages" like Trebizond from EU4. Historically, Georgian princesses regularly married into Seljukid and other Islamic dynasties during this time period (e.g. Kaykhusraw II). David VI of western Georgia was even an agnate of the Seljukid dynasty (though the reigning king of all-Georgia in 1337 is patrilineally a Bagratid). This also ties into the fact that Georgia basically starts out with a guaranteed Mamluk alliance.

  2. I would also suggest giving Georgia a Burgher (Mokalakeni) privilege regarding the Genoese merchants present in coastal western Georgia. Perhaps increasing opinion between the two states while also buffing the market access and trade power of both in Tbilisi and Kaffa. Perhaps even creating a building based country as a Genoese vassal in these locations would also be great.

  3. Georgian rulers' heirs should be localised as "Batonishvili" (lit. son of the lord).

Thank you!

Most certainly not

#

There were huge theological implications to marrying a non-Christian as a Christian male

#

I think it might be completely unprecedented in European history for a Christian ruler to marry a Muslim

but either way

#

Georgia is a specific case of a Christian state on the periphery of Christendom

#

Al-Andalus was the opposite, a predominantly-Muslim polity on the periphery of Islam

#

Christian women were regularly wed to Muslim men but never vice versa

In Islamic jurisprudence Muslim women are forbidden from marrying Christian or Pagan men

Georgia as a case of its own was with Christian women marrying Muslim men

This never happened in western Europe
